Veteran 257 Stirling, Scotland | Subject: RE: 5 for Fighting Sorry, no cross dressing pictures to share with you. 3 hours until the kick off in the big game. Scotland V Italy - a nation holds its breath. I'm ok on most things, but slipping behind on the core excersises. Todays workouts all done. The plan for tomorrow is to drag my wife out for a longish bike ride. |

Master 1841 Sendai, Japan | Subject: RE: 5 for Fighting Hi everyone! I took today off as my right knee was acting up again. I have upated the google spreadsheet and my summary to date is below. I am on track. Weight loss is the one area I am struggling with. Note that I am 13-14 pounds down from where I was at the start of this year and my goal will take me to a weight I have not seen in 20 years. Having typed that last sentence helps me to refocus on what is an achievable goal. Saw some snow flurries this evening...winter it is, even though the leaves on the trees say it is still autumn. Progress as of week 2: Swimming: 6/9 km for 66% Walking: 92/160 km for 57% Cycling: 88/160 km for 55% Weight sessions: 4/8 for 50% Weight loss: 0.9/2.5 for 36% Hope everyone is having a great weekend and cranking out some miles (kilometers)! |

Veteran 257 Stirling, Scotland | Subject: RE: 5 for Fighting Quick update. Scotland managed to lose, Scotland 1 - Italy 2. Italy scoring in the first and last minute. My wife was successfully dragged out for a cycle (It's my birthday today and she had asked me what I wanted to do). I had written a short birthday wish list and I now have three different sets of bike brushes for cleaning the bike. Cracked open one of the sets and spent the afternoon cleaning our bikes. Shiney shiney. |

I didn't think I was going to need a week off after the half mary, but I think it helped that I didn't run too much for the last week. We'll see what happens this week. Biking - 6.5 hours out of 10. I'll hit this one Running - 7 3/4 hours out of 15 - Going to be tough Swimming - 5 3/4 hours out of 12 - I'll get up to about 10 hours Big Sur Half Marathon - Sub 2:00 - Oh yes! |

Champion 6285 Beautiful Sonoma County | Subject: RE: 5 for Fighting Happy Happy Birthday, Pulch! My end-of-week check-in:
Lame lame lame. I'm woefully behind on my running and it's very unlikely I'll make it to 100% by the end of the month. I'll do the best I can, naturally. But I'm limited by how much I can run and how many days in a row I can run. *sigh* As it stands, the only thing I'm even close to the mark on is my crunches. In fact, if I keep going at my projected rate, I'll beat 1000 easily. If I do three weight workouts this week and the next, I'll be ok on that. The swim... looks like I'll be spending some time in the pool over the next two week. Blech. I guess that's why I put it on the challenge list. If it was something I enjoyed doing, I wouldn't need the push, right? That leaves the bike. I'm hoping to get out for a social ride with a friend sometime this week. And if the weather holds, Eric and I are taking our bikes up to Redding for the T-day weekend, and will get in a nice ride on Friday. Hope everyone had a nice weekend! Sorry if I was a bit uncommunicative last week. We've been having online connection issues, and I kept getting booted off. I think it's fixed now. |

I would offer that running very slow (walking) might be a solution since your goal is time based. |

Halloween candy is no longer tempting me though.. My weight loss goal is a lost cause unless I catch the stomach bug that kept me up all night with my 17 month old (which I'd rather not). I'm a bit behind on the swim after missing some workouts earlier in the month, but I had a plan and was still going to make it. However after being up all night with Colsen, I missed master's this morning which is going to make this one tough. I am not giving up though!!! I am definitely glad for the challenge though because it has kept me on my bike and in the water more than I would have without it! Thanks to everyone for the "Inspire me's". I need to work on inspiring you guys too! Robin |

Master 2055 Santa Clarita | Subject: RE: 5 for Fighting Training going well for me . I like the total miles goal I have set for myself as I can vary the workouts depending on how I am feeling after my long runs. I am all about Running long this winter as the weather here is very pleasant for that. I even manged to get to the outdoor pool for a swim. I am at 148 miles / Goal 200 miles . So well on pace to reach 100% . Go Team |

Champion 6627 Rochester Hills, Michigan | Subject: RE: 5 for Fighting Well, this month isn't exactly going as planned - had a self-imposed 5-day downtime due to an injury sustained while not paying attention, I'm sharp like that. Bottom line...I'm down about 10 workouts. At this point I've got to re-cast my goals...I've got a stretch goal of 30... Great training from everyone, though. |

Expert 929 Hawaii | Subject: RE: 5 for Fighting Happy Belated Birthday, Pulch!! Max, how did the race go? Charge: nice #'s...especailly on the run! dcon: way to go on the weight goal. Do you feel like a "whole new you"? Rio: your numbers look great...you're more than 1/2 way on all your goals. Just thought that I would point that out . Madcat: you were so worried about hitting your abs goal in the beginning of the challenge, and now you're going to smash them. . Nothing pathetic about that! Rzz: I'll be spending lots of time in the pool this as well...in case that helps at all. Van P: do you include swimming yardage in your totals? Rick: glad that you are feeling better! As for me, my cold is gone. So, I have no excuses not to be in the water A LOT this week. I'm going to do my best to reach that swimming goal. Core, too, for that matter. I'm not so sure about the running. I can throw a couple of extra miles in here and there, but am hesitant to throw too many in as I'm supposed to be tapering now. Hope all is well...where ever you are. |

Champion 8903 | Subject: RE: 5 for Fighting naners - 2007-11-19 2:18 PM Max, how did the race go? Actually, not bad. I went in with minimal training and only the Marine Corps 10-K 3 weeks ago where I averaged just over 10 mins per mile. I was hoping for anything under that pace for yesterday's 5 miler, and I ended up doing 45:47 for a 9:09 pace. I briefly had delusions that I could go under 45:00 but a big hill at the end took it's toll and I had no shot. Still, I'm happy with the effort!
