Comet: Sorry about the knee...I hope it feels better soonFrown

Carlacrews: sorry about the sprint...thats a bummer Frown

As for the challenge between Sal and Shermmie...I know I couldn't do it so good luck...I always do more than my plan...I am currently 2 weeks ahead of "schedule" in my couch to 5k plan....yes I am that terrible of a runner.

Nothing worse than a sore knee (well maybe a sore back),  but I hope it is just a rest thing.  I was wrapping mine in ice every night.  Did it help?  I don't know, but I did it anyway.

Hey all,

I know I've been absent for a while but today I completed my first TRI. To be honest after the swim I thought never again but half way through the cycle I changed my mind and definitely wanna race again. I'll try to attach some pics here if not they're in my album.

Hope ye all are well - will be back for good after short holidays.

I had my first DNS today. I feel like a complete loser. It was a DNS mostly because of the rain and my being a chicken about riding in rain for the first time during a race. The other reason is because of personal issues that have caused my life to totally suck within the span of about 2 days.

I was going to do a couple more 5K races, but I think my racing season might be over. I have absolutely no motivation for anything at this point. It will give me some time to get to the doc and have him take a look at my knee and make sure nothing is seriously wrong.

Congrats on your tri Ceade!

Cead- Congrats on your Tri

lkagop- Hope the race went well

I personally this weekend learned what it was like to be a fan in difficult race conditions...My hubby ran a half-marathon in a torrential downpour...it was great fun for all involved Laughing

I hope all went well Ikagop!  I'll keep an eye on your blog to check out your race report.

I'm having a personal battle with myself regarding my first Tri.  The last one of the season here is October 5th.  I am slightly under trained, since I got into this whole thing only a month or so ago.  I am debating whether or not to just do it.  Right now, I am leaning toward yes, even if I huff-puff through the bike, otherwise it will be on my mind all winter long!!  (For reference, this tri I'm considering is a 400m swim, 15m bike, 5k run).

Out running or enjoying a fine glass of red...

I'm back and I'm accountable. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Did you miss me?

OK, so I met with a nutritionist who wasn't completely worthless and I spent some time doing some research on endurance eating...and probably I didn't have the right focus - everything seems to point to mixing food groups together - grain/fat/protein...not in precise ratios, but trying to hit 2-3 groups with each eating session...(oh, and making sure I eat before I run in the morning, something I'm soooo not good at).

So here's the plan I'm shooting for (and what I've eaten thus far today to match)

Breakfast
2 grains; 1 protein; 1 fruit; 1 fat
1/2 c. OJ w/ 1/2 scoop protein powder; 2 pieces toast w/ 1 Tbsp peanut butter

Snack
1 supplement/1 grain or 1 fruit; 1 protein
Light yogurt w/ 1/2 c. Kashi cereal

Lunch
2 grains; 1 protein; 1 fat; 1 fruit or 1 vegetable
Lean Cuisine panini sandwich, 8 oz Spicy V8

Snack
1 supplement/1 grain or 1 fruit; 1 protein or 1 fat
Planned - apple, light string cheese

Dinner
2 grains; 1 protein; 1 fat; 3 vegetables
Planned - chicken breast w/ marinara & cheese; veggies; 1c pasta

Snack
1 fruit or 1 vegetable; 1 protein or 1 fat
Not sure on this one yet...

Here's the bad news:

Due to recent events, I had to put training on hold. With school, work, and obviously the weather, I'll be resetting back to wk 1 day 1 next monday.

And my city got torn to bits when IKE came through. Every other tree is either laying on it's side or snapped in half, and these are 40 ft trees. Otherwise, everything is ok. I have no phone, cable, and subsequently no internet. I'm down at University of Dayton using their WIFI, since my college campus is closed too.

Hope everyone else is doing ok??? I might not be on here for the next few days either, but we'll see. I'll try my best to keep you all informed.

i146q - 2008-09-11 11:24 PM Today was 'running around like my head was cut off' day! I've been up since 4 am and had to reformat my harddrive, wiping clean, my entire computer.... Then read, study, print out notes, go to class, had another dr's appointment, and I didn't get home till after 9pm. I'm afraid I'm going to crash before the training gets done. Tonight is yoga though. Maybe I can take yoga easy??? --Josh R.

Know the feeling Josh, these last two weeks have been insane with work and just a lot of extra crap going on. When does life get easy? Wink

I was curious, how'd GR faired with IKE... I have G.parents in Wyoming, and haven't been able to get a hold of anyone, since my cable, phone, and internet are out. Everyone doing fairly well in your neck of the woods?

Josh-hope things get better out there sooner than you think

As for me, I had a mini meltdown last week, but I picked up one of the BT maintenance programs last week and I'm back on track.  Also last week, on my Sunday ride, a car of teenage boys threw something at me-not sure what it was, but it hit the ground hard enough for me to believe it would have hurt if it hit me...WTF! I wish I could have caught those little , what were they doing up at 10am anyway?  It is possible that I was better off not catching them because I was probably going to do something stupid like throw my lock at their car.  Has this ever happened to anyone else?

Hello Team Skinny,

Yes I am back, with my head hanging in shame; I feel AWFUL for just disappearing :-( I COMPLETELY burned out and had to take a break from working out and structured training so I just fizzled out for a bit for about two months.

Fortunately I had a good enough base to COMPLETE my second triathlon last month, an Iron Girl Triathlon!!! Since I was not at peak performance, the mantra during the race was slow and steady. I finished within the goal I had set and felt great about my major accomplishment.

A week later, I was in Nigeria for work, for two weeks. I just got back yesterday and am now ready to get back on track. This morning, I got up and went for a 4.35 mile run which is the longest I have ever done (I know thats not long to most people, but its long for me :-))..dont know where that came from but I take it as an omen that my body wants me to get back on track with my running. I have decided I want to increase my long run from 4 miles to 6 - 8 miles. Since I was able to do 4+ a bit easier than I thought I could, I think I can up my mileage over time.

I have also decided to drop another 20 pounds by Thanksgiving so I have my work cut out for me. Anyhoo, I am back and ready to take accountability again Hopefully you will all forgive me :-)
