Overall Rank = 858/1500
Age Group = 20-24
Age Group Rank = 35/64
Pre-race routine:

I was one of the last waves,so I had over 2 hours at the race site before my wave. I ate a plum on the drive down, and then had a balance bar and some water once I reached the race site. I walked around and familiarized myself with the transition area.
Event warmup:

Stretch. Ran 2 half mile warmups with 20 minutes rest in between. Usually I only run a half mile for my warm up, but I got bored waiting for my wave :)
Swim
  • 09m 42s
  • 500 yards
  • 01m 56s / 100 yards
Comments:

The water was cold!! I felt like I was going slower than I really was. I was pretty surprised when I got my time. It was great to see Tom (madcow) when I got out of the water. I was exhausted, but I ran to transition extra fast after seeing him cheer me on.
What would you do differently?:

I need to get better at sighting.
Transition 1
  • 03m 29s
Comments:

By the time I got to my transition area I was exhausted. My wetsuit came off pretty easily. I think the biggest contributor to the long transition time was the large distance I had to run.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Bike
  • 38m 2s
  • 9.3 miles
  • 14.67 mile/hr
Comments:

The bike went ok. I had a difficult time getting around people in the Sea World parking lot.
What would you do differently?:

Get a road bike :) Soon!
Transition 2
  • 01m 17s
Comments:

I had a hard time racking my bike....my neighbors in the transition area did not leave me much room. Other than that, I already had my running shoes on, so the transition went pretty fast.
Run
  • 26m 53s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 40s  min/mile
Comments:

I felt fairly nauseous at the beginning of the run, and didn't think my legs could handle the whole thing. By mile 2 I was feeling much better and actually passing people! I saw a few other girls in my age group in the last 100m. I sprinted as hard as I could, but my short legs didn't help me too much. Overall I was very satisfied with my time. I finished over a minute faster than I was hoping for.
What would you do differently?:

I'd start pushing a little harder in mile 2.
Post race
Warm down:

Grabbed a glass of water, walked around and stretched. Grabed some Jamba Juice, and then another ;)

Great race! I was meaning to tell you about the turns at Sea World, they can be a little hairy. There was a lot of traffic on the bike course, more than I remembered from last year. Maybe it was all the slow people you were passing Great job on the run. Sounds like you worked out all of your leg issues if you had enough to sprint at the end. I hope you had fun, it looked like it. Let me know when you get your new bike a we can go for a ride up the coast. Again, Congrats on a good race.
