INCREDIBLE TULK (That should be your new BT name by the way)- I'll have to watch the video again more carefully with that in mind. Thanks for telling me. Your wife is a butt kicker.

NOAH- An Ironman in May already? Wow! ...Oh, and in May no less! Whew! I've done Steelhead a few times and have enjoyed it. It's a nice race. The swim has been cancelled twice since it has been around, but I wouldn't let that stop you if you are considering that event.

2012- Well, at this point my intention is to really get after Olympic distance next year, and maybe round the season out with the 1/2 Rev @ Sandusky. However, I have not decided on this yet. I might check out the HITS triathlon in Traverse City, MI in October, but I'm a tad nervous about how cold it could possibly be.

Hi all,

I'm trying to decide on 2012 races now. I'm considering Ironman Texas 140.6 on May 19th and then either Ironman Racine (WI) 70.3 on July 15th or Ironman Steelhead (Benton Harbor, MI) on August 19th.

What are your thoughts?

I'd love to hear about everyone's plans for 2012! Share away...Smile

-Noah

Have you looked at the REV 3 in the Wisconsin Dells?

Alright, I think I'm going to sign up tonight for Rev 3 Full Cedars Point which is NEXT weekend.  Sounds nuts, I know, but it also sounds like fun...

Still mad about walking a 5:47 marathon at IMKY due to cramps.  Figure my recovery time is less (I feel great and have all week) since I didn't have to run the hardest part.

I'm considering St. George and/or full Vineman and I'm definitely going to IMAZ this November to sign up for 2012.  Already have 3 marathons in the plans tho between Jan and June - not to mention Oceanside 70.3 - so it might be tough to "squeeze in" a St. George haha.  I did sign up for the Alcatraz lottery.

Oh yeah, and wasn't it just a few weeks ago when I was saying how much I was looking forward to focusing on short stuff?  Sigh.

This is the Tat I plan on getting after the season, minus the flames, its 3D ("Cubed"). I would like to color it in with dark red fading to light red and IMKY 11 under the left part of the M, then next yr get IMFL 12 under the right part.
(hope this file comes across ok)

Great job to all the finishers... especially the first- time IMers. I know I never posted much in this thread, but I definitely lurked and fed off everyone's excitement!!

Someone asked if Augusta was too soon to consider this year. Well I am signed up for Augusta and IM FL in a few weeks, but I might not be the best person to ask! (Although Augusta did just sell out)

Great job and maybe I'll run into some of you at another race sometime

I'm thinking IM Louisville again in 2012 to try for a better time (I'm disappointed in my "run").

Or I'm thinking IM Florida or Beach to Battleship Full distance for a flatter course.

Congrats to all!!!!!!!!

Ok, I got my tatto today!  I'm going to try to attach a picture (I'm not very good at this stuff!).

The first one is for Wisconsin (no color since I didn't finish), the second one is for Florida (orange & blue) and the third one is for Louisville (red & black).  I plan to add more as I continue to do them ~ Lake Placid 2012 ~ and make it wrap up and around my ankle!

Nope, can't figure out how to get the picture in this message instead of an attachment (which it wouldn't let me do cuz it was too big I guess).  How did you guys get the picture in the message?

What I did was upload the image to http://imageshack.us/ and then copy the "Direct Link" URL on imageschack and place that into the "Image URL" field on BT. Click Submit, done.

Hope that helps.

At this point 98.9% of the content of my book is complete. Next comes inserting names and results and then the big task of editing.

OH! Those of you who were in the photo with me at the Athlete Dinner. Do I have your permission to put that photo in my book, along with your names? AND, if you want the photo, e-mail me about that as well.

I received several e-mails indicating interest in allowing me to put their names and results in the appendix. I you still have an interest in this, please e-mail me your race number and also let me know if you want me to notify you when the book is complete. My e-mail is [email protected]. It's not too late...YET.

I will of course be posting on this forum when it is done. With a LOT of luck, it could be in the next two weeks.

Cool tattoo!  Another thing I've seen is the smaller signature icon that represents each race tied into the M-Dot somehow to differentiate between races (pine tree for CDA, Louisville Fleur de Lis,etc.).

Tri Sam - not sure if I was in the Starbucks pic since I got there late, but you're welcome to use my info - I did ask the site admin for a name change to "fullironmike" btw :)

Thanks guys!

halfiron, I mean fullironmike  ~ I thought about that, too!  I was thinking about the little symbols (capitol building, sunshine, fleur di lis); however, decided to go with the colored mdots instead!  I hope it's not too much!

I would LOVE to do Louisville again next year, it was so much fun and is a great venue, but like Sam and a few others I am going to focus on my speed and power for a while at the oly and sprint distances (with the occasional 70.3 sprinkled in, prob Muncie next year and definitely Eagleman at some point). I am sure I can't stay away from the glory of the full iron for long (I secretly give it no more than 3 years, probably less), and IMLOU will be at the top of my list again. For now I am getting back on it and taking advantage of this year's fitness to do an oly (favorite distance) for the first time this year at the Muncie Powerman Oct. 1. Then I will try to get a good marathon time at the Indianapolis Monumental marathon in November, just to see what I am capable of.

Oh yeah, I am determined to get a tat this year (don't tell the wife). My idea is simple and pretty subdued, just the 140.6 on the shoulder-blade or upper arm with the M-dot for the 'point' (see below if it worked). Here are some drafts, what do you guys think? And which font?tat

What's happening folks? The race is over and we still can't get enough of this thread. I guess Ironman does that to us.

Stacie--nice tat. had to hurt on the foot though. hope they used a baby needle.

I'm undecided about a memorial tattoo. Not sure what design. I like the figures--swim/bike/run like TRIsam. Worried about finding a quality tattoo artist locally however. I'll keep researching since it'll be with me for awhile.

My wife veto'd an ironman next year...damn it. I thought I was doing a good job helping out. Must have been mentally absent too. I want to do some of the local races...my local tri-club members are getting big egos thinking they can take down my records..will have to show them the old man can still burn in the sprints..Ha Ha!.. No really...I will probably do an early 70.3--either Gulf Coast Tri or New Orleans, then a late 70.3--Augusta or Branson. Mix in a few run local sprints to keep blood pressure low as my daughter will be getting her driver's license next summer--Lord, help us!
