Just an FYI
Im currently taking the Triathlon class offered at rowan college. The coach/instructer is a 20 year tri vet who has competed at both lake placid IM and kona IM (qualified for both, no lottery). Im a strong cyclist but a poor swimmer/runner. The swimming guidence has been awesome. The others in the class range to beginners to experts. The class is 3 days a week, tues 7pm/thur7pm/and sat 8am. Tues we swim, then ride the spin bikes. Thur we swim and run the track , and sat all 3. It may be a little out of the way for some, but for those new to the sport, its awesome. There are sessions fall and winter. Sept-Dec mades more sense for me, I take a bike trainning class jan-mar. I think the next Tri session starts in jan. (rowan is the old glassboro state college, right off rt 55 at rt 322.)

Sorry if the last name is spelled wrong...Nick Pomponio
He completed the philly oly try last year with a severly broken, repaired ankle. (slipped on ice) Dr.'s didnt think he would walk again. Did the run with the injured leg on a makeshift cart (kinda like a razor scooter). Now running 7min mile again . He is hoping to make it to Kona again this year.
Oh yeah,
the class is $150 for rowan students, $250 for non-students.
A BARGAIN!!!

Good to hear it's a quality guy....I get nervous when I hear these things :o)

Nick has been there/done that for a long time, hope you get something out of it!

BTW (sorry to pirate the thread) - Where are you located down there? We are in the process of locking in an indoor cycling class from Dec >> March and the location which we had solidified has fallen through. The class is supposed to start the week of 12/11 and I'm trying to get a space. If you or someone you know, knows of a space that we could use (basically just need an open 20'x40' (+/-) room) - please shoot me an e-mail ([email protected]).

I'm also holding these in Red Bank and Wall, but have a # of athletes in Ocean County who are interested, but don't want to make the drive up on a week night (understandably).

Thanks in advance!

I will second this....as Brian said Nick is a quality guy and has been in the sport for over 20 years. I grew up with his daughter and they are very nice people.

Probably worth it for beginners who are in the area...

Bryan question for you.

Since you have now taken both classes (Rowan and the Peddlers), which one would you recommend if I could only do one? Peddlers is starting up the first week of Jan. and Rowan's new class is starting around Jan 21st.

Just curious of your thoughts on both.

Dan,
where do you need more work, Swim or Bike?? My swin was very weak. I have been very strong on the bike. If I could have only did one or the other, I would get more out of the tri class.

I learned alot over the last couple months, going to use what I learned in my swim workouts. I have been off the bike since oct (except for the spin classes during the tri class) Wanted to give my "bike" legs a rest. Been working on my swim and run. Come Jan, I will be back on the bike.

LP doesn't require a qualifier, does it?
