TheSchwamm - 2007-10-01 11:34 AM This is closer to reality than you may believe.

I saw that this weekend. Quality.

I see you're still alive. Are you going to run Chicago or not? I'd err on the side of caution if you've got a nasty variety of strep... unless you have a miraculous recovery by Wed, and then run-walk the thing for practice.

I'm taking a wait-and-see approach. It is a nasty strain, but hopefully the antibiotics will kick in and get rid of it. The thing is, I know I was already undertrained, and now, after hardly running at all for the last couple of weeks.... yikes. If I run at all on Sunday, it will be interspersed with a significant amount of walking.

The downside - and I'm sure Scout/Tim will confirm this - of doing this kind of a distance undertrained, even if doing a lot of walking - is that you'll inflict some kind of injury on yourself that will make training for a while afterwards difficult...

Yeah, even if you don't injure yourself, you're gonna be hurting afterwards.  Sometimes, discretion is the better part of valor.

It is nearly time to go home!  I might be able to fit in 3 miles before I have to start running kids around.  Luckily it is raining so that should cool me off.

I better see something in those logs tomorrow.  You got some miles to put in, you know.

The rational part of me knows this. It does. But I've had this marathon on the schedule since May, have been preparing for it mentally and physically, and I'm having a hard time letting it go. The word "fail" is very much on my mind at the moment, even though I knew the HIM was my A race and that if I had to sacrifice one of the two, I'd sacrifice the mary.

We know you are, but we still let you on our team....

Speaking of...  If anyone has any questions at all about their running or whatever, feel free to PM me if you don't want to ask out in public.  Also, if you have any sot of special requests, like helping develop a plan, or just feel that you need some additional...whatever...  let me know, and I'll see what I can do.

A) When you pee?  I got a solution for that.  It's called HTFU.
B) When you sit down?  I got a solution for that.  It's called HTFU.
C) When you have sand in your panties?  I got a solution for that.  It's called HTFU.

OK so the doc (she was a total hottie) said I just have post-nasal drip (the words I long to hear from every hot woman I meet) and I'm on the tail end of the cold. A couple days and I'll be good as GOLD!

She gave me something with some big expectorant that'll clear out the gunk. Yeeehawl!

Speaking of running, I've just tossed this little dungbomb kind of smack into the October Run Challenge threads:

Wimps. There is NO way they can beat us.  Other than El Flaco and Texoma on Cat's team, I don't see anyone else with the #er of serious runners who will ensure that our entire team HTFU'es and makes goal.

Good morning, TAN!

The TAN running team might have serious runners ... but newbie Team Bump has sandbaggers, a cheerleader, and instead of people howling HTFU, genuine inspiration from someone tough and crazy enough to wear a tarantula on her face.

My money's on the tarantula, personally.
