Master 1318![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Houston | Subject: RE: Evondo's Group - FULLSo I think I already told you guys but I replaced my crank and wheel bearing with ceramic because I sweat like no other and there was a nice grinding sound coming out of the rear wheel and crank where all the sweat drops. The cost to upgrade to ceramic really wasn't much over the standard bearings and I'm not sure I'll be able to quantify the difference in speed but here's what I did... Put the chain in small cog (hardest gear) and gave the cranks a couple good turns by hand while the bike was on the bike stand... Let go and timed how long the wheel AND crank kept turning and I was amazed.... 1:27 without touching anything the crank and wheel kept going around and around. I did the same thing with Betsy's bike which isn't really a 1-to-1 comparison but pretty close... :09-:10. I've seen the youtube videos showing bearing upgrade differences but it was always done without the chain attached and I thought that having the extra force of the chain wouldn't show as much of a difference. How that translates into speed I have no idea but I thought it was pretty cool... Trin2bfast - 2009-08-05 6:20 PM evondo - 2009-08-05 4:24 PM Race setup is all ready to go for the weekend! Wheel cover... that is what I am going to run for Florida. let me know what you think of it. Did you get it precut, and was it easy to mount? (remove rear cog & bolt on right?) Looks fast brother! Did you get BvD a fast rear wheel? She needs one too ya know! |

Master 1318![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Houston | Subject: RE: Evondo's Group - FULLAnyone in the group drink Nuun? One of my friends recommended it and he said that it tastes great so I ordered some to give it a shot... Tri berry and lemon-lime, I think they both taste like crap so am I missing something? Am I supposed to double up the tablets or plug my nose as I drink it to make it taste good? |

Master 1209![]() ![]() ![]() New York, NY | Subject: RE: Evondo's Group - FULLI've been using Nuun for a couple months. Took me a while to decide if I liked it or not. At first not so sure, but then started adding to 2 tablets (16-24 oz bottles)...much better. Try doubling up...it won't taste as bland & bleh. I like it in part bc it doesn't have all the sugar & calories of sports drinks. But, with that said I also wouldn't use it in a longer race as a substitute for GE. I've tried tri-berry, lemon-lime, citrus & orange-ginger. evondo - 2009-08-06 8:43 AM Anyone in the group drink Nuun? I am a gun supporter, and I understand some of the pleas of the concealed carry folks... but really it is a bigger pain in the butt then its worth... Even at the gym in Pittsburgh, highly unlikely that even a trained person would have been able to adequately and safely respond with their own firearm. Carrying a gun and having to actually use it on another person isn't as easy as people think it is... and the aftermath is not what you think it is either. First hand experience... had to but there is nothing about it that was enjoyable! That I guarantee!!! I will step down from my soap box now.
