Heading down to the Gold Coast tomorrow, marathon on Sunday. Weather looking good despite the longest spell of cold weather we've had since 1978.

I'm a bit worried about not having done a long run in 3 weeks but I've followed the plan to the letter so we'll see...

3 weeks???  you're screwed!   hahaha.  just kidding.  you're gonna rock!  have fun.

Talk me down, folks.  Tape's off the toe, and it doesn't look bad.  It's been 10 weeks since the soleus tear.  My registration is still on for Rev3.  I would stink at the race, but it may be fun to just go and float, spin and jog......

The adrenaline around my house is killing me.

Can you switch to the Olympic? (I'm assuming your registration is for the half).

I'm not the voice of gloom and doom, but I think that would be detrimental to the healing process.  You are competitive and I really question whether you could laze your way through this event.  You need a slow build back to the high performer you were before this started.  The eye on the prize is Tahoe.

Hey cats have a great weekend. Long weekend up here- Canada Day July 1 - Also raceday!!

Suzy - I'll be smart. I had a talking to last night from my coach about not trying to push the run. Longest run has been 13k in the last 2 1/2 months, so i know its going to be a slogfest.

Have a great marathon David!!!

Oh, I can't stop myself.  Linda, be careful, I would say Aquabike might be the ticket but not if biking hurts the calf!

I'm with Suzy on this. Linda, you're as tough as anyone I know, but mental toughness can't make your body heal faster. If you must, turn it into an aquabike, but I think trying to do an HIM run now would set you back.

Totally agreed. And if you have to walk, 13.1 is a long way to walk and then you'll be out there a long time and you'll miss the first beers at the finish!! Ha!!

What about seeing if you can do an Olympic aquabike??

No matter what you decide, you'll be there and it will be awesome to hug you!!!!! Nobody loves you any less if you don't race!!

Okay........

Heard back from the race director.  I think I'm on auto-dial for him now!

I've moved from the HIM to the Oly.  I ran a little bit today, feel good.  Will swim tomorrow, bike Sunday, see how it goes. REALLY want to do this.  Will try very hard not to be stupid.

As some of you know, Zach got a last minute reprive, is competing.  On my bike.  He's really well-trained, and if enthusiasm counts, will be a last minute entry into the olympics!  He may also beat his Dad.......

Suzy - you're right.  Won't be easy to take it easy, but if race day comes, and I don't think I can do that......I'll DNS.  I've lost nothing....I'm gonna be there anyway.  If I do the Oly, I'll still get to cheer for everyone!!   And take pics, and collect ransoms, etc........

Okay, Ms. Super Competitive.  Since you are going to do the Oly, I urge you to consider run/walk for the run portion.  Take it from someone who decided to go for the glory at her duathlon this March.  Ended up really aggravating my pf and lost maybe 2-3 months of which I am now under trained for my upcoming A race.  Tough lesson to learn.  Not absolutely sure I would have done much differently but that's my story and I'm sticking with it!

And run/walk does not translate to run until you have to walk!!!  LOL, have fun out there, be careful and keep it real.  And Kyla's right, we aren't going to love you any less if you decide not to race.

8 people, 2 vehicles, 4 canoes, 1 dog, 16 hour drive. Let the fun begin. Linda, it sounds like you are getting good advice and making wise choices.

If Linda is Ms. Super Competitive, what do we call you?  Ms. Super Duper Triple Competitive?  Well written advice!  I've done the same thing minus getting the glory and was set back for a couple of months too.  I had plenty of time to think about how stupid my actions were.  I'm glad you're thinking carefully about this Linda.

Touché! Should have addressed it "to someone I care about very much who is ALMOST as competitive and maybe just as stubborn as me...". Minnow, go crush your Oly!
