Yesterday was my designated day off.  Today nice short steady ride (I'm on a rest week, and this is my shorter ride), 12.57miles in 54min 33sec.  Beautiful day to be outside.  Really picked up my mood :-)

Ernesto - hope you're feeling better.  I'll have Kevin introduce himself tonight.

Subject: RE: Ernesto's group (third season) - CLOSED

So the pool I usually swim at has been closed for two weeks and have had to swim closer to home rather than work.  To get in my workouts I had to stack a bike (1:15:00 on the drainer) and a swim (46:00) workout back to back.  Not much left in the tank after the swim.  I managed to get these workouts both in by 6:45 am, which means I am getting up way too early and consuming too much caffeine during the day. Next week is my recovery week (and the pool near work should be back online) so I just need to hang on until Friday.

Matthews,

Call Garmin or search google for your symptoms. Both have worked in the past for a lot of people.

I've been sleeping pretty much all day after a night of insomnia. Good news is that I'm starting to feel better, tomorrow I should be pretty close to normal. I may hit the treadmill for a while this evening. Wink

Glad you're feeling better Ernesto!!!  Beautiful day here so Scott came home for lunch so that we could ride outside finally.  Unfortunately I struggled up the immediate hill from home.  We rested at the top and began the awesome downhill ( I've been up to 40mph in the past). I "drank" some heed and began coughing right out of the box.  Couldn't stop coughing and had to stop and get of the bike.  Was not a pretty site on the side of the road and my cough was so hard I began to heave.  Scott had to ride back home and get the car to pick me up.  Chest still tight, and feels scratchy.... So much for today's ride....  I think the Heed ended up in my lungs..  I've done that before with beer and ended up in the hospital with pneumonia and still have scarring in my lungs and possibly a cyst from it.  Nothing like drowning in a teaspoon of Heed!

Today: morning run 7.3 miles in 1:10:50 + bike workout at the velodrome 20.68 miles in 1:02:06.  I was 15 minutes into my bike workout when my right shift gear lever broke and had to continue the rest of my workout in the lowest gear.  They are SRAM Rival which are supposed to be good quality, so I had to go straight to my LBS to complain Yell.  We will see if SRAM honors the warranty.

Matthews, I had the same issue with my Garmin and the problem ended up being with the battery contact in the strap which was loose.  Try opening up the battery compartment in the HR strap and move a little towards the battery the little metal contact to ensure that it has a tight contact with the battery.  Hopefully that will work.

Hi guys, I'm Rachel's husband, Kevin. I will introduce myself and catch up with the March challenge below.

Name: Kevin

Username: corybantes

Story: This is my second season of Triathlon. I did a couple of sprints, olympics and a half IM in first season and have decided to move on to the full IM for this year.

I am a Corporate Manager for a bank which means that although I don't work weekends, I do work long hours during the week. Inevitably this has a knock on effect on my training. I have always been active, but didn't come to triathlon with a particular specialism.

Family status: Married to Rachel, no children!

CURRENT TRAINING: Training somewhere around 10 hours per week at the moment at the start of my IM training plan

THIS YEAR'S RACES: Ironman Zurich in July and Ashington Sprint in May

WEIGHTLOSS: Lost about 10kg last year and want to repeat again. I have a fairly unhealthy relationship with sweet foods such as biscuits and cakes, but everyone has their crosses to bear

Thanks for allowing me to join at this late stage.

Regards

Kev

Here goes with my first update in the March challenge.

Ran for a little over 90 mins and did a 30 minute cool down on the turbo trainer. Was planning on swimming tonight, but unfortunately work got in the way again and didn't get home in time. Not unhappy with March so far though.

Geeeeeeeoorgeous day outside. 55 degrees and sunny. I ran on Sunday morning and it was 5 F. Was supposed to do speed work, but my calves were sore so I did a 10 mile Maffetone run instead. Loved it. 8:52 pace and 130 bpm heart rate.

I got on the dreadmill for forty minutes, I meant to do two ladders but after the first one I decided it was enough. Still not firing on all cylinders.

Good to see you are up and about again Ernesto. It may be at a slower pace but just think how fresh you will be when you fully recover

I don't know the rest, but I like the challenge more than the previous ones, I think it focuses a lot more on variety rather than a lot of volume. Thoughts?

I have to agree Ernesto. It has made me focus more on the swim with a commitment to aim for a 30min swim 5 days a week. The ride and the run are left for after work and the swim is at 5am in the morning.

Just tried your idea Gabe and it worked. Will need to see how it goes now when i exercise this afternoon.

Welcome to the team Kevin. Enjoy the challenge .

Welcome Kev.  Good to have you.

Mark, glad you had a swimming breakthrough.  Relish that first race!

Gabe, SRAM was pretty good on my new bike when the bolt on my shifter fell out somewhere along the road.

Matthews, Garmin is great.  They will bend over backwards to help.

Ernesto, listen to your body.  I like this challenge a lot!

Mitch, you can not have 32 bike sessions in a 31-day month!  I can't believe Chris let you slide on that one.
