I hear hubby getting plates out of the cabinet... Tonight we get to eat on our new patio at our new patio table in our new patio chairs under our new patio cover.... food that was cooked on our old bbq grill... Bye Cat!!! Mmmm I LOVe BBQ - enjoy! Mmm.. bbq. I like mine South Carolina and of course Mississippi style. So, I know there are different styles, but I can't really keep them straight. What is South Carolina and Mississippi? SC is mustard sauces, MS is heavily vinegar based. Pretty much dealing with the shoulder. Oh so styles is more about how you prepare the meat? Oh that I can understnad... |

I usually only get pulled pork, so I don't know where that comes from. I had ribs for the first time about two weeks ago from one of my favorite places here. They were SO good. I might be hooked. I LOVe that you can eat them with your fingers, in a restaurant and its acceptable... I LOVE that fact alone before I event get started n the meat... |

Check this out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regional_variations_of_barbecue Lol - just reading teh Aussie description made me giggle... See if you say Im going to a barbeque here... it means you are rocking up at someones house on a summers day with beers.wine and meat (depends on the host) in hand. The men will stand around the barbeque 'cooking' the meat and in many instances (where much alc ohol has been consumed) there will be some burning... lots of nonsense will be discussed, maybe some backyard cricket and eventually everyone will get around to eating...
Does the US really not have the concept of a sausage sizzle over there for fundraising? Edited by kaqphin 2008-09-03 8:11 PM |

Does the US really not have the concept of a sausage sizzle over there for fundraising? We do it. It's just called "grilling". Barbeque implies smoking here. Some people use it interchangeably, but I've learned the difference since I lived in the south. They are VERY different things and people get a little uptight if you mix them up. |

See that to me is something you ARE not something you EAT! Not pronounced like small annoying children. They are delicious german sausages - short for bratwurst. The best way to make them is to boil them in beer and then finish them by grilling so they are crispy on the outside. Completely delicious. |
