Congrats CitySky!

Giantsrbest, what's Rugy?

Saw Beckham on TV Thursday night after the REAL football game(USF and Rutgers) was over like at 10:45pm. I don't think he is going to last long in the U.S., he isn't getting any publicity.

Why don't you try following Southeastern Conference Football (college)?

Got 5.5 in today.

Can I follow up my previous post to say:  DANG.  I'm sore!

Trail running is fun, but the ups and downs combined with having to move your feet up more, use alot more muscles than just running on the road.

But it's fun, right?

Fun, absolutely!  On the way home I even felt okay about the obvious soreness that was already setting into the, um, high-hamstring area, thinking that might be a good thing.

But in the hours that have elapsed since, I've noticed some funky pain in my right achilles and ankle, and am especially wondering why I don't remember the part when somebody beat up and down the length of my legs with a set of hammers.   Have stunk up my apartment with the nice smelly rubs and patches.

The only solution is obviously... MORE TRAIL RUNNING!

Hey everyone--wow, we are churning out the miles, way to go, way to go!  Seriously, we're doing great--just gotta close it out this last week!  Sounds like everyone is having a good weekend!

Celeste- hardware, awesome!!  That is ALWAYS a morale booster for sure!

I took the Army Physical Fitness Test this morning and ROCKED the 2 mile run of it.  Previous personal best was about 14:15 and that was couple years ago I think...This morning, try 13:47 for me!! I am on cloud 9, this is by far (especially with the fun of a challenge) the best running month of my life.  So looking forward to the Austin Marathon in January (or running in the US in general--Giants, the UK would do too, but I'm partial to Texas! haha)!!

Continue to have a great weekend all. I'll post my plan for next week later today.  I've got just shy of 40 miles left, but don't worry, it WILL happen!  It will wear out my shoes and I'll need a new set as soon as I get home, but I want to go shopping, so that works out too!

Excellent work on the 2 mile fitness test. You go girl! Sub 7's? Wow!

We know you'll get that last 40 in. You've got 10 days to do it and with the mileage you've been racking up you could do it in what - 3 runs?

Haha, 3 runs..not quite, but...as I've now figured out next week's schedule, here it is:

M: 8.5 mi
T: lift/bike
W: 18 mi
Th: Lift/bike (or OFF)
Fri: 10.5/10.75 mi
Sat: Lift/Bike
Sun: 10K race we just found out about, so 6.2 mi

Total planned: 43 or so...gives me some wiggle room to cut off of the M/Fri run if I need to! I doubt I'll be doing any runs after the 28th as we'll be ON THE MOVE...but we'll see, I might get some short stuff in to keep loose and not sweat too much (gotta pack that stuff!)

Sorry about that - I told them to beat you gently. Apparently hammers aren't so good at gentle.

For the record, I was the one that put the bull in the china shop thinking he would intimidate the thieves. My bad.

I'm gonna try to squeeze a couple of miles in this evening, but it'll be easy cuz I'm riding tomorrow and Tuesday - probably a gentle ride tomorrow with a faster pace ride Tuesday.

Have stunk up my apartment with the nice smelly rubs and patches.

FORGOT to mention on this...Due to the mileage and shoes about to be done for, I've done the same...but I'm not in an apartment, I'm currently in a tent with about 20 other women--the majority of which are caddy and have been horribly loud at night when I'm trying to sleep (but I still stay quiet in the morning...do unto others), so oh well, Icy Hot is the new "smell" of the tent (beats some of the hair products some of 'em use!), they'll get over it!

John, are you teasing me? What's Rugby? Just because England lost last night

HISTORY OF AMERICAN FOOTBALL

Football historians, those who have studied the game and its origins, place the game’s beginnings in rugby, an English game played with many similarities to football. Rugby began in eighteen twenty-three at the famous Rugby Boys’ School in England. Another cousin of the game of football is soccer; its beginnings can also be traced to English origin, being played as early as the eighteen twenties.

Our players play offense & defense - hard men. I won't get drawn into a debate as I love the NFL. Very similar games but obviously a lot of difference.

USARUGBY LINK

D.Z. - Beckham's a tw*t (married to a scrawny bird called Posh bloody Spice) who used to play for Manchester United (soccer - surely everyones heard of them!), equivalent to, dare I say it because I like them, the New York Yankees. Shed loads of money to spend on players & win a lot of trophies. We call their fans " Glory Hunters" over here or "$h1t". Sorry girls, started to rant there. I do apologise.

And you just beat me to the 20 women in a tent comment. I was just trying to visualise Tex with all those women........ Enough of that.

CitySky am I stupid or what? When I first read

FIRST PLACE WOMAN 30-39!

I thought it was your time It was very late when I read it. Congratulations anyway. You don't look that age

Back on the bike this morning, Oh for a bike challenge! 65 miles in 4h 57m. What! you may say? I can run quicker than that. Hills, hills, & more hills. The computer estimate is over 7,000 ft of climbing. Smashes my previous best by a long way. Started as sun came up at 0730. Cold. In the valleys where there was mist temp read 38. I was thinking of you Ken - thanks for your weather forecast & "I love the fall" It cheered me up no end. - LOL

This week has been the light week for running. Next week's running schedule:
Mon 5 miles;
Wed 6 miles;
Friday 4 miles;
Sat 10 miles.

25 miles for the week. That should give me 85 miles going into the last 4 days (28th, 29th, 30th & 31st). With two 6 mile runs planned during that time, my goal (95 miles) should be met.

I forgot to add - on Friday night the weather was great so we went to Joe's Crab Shack. They've got a outdoor deck to eat on that overlooks their play area (50 ft by 50 ft sandbox with play equipment). The kids like playing there and I like eating the snow crabs. The crabs were delicious!

Running can be fun. Sorry it has affected your judgement D.Z. Just run the 10 miler and then a spring marathon and maybe that will get it out of your system.

TexMP...13:47 on the two miler......pretty good for a female.

Just kidding......thats smokin' fast! You'll be pushing 13 flat next time.

Do you mind telling us what your overall score was?

BTW.....the Auburn Tigers couldn't pull it out against the LSU Tigers.

I'll be out of town next week, not planning any running till I see where I'm staying. Hope, to get in a fast 3.5 tommorrow.

This morning turned into a 9 miler. 21 to go!  GO TEAM GO!!

JohnDeere: For the PT tested I maxed it out with a 300, if you use the extended scale, I think it's like a 364 (70 push ups, 99 situps for the rest of it).

Janice: I assume you had an enjoyable game. My teams didn't have a good weekend, a sweep of loses. Oh well, I can't watch them here so it really doesn't affect me as much. But, with only one more weekend HERE, I get to watch football in the real time, real soon.

DZ- Sweet on signing up, yeah, you'll have fun with it...the more you run, the more it's fun...this I've learned cause I used to HATE HATE HATE it...now I can't get enough of it!

Yes, 20 women in the tent, I don't want to be there either. But it's a necessary step on the way home, so as they say I will "suck it up buttercup."  But I'm having great success with the Icy Hot...I do need it..ankles and knees are a little sore as I don't get the stretch or good recovery time I need with the rushed schedule and all...so they'll just have to live with it.  Haha, I know, juvenile, but I really am using it!!

HAVE A GREAT RUNNING WEEK ALL!!

Hey everyone!

It's Monday morning here so I'll be visiting the logs to get your miles - make sure you're up to date or PM me with anything that didn't get logged yet.

I need a group decision on Lobstergirl and OffTheCouchAndTri.

Lobstergirl was on vacation last week, so she may pop in with a lot of miles and posts, or may have dropped herself. We can wait and see but it's getting late to be dropping folks if we wait until end of this week. Last week she was at 24.35%, which is where she'll report at this week unless she logs runs from her vacation when she gets back.

OffTheCouchAndTri has been logging some run/walks, but hasn't been on our thread since her first introduction. I've asked her in inspires and in PMs but have had no response as to if she's still with us. However, she is at 70% of goal as of her run/walk this past Thursday.

Do you guys want to keep them on the roster, try for one more reply/response, or go ahead and drop them this week???????????? I'm really torn, because this is a team challenge which relies on everyone to do their best and to be here and participating. Even if all the rest of us get 120% of our goals, our team can't get 100% unless everyone gets 100%. On the other hand, just knowing they are a part of this team may be encouraging to them even if they aren't participating. I'll leave it to the group consensus, so let me know how you feel, either here on the thread or PM me.

As for the rest of you - YOU ROCK!!! Everyone is doing great, and I love all the new friendships and encouragement I've found. I love the mix of newer runners and distance beasts. What a great team we have, thank you all for the inspiration!

I had a great triathlon (supersprint) on Saturday! I had a lot of fun, got to see HIM and IM distance athletes racing, and came in 3rd place in my age group (only 4 of us, but hey, I beat someone). I couldn't stay for the awards, but it's supposed to be something unique - I'll let you guys know when I get it.

Now off to patrol the logs and collect your miles/minutes/hours

********UPDATE***********
CONGRATS to JohnDeere, our first teammate to get to 100% of goal! Way to go on that 5+ miler last week! And overall our team is at 72.96% (counting Lobstergirl and OffTheCouchAndTri). Please double check my numbers as I can miss copy them sometimes!

GO TEAM BLACK MAGIC!!!!

5.1 miles for me this morning.

Give LobsterGirl until Tuesday evening to post some miles from the last week. If at that time, no miles, then cut.

As for GetofftheCouch, if she's logging miles, keep her on the team. She may not understand how to use PMs or inspires and may not like forums. She's showing activity by posting her miles.

Hardware for two people on the team this weekend! Wow! Congrats to both of you. That's not part of the challenge, is it?

Uhoh, now we have a hardware requirement...shoot...guess I will have to run hard on the 10K on Sunday!! Great job team!! This has been quite enjoyable...I've had some chances to cut some mileage or runs, but keep thinking, I pledged it, I will do it....I will do it!!

Umm, so I'm not doing any work anymore cause our replacements are doing it all. YEAH!

My feeling is that we keep both of them on the team. I'm not terribly familiar with the rules of the game, but something tells me that dropping people because they are not meeting their goal is not right. As far as thread participation goes - I don't think that is a good litmus test for whether or not to keep someone. Heck, the first challenge I did I never posted because I didn't have enough time to keep up with the 100 posts/week.

I say keep 'em. Unless they specifically request that we remove them, or tell you about an injury, they are still part of the team - good or bad.

Thanks D.Z. - that's sort of been my philosophy - but I also don't want to pressure someone who meant to drop out but didn't tell us, or who is dealing with something in life that takes precedence over participating. I absolutely wouldn't want to drop anyone because they didn't meet a goal, it's just a goal, and a personal test to see both how good you are at setting goals, and at meeting them.

So, maybe together we can get some kind of response from these ladies, and hopefully the response we'll get is 'Heck YEAH I want to be on the BLACK MAGIC team!!!'

Everyone, no matter what we can see that these two teammates could use some encouragement and love, so let's inspire the heck out of them this week, ok???

Hugs to all y'all, off to run a little and do the park workout. My shoulder is sore from the race - swimming always gets me if I'm not trained up very slowly for it.

Agree with D.Z.  I would be batting 1000 if I could cut out teammates on challenges that werent pulling their share of the load.  Lets ramp up the inspires on those two.  My only caveat is that there is zero feedback from the one person, so I dunno if that warrants participation or not.  Maybe check the inspires you left cuz sometimes folks reply to their own on their blog (doh!).

6.51 for this guy.  My legs dont seem to want to run fast at all these days.  Think first week of November is a no run week.  Have a great day yall and keep up the good work!
