Subject: Tears for Fears and deep fried Twinkies.........

Last night went to the Tears for Fears show.  Third time I've seen this band, first time (Seeds of Love tour, with Oleta Adams) was still the best.  Still better than the show where Roland toured by himself after (I guess) kicking Curt out.

Played lots from Everybody Loves a Happy Ending, one track from Elemental, 3 from Songs from the Big Chair (Shout was the encore), 2 from The Hurting, and even Raoul and the Kings of Spain.  Pretty obscure, didn't seem like most of the crowd got that one.  2 from Seeds of Love, including Woman in Chains, which was great, but the female vocal was no Oleta.

After the show, went to the connected Orange County Fair, I'd always wanted to try a Deep Fried Twinkie.  Yeah, as you'd expect, they're gross......

I tried a deep fried twinkie at the State fair last year. Only had a taste and indeed. Nasty. Twinkies are nasty to begin with.

Yeah, I almost lost my lunch at the Del Mar Fair and I was almost 100 yards away from the cart that was selling them. I certainly could not get close enough to actually buy one without being overcome with the gag reflex.

I did notice a bunch of overweight pre-teens horking those things down as fast as they could buy them

I bet the cals are not too bad but I would bet the chemical makeup of the twinkie takes on something much more sinister when intense heat is applied in the fryer. (Like cooking it up in a spoon)

loved tears for fears in my younger days.

I used to sing "Everybody wants to Kick your a$s" to my little brother. Nice, eh?  We LOVED that band. He'd sing "Everybody wants to smack your face"

We never ate twinkies, though.

Hey, at least I didn't eat the deep fried chicken patty sandwiched between two krispy kreme donuts (honest to goodness).  What else did they have, DF oreos, DF asparagus, DF veggies (ok, that's just tempura)

I was kinda hoping they had deep fried snickers.  I have heard these are pretty good, although I can't imagine how.
