Subject: RE: The Ghoulies are taking off the pounds in February!!!ceilidh - 2010-02-02 1:03 PM ironannekidd - 2010-02-02 1:00 PM I'm going to end up making 2 different meals at my house. I eat chicken, a lot. The husband and kids eat a lot of starches. Most nights, for them, dinner is meat of some sort, corn and mashed potatoes.
I have tried to get them to eat other things but they are resistant to change. They will eat peas, carrots, or green beans if I make them. We just don't have as much of those things as we have corn.
We live on a farm, we grow a lot of our own veggies. We also butcher our own meat. I don't buy beef or pork, only my chicken. Ann, your family would starve here. Vegetarians that eat fish. There isn't a veggie I don't like. Don't get me wrong. Love them starches but the consist of bread and pasta mostly. Meat and bread, that's what I eat. My kids will eat fish, I'd rather not. I like lobster and crabs though. When they were younger they'd eat broccoli, they used to ask for it, I don't know what happened. I try to be creative with the meals, but I frequently get "that's not how grandma makes it" or "we don't eat that at grandma's." To which my response is "you aren't at grandma's now, are you?" The kids do pretty good with the fruits though. They'll go through the grapes, bananas, strawberries, and apples I get at the grocery store in 2 or 3 days. |
