bradleyd3 - 2012-12-10 1:05 PM Never.....never, ever.....pick your nose while on a bumpy road and/or going over train tracks. I now have what seems like a gash inside my left nostril and is bleeding. Super way to start the backside of a Monday.

Especially if you have a nose the size of yours.  You can probably smell-out danger with that thing...

Oh by the way, congrats on winning the heisman...

I should have been a fireman....or a drug agent. And thanks....I didn't think that I would win. Being a freshman and all. But at least I'll be able to drink for free in places......

Or an evil genius who has a buch of Tonys working for him but then at then after adopting 3 girls turns good.

I sound nothing like Steve Carrell though.

cgregg - 2012-12-10 1:34 PM TAN is way to quiet today... wazzup??   I have work to avoid and a quiet TAN is not very conducive to that.

Teej is doing hand-stands so she can puke.

Meh is shopping for the Mehusband.

Lisa is recovering from all the clothing-optional time on south beach.

Kate just got on the ground in Vegas Baby Vegas!

Yanti is unconscious.

Other than that, all the dudes are here.

Good synopsis?

It's a damned sausage-fest. :-/

For all you marathoners and longer distance types..... how long until 16-mile runs no longer hurt like &*^#@*&#@^ hell the next day?

Ok, the legs don't really hurt that bad, and I'm not having any real trouble with stairs or anything, but the shins and knees really feel kinda beat up.  Is it always like that at 15+ miles, or do you kinda adapt to it after a while?

16 was easy when the plan calls for 18, then 18 is easy when the plan calls for 20!

Ice Baths helped my knees and legs a lot, always felt better after one vs. when I did not take one!

I don't consider myself the longer distance type and I have no idea how long it takes, but I think you do adapt.  I also think it depends of effort level during your run.

This last go round, I felt pretty normal the day after a long run/ride and even felt pretty decent later that day (if I had an early workout).

^^This

I've said a number of times my formula for ice bath is 6 pack of newcastle, fried chicken, turn on water, dump ice in tub, as you sit down, grab a drumstick and a bottle of newcastle.  It keeps it from being awful.  Makes it enjoyable.

Wrong....you're wrong and stupid

Compression socks and/or compression pants during and after the run.

Advil and ice (or ice bath).

When do you know when you're ready to go for a 25K Trail Run?

ETA- GREAT, since this is at the top, I'm gonna have to give some context now.

Brad, here's a question for you... (now at the top)

I have never run in compression socks...

I tried running in them once in a HM this past May... I didn't like it at all.  They felt too restrictive.

I do like to wear the cheap $5 compression socks afterward (normally).   The legs today don't feel so bad they need an ice bath, so I guess perhaps that in itself is a sign of progress, but wearing compression socks (instead of shorts and flip flops) might have been a good idea for today.  Completely didn't even think of Advil/Aleve... taking some now.     And, I guess it is all relative... 10 used to seem like a lot, now it's trivial (which is still weird for me to think of).

They had a half road, half trail 20k or so at Turquoise Lake in Colorado.  One of the best runs I ever did (actually did it a couple time).

Don't even get me started on the Alferd Packer race they used to have in Denver - SO much fun.  I think it was the grandfather of the current tough mudder and warrior races.

According to your logs you only bike and run every now and again. That's a dumb question for someone who doesn't run.

And do cross-fit. That will help
