elektra - 2006-12-28 4:11 PM But I don't want to see firewomen...

I don't particularly care WHAT they do for a living.

Although, I'm developing a penchant for technology headhunters.......

*blushes*

Speaking of which....I really should send an email or two today...

Need to learn how to multi-task, my dear.

Plus, it makes it look like I'm typing more code......

What is your primary language?

Mostly VB.Net.  Before this I was using a proprietary language, called G2.  Languages aren't real hard to learn, once you get the core fundamentals of programming down.  Besides, I'm not planning on doing anything like driver writing or anything.  I'm quite happy sticking to business-type apps.  I have NO desire to make a faster bubble sort.

See, this is why you need to upgrade yourself to being a PiMP.  I set the project plan, tell the programmers what to do and when to do it by, and then sit back and play on BT.

If someone asks me a question, I flip over to Outlook and say 'Why don't we set up a con call on that sometime next week?'  Usually, by the time they get back to their desk, they've forgotten all about it.

Since our development staff consists of a supervisor, two code monkeys, and a DBA, we are our own PMs.  I gather all the requirements, I write all the documentation, I do the programming.  Heck, on the one, I wrote most of the SPs.....Of course, I have no stress, I can run at lunch, I get paid pretty good, we get bonuses, and I started the job with 10 days of vaca.  Plus, our retirement plan, they don't do a match, they pay into it regardless of what I put in....This place is pretty good, actually.

I see a lot of VB.Net as well as C#.net.  CFG...you're a PMP??  (How YOU doin'?)

See? Now I can justify my BT time...I'm networking!!!

Yeah, with a background in coding VB, C#, and SQL.  :D

I don't really know if you'd consider this "networking" simply because you already know that we would suck at the jobs you refer us for because of our addiction to BT.  Well, I guess if the hiring company had a good EAP and gave time off for rehab.

Heh.  I was thinking that, too.  God help me if I ever interview and they ask if I know about this site.....

You reply the same way that you do about those 'photos'.  You were young, you needed the money, and he promised not to c...oh, forget it.

I feel like the kid that is sick and has to stay in on a snow day. All I can do is occasionally look out my BT window to see you guys outside playing and having fun. Back to work. This sucks...

TIMMY STARTED IT!!!!

I'm out of here and off to the wife pregnancy checkup and ultrasound. Boy? Girl? Will we want to find out?? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Cool!!!!!  Let us know!!!

I'm Back.  The good news is.....It's still a baby.     And we are holding off till birth to find out if the "stem is on the apple" or not.

Ultrasound shows that at 20 weeks...all is good.  Progressing at the 50th-percentile.

I wish I had pics of me in uniform.  Alas, I do not.  I think there are some from my graduation and Dining Out, where I got to wear my dress blues, but they aren't at work.....*sigh*.

That was cool, by the way.  I was a marshall for graduation, so I got to lead the procession, and sort of act as usher during the ceremony.  I was also the last person across the stage for the undergrads.  All while in dress blues, spurs, and Stetson.  Wish I had a saber at the time, too.  That would've been really spiffy.

I'm a geek on so many levels.........
