Thinking about it. I'm still worried about leaving the new dog all alone in the house for so long. I have major guilt issues about it. Perhaps I'm the one with separation anxiety and not her......

You know, you could both bring the puppies. One of you swim, the other watch the puppies, then trade for the run.

This is one of the main reasons I do not come out right now. I pay someone as it is to come while Josh and I are at work - thats how bad I feel about leaving my dogs! Talk about an UBER long day for them! So I feel your pain. I have brought mine out before BUT if a ranger ever does come, you will either be asked to leave or ticketed. Dogs are not allowed at BJC.

I have never seen them, but I know Andy has before.

We try to meet up at 5:30 to start swimming and then run.  Everyone is usually finished between 7-7:30.

I know I definitely get seperation anxiety when leaving Scooter. So much so that I have actually contemplated getting a stroller to put him in when I go for my runs so I don't have to leave him. I know it's completely ridiculous and that we'll both get use to being apart with time. so for know I'm trying to cut down on travel time for my workouts.

A scooter for scooter? :p

And yes, that would be a tad high on the "what the.." meter.

Once your baby gets older it should be easier. I've been taking Coco out for the last 2-4 miles of my runs (she's almost 5, so she's a big girl and can handle the mileage). But still.....I'm at work all day, and going to BJC means I have to head out there as soon as I'm off. I just don't think I can leave her at home for 13 hours!

Sounds like a great idea to me! But do you need to focus more on OW swims or the run? I definitely need the OW swim more than anything. I do my running in the AM with the dog. I'm sure we can figure out something so we both get the swim in. We'll figure it out!

I was going to ask the same thing.  I am planning on it.  They put new buoys up over the weekend.  I think they are a little further out but not sure.

The old ones scared me. I'm pretty sure that monsters live in the coating on them.

Well I didn't swim tonight but I took out our kayak and GPS'd the buoys.  I haven't downloaded it yet but the rough distances are outer loop .33 miles.  From the shore to the first buoy is .19 miles.

Good on you Steve for showing up and working out.

Sorry, I got stuck at work until 5:30, I'd have never made it out in time for anything.

So, shore around the loop would be .5 miles approx? cool.

Hi AZ BT! I wanted to find out if anyone is planning on being at BJC this week. I am new to tris and Mountain Man will be my first OWS so I need to get a little OW practice in. If I am not mistaken I just bring beverages and I am in right Laughing? Also, has everyone been swimming in their wet suits? It seems like it is way too hot but I definately need to practice.

I will not be attending this week either. And not for the next couple of weeks either.

We are not trying to discourage any new members and hopefully someone will be out there to enjoy your barley pops.

I will be able to start attending sometime after the MoutainMan race.

Ugh! So sorry Heather! I won't be out there either. I think the holiday has everyone doing other things.  I am pretty sure I will be out there next week!!

It really IS too hot for wetsuits, but if you MUST swim in it just for some practice, then you have no choice.  Maybe you can do a short swim, then take it off, and go back for more.  FYI.....if you are escared like me......some of us swim with pull buoys because it's too hot for the wetsuit, but the pull buoy gives you just enough flotation to simulate how a wetsuit helps you float, but also gives you the confidence to know you won't drown as long as you keep that sucker tucked between your thighs!!!

Another thought might be to drive up to Flag to do a little swimming up there. Lake Mary is COLD! That + the elevation is quite the shock on race day, so it might be worth the drive to know what it will be like come race day.
