Yeah, saw the pics for it a few months ago and my boss at my old shop had the pre-release catalog that showed the frames and models for it.

Not a real big fan of the shape myself, but it sure looks fast!

I also saw the precatalog and decided to go with the Kuota Kalibur instead of waiting for the Transition S Works. Hopefully I made the right decision.

Great. Just great. I had pretty much settled on the Guru Crono and now this comes along. Even worse, the guy who fit me said this bike would be a good match from what he can tell and his previous experience with Specialized. Wonderful.

Great article. Very nice looking ride. I'll be interested to see how it compares to a Cervelo P3C.

I am going to end up with a bit of cash when I get home and a new bike is high on my list.

Our tri club is having a special preview of this bike next week at one of the local bike shops. Even with the "one night only" special club pricing it's probably still not going to be coming home with me, but at least I can go and touch it.

Scooby- My sponsor shop is big with Guru and Specialized, in fact the biggest specialized dealer in NY. I knew the 08 specialized was coming but I still opted to go for a Guru. I took the Trilite and my buddy got the Crono.

My coach also rides a custom Crono. We all LOVE them. Its been suggested by several of our team support/mechs that the aggressive 76 degree geometry(much more aggressive than the previous models) is tough to live with and some industry insiders say that the bike will be a hell of a performer but will appeal to the top of the field only....

FWIW

P.S. Ried will be at one of my sponsor shops in NYC on Oct 3rd and will going on a ride with us in Central Park... SHould be a blast!

Eric, Thanks for the great info. I'm sure this is a dumb question but here goes...could the bike be setup to not be as aggressive even with the 76 degree geometry?

I am not sure I follow. Almost all tri bikes have a 76 degree seat tube and some are even steeper. The nice thing about the 08 Transition is that you can set the angle to almost whatever you want. I believe it’s ranging from 74-80. Anyway, I don’t have complete specs since I am not in the loop and only have access to what is published in magazines.

Maybe I am not reading your post right but I am curious about what your team support is referring to when they say it will only appeal to the top of the field.

In peace,

QC

@ Captain- Apologies if I got the degree spec wrong but.... What we were told when choosing our bikes is that most will not feel comfortable on long rides because of the steeper angle of the '08's vs the previous years and the Guru's we were leaning towards. Extremely performance oriented was a term thrown around.

Several of us also Road race and drastic geometry changes can be tough as well when going back and forth.....

@ Shallow- According to Captainquiche yes, and he may be right contrary to what we were told. I'll Email one of the shop managers and see what I can find out. I'll probably find out lots on Oct 3rd when we have the Specialized unveiling w/ Peter Reid...

Courage,

Thanks for the update. I am curious to hear what they say. I am in the market for a new bike so the more info I can get the better off I am.

I've also sent an e-mail off to LBS to see when the roadshow is headed in. I want a test ride too.
