Dirk said he was wave 1, corral 9... wave 1 started at 10:00am, wave 2 started at 10:20... I'm not sure what that means in terms of what time he may have started?  Also are the splits every 10k?

eta... okay I see on the BAA website it's every 5k?  text messages every 10k though?

Following my friend Stacy, I have received a 10k update and just now a 1/2 update.  So I don't know what interval the text messages are coming in.

She did the half in 1:29:12.  That looks good for her sub 3:00 goal...except it doesn't take in to account heartbreak hill.  But then again, it doesn't take in to account the final mile surge.  So maybe she'll make it.

I expected to hear about Dirk by now, but I will be patient...

Dirk's half was 1:39:25. Looks like the tracker is working now he is over 23 km now.

I signed up for the text messages and was told I'd be receiving updates but haven't gotten anything!

Averaging in the 7:30s at all splits!  Looks good to me!  But what was his goal?

40 km down 2 to more to go, Dirk is blazing a trail out there in Boston. He's almost there.

Congrats to Dirk awesome, awesome job 3:24:33! I hope he got to take it all in while he was out there.

What's going on in Boston? Two explosions near the finish line at around 3 PM. I hope Dirk and everyone with him is alright because it looks like it was pretty bad.

x2 Thank God all the Junkies are alright but very sad to see this happen. Thoughts and prayers with all those affected by this tragic event.

Just wanted to report in from Boston.  Dirk and his family and I were a few blocks away when the explosions happened, so we're all fine.  I wasn't able to hook up with them until after the race, though I did see Dirk finish.  He looked strong and awesome, though he'll claim otherwise.

Having just witnessed the explosions for the first time, I was standing literally right next to the first barrel about 35 minutes before.  Life is precious and not at all certain so live it like it's the real thing and not a dress rehearsal.  Tell those you love how you feel about them often.
