AM 3m run (easy)
PM swim followed by upper body workout

Confess: I did miss my hard bike last night. I have family in town and went to the movies with them after work. I don't feel too bad about it though!

Just ran with my dog again for 5km. I wanted to do more, maybe a swim but then I thought that would be just asking for trouble.
I set a goal to run as much as I possibly can in the month of Feb. I was inspired by this article to set that goal:

One day I hope someone says, "Dude how did you get so fast?" to me.

early rise 5am with a slow 32minute run. During my pre run stretch I pulled an uppper back muscle pretty bad. It literaly made it difficult to breath for a while. Ran anyway but could not do an effecient post run stretch. VERY Frustrated if this will effect Friday's bike and swim. I have finally gotten past the severe soreness. Oh well!

Mustered up enough motivation from you all! I am now going to dust off my Mt. Bike and fill up the tires and take a ride! i got a new bike computer about a month ago and now i am going to take it out for a spin! then, i am making my self run atleast 2 miles tonight! decided i am not going to push the running thing to fast, i got up to 3.6 and had a not so good feeling in my shins for a couple days,, :-( so i will use that as a hint to SLOW DOWN! have a good day all! Got to the gym at 6am and began the treadmill. 2.2 miles of which I jogged 0.75. My legs couldn't take the pounding for any longer than that today. 3:30pm 1 mile swim in 25minutes. Pretty steady with only one interruption (I was at work).

Indoor bike trainer ride x 62 minutes - mostly spinning with a few spin ups and hills thrown in here and there.
I tried my friend's Tacx trainer and like it a whole lot better than my own. The grass is always greener......

Had to get to work early, and stayed late. When I finally got home the family needed some time. So I'll double up this weekend.

Success at the expense of family and friends is really failure.

your so right...i unfortunatley learned the hard way...things r great now...but BOY!  is hard not training...but really, if we just let it go and rested that day...we may be better off in the long run?  guess thats why i am trying to get up around 4am...so i dont have to come home late to train and miss out on my new fam.

i always wanted to write an article about 'balance'  maybe soon...we (or at least i) tend to become selfish when im training.  cant do that.

Balance – that is tough – having 3 kids of differing ages ,means differing amounts of attention needed to each of them. There is no way I can workout at weekends or evenings on a consistent basis so all my training is before work or at lunch. Its tough to do but I have to do it like that for the moment.

ahhhh...a 4AM workout buddy want a wake up call? LOL I think I read that somewhere......from YOU!

It is definately a juggling act. I am lucky to have a very supportive family. Now that my kids are older my daughter will run errands for me and they will work together to make dinner and clean up on the days I am late getting home from school. I could not ask for more. They also have volunteered at races I have done which makes them an integral part of the team. Get them involved if you can, then your workout time is also time with them. I have all my own equipment at home, and my kids are now working out too. It's so cool!
