No. Snape will be very instrumental in battling Voldemort. Wash and give his hair a dry fluff and he suddenly doesn't look so evil, does he?

Will Hogwarts re-open? 

Yes. 

I need to re-read the last couple of books, 

I started re-reading the last book this weekend (see question 2 above). Then I realized I couldn't remember the details from the 5th book! So I'm almost done re-reading the 5th book and expect to begin re-reading the 6th book this weekend. I wanted to be ready for the 7th book.

My predictions

• Harry will go down - ditto with Voldemort
• Snape is not evil
• Hogwarts will reopen

Is Dumbeldore really dead though?

I meant to re-read them all, but I think that I'm running out of time.  So, I'm starting on the fifth.  I think that'll be enough for me not to be lost during the seventh.  I hope.

Ah, well I cheated a bit. I own the 4 dvd's so I watched those first. Then I started reading.

My nephew likes to discuss and speculate and he remembers many more details than I do - gotta stay on my toes!

Will Harry go down in a battle with Voldemort? 

Yes.  And to answer the next question:  Yes.  Voldemort transfered some of his powers to Harry when he tried to kill him as a child and probably tranfered some of his life force.  I'm thinking Harry finds out he's a Horcrux and in the battle with Voldemort, Harry detroys himself in order to detroy the last remaining life force Voldemort needs, and therefore destroys Voldemort.

Also, Rowling doesn't want to be pestered for the rest of time about writing more Harry Potter books, with titles like:  Harry Potter and his Headmaster Years.

Yup.

Is Snape evil? 

No.  He and Dumbledore had a carefully planned "killing" at the end of 'Half Blood Prince' so that Dumbledore could continue seeking and detroying the Horcruxes.  Dumbledore is powerful enough to pull off faking his death and probably put himself into a sort of temporary catatonic state.

Will Hogwarts re-open? 

Yes. 

Right.  I don't like that argument because I don't want Harry to die, but it seems like a plausible J.K. Rowling-like plot twist.  On the other hand, I kind of refuse to think that she'd kill Harry. 

Have you been to the Warner Bros. website? They've got a great trailer and some cute stuff to download. They did a nice job, I thought.

BTW - Helena Bonham Carter as Bellatrix Lestrange - looks GREAT!

And I'm inclined to think that Dumbledore is no more dead than Sirius is (that is to say, either not dead at all or only dead to an as-yet-undetermined extent).

I think that Snape is indeed loyal to Dumbledore, but I think it's due less to a major gestalt shift and more to some serious vindictiveness turning him against Voldemort (my favorite theory in this camp involves Snape being in love with Lily Potter).

If Hogwarts doesn't reopen, I can see senior members of the DA taking the club and turning it into some sort of (pseudo-)school. But I'm not sure if there's enough room in one book to develop that in addition to everything else. 

My 12YO nephew insists Sirius is not dead.

Another detail I have to look for - I couldn't even remember how he died. Geez the memory is going/gone...

In the batte the the Death Eaters, Sirius is hit and is thrown (whatever) behind this black curtain is GONE.  Magic ya know.  Could be alive, could be dead.

No. Yes. Makes perfect sense to me! I'm gonna have to duck out of this thread before I get any more not-surprises.

Dumbledore's gone.  J.K. Rowling has been pretty adamant about that one.  Plot-wise he kind of needs to be gone.  Harry's the one that needs to stand up to Voldemort.  I don't think that could've (or would've) happened if Dumbledore was around.  Dumbledore knew.  Right before he died, he was pleading with Snape.  I think he was pleading with Snape to kill him.  It was a part of the prophecy.

Now, Sirius is another story.  His death was so abrupt.  I think that there's still some way for Harry to contact Sirius.
