Anyone swam at Ohio Street yet?

Master  1563    Chicago |  Subject: Anyone swam at Ohio Street yet?Just wondering if anyone has been down in the lake yet? I was watching the wgn weather recap on CLTV last night, and the the guy (not skilling, the other one, Jim Ramsey I think his name is) said the water temp today was supposed to be 68, but then the park district website that reports the lake temp and conditions everyday said it's only 58, and that seems really cold to me. Thoughts? I have a sleevless full length wetsuit, and I am kind of a wuss so 58 sounds really cold to me! Going to just do my swim workout in the pool tonight I think.  |

Some even without wetsuits... fyi, i got this email yesterday... has anyone ever gone to any of these training sessions? Join Well-Fit Triathlon and Training along with Windy City Sports for free group workouts at Ohio Street Beach, Wednesday nights beginning June 20. Athletes of all abilities have the great opportunity to gain experience in open-water swimming, transitions, and meet other triathletes in a relaxed atmosphere. We meet at 6:15 pm. with brief training advice from Well-Fit coaches. At 6:30pm, swim up to a mile at Ohio Street Beach followed by a three mile run along the Lakefront; train at your own pace and intensity. We’ll keep an eye on your gear while you train. See you starting June 20th! think i'll check it out.... |

I biked/ran on Saturday morning, and saw all the people in there, but wasn't sure if those were just die hards who are crazy enough to go in there, but if it's closer to 70, than I can take that! I don't have a wetsuit, but I will rent one if we are serious about doing this... although I would like to check it out once before diving in... no pun intended, LOL!! |
