Happy Friday!

My 'long' run is out of the way for the day so I get to just relax until the race which will be nice My goals for this race are to stay on course and have a solid race. I'm a little worried about my running speed but it's supposed to cool down a bit to 76F at race start which might help!

What does everyone else have planned for the weekend?

KelliD - 2009-08-07 8:44 AM Happy Friday!!!!

I have a strong feeling the vD's are gonna be throwing down a super soeedy race this Sunday

Thanks Betsy!!

Betsy0706 - 2009-08-07 10:22 AM In my other BT group, the mentor leader did that race.  You should check out her RR.

KelliD - 2009-08-06 3:36 PM I'm gonna hold off a year.  When it comes down to it I just don't want to shell out the dinero right now.  I did have another race that I was considering as a plan b....not an M-dot race so the price tag is also @ $100 less....I like this   Plan B is Musselman HIM upstate in the Fingers Lakes, which is a gorgeous area.  And if I'm feeling really motivated (which I sort of am at the moment) I could do the DoubleMussel....sprint on Saturday and HIM on Sunday.

evondo - 2009-08-05 5:29 PM Yikes! You signing up soon?

KelliD - 2009-08-05 1:46 PM I was just checking the Eagleman website.  Registration opened yesterday....out of 2200 slots, ONLY 640 still open!

I'm coming out of my triathlon cave, and starting the weekend (and taper ) off joining my gf's for happy hour after work.  Tomorrow morning is our annual club championships race for all the local runnings clubs....my legs aren't really up for racing so I'm gonna cheer on my teammates and play photographer.  At some point I need to get in a 13 mile run and 59 mile bike.

I spent the entire night last night in the hospital with my husband.

After about a thousand tests they still have no idea what's wrong.

I am so tiered.

Yikes! I know this is a stupid question since he's in the hospital but is he alright? What happened?

Hopefully he gets better soon! Let us know when you've got any updates...

Not a stupid question...

He's okay.  We honestly don't know what's wrong.  He had a stabbing pain in his left eye, was vomiting blood, running a fever, dizzy and in extreme pain.

They ruled out a stroke and a brain tumor.  He's going to have to go to a neurologist to figure out what it is.

He's been getting headaches in the middle of the night for about a week, ususally bad enough that they wake him up.  But last night he was doubled over in pain and nearly crying.  I have never, ever seen my husband in enough pain that he reacts to it like that- and I've seen him with broken bones, after surgeries, etc.

Honestly, I'm still terrified because I don't know what  it is.  But, I know him well enough to know that it might be stress enduced migranes.  Bad news is, I can't fix that.  He has to figure otu how to manage his own stress.

Hopefully we'll know more after he gets in with a specialist.

Thanks for the thougths and prayers.

Happy Monday everyone!

Was a good weekend on the race front, race report is up...
http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=174033

Betsy did well too although she may not be as happy with it as she should be.  She swam more freestyle than any other previous OWS, bike was on par and the run was very humid which slowed the pace a bit...

Huge thanks to Justin for bringing ice cold free beer for us! Apparently the race director forgot to put the beer on ice before the race so it was warm for everyone else.

How was everyone's weekend?

So I was going to make today my off day but after my first real long run I made Sunday my day off. No real good stories to tell this week just plan old unevent full.

The Mrs. will be doing her first race Sunday. I dont think she is as ready for it as she thinks she is. Hopefully once she does one it will get her going.

Haha thanks guys, most triathletes are their own worst critic... I'm no exception My swim/run really weren't anywhere near my fastest but I was pleased with the bike split.  It was nice to have a solid race for the first time this year that's for sure!

Happy Monday!!!  I had one of the best weekends of the whole summer....well, on the non-training front.  For the most part the weather was near perfect.  I caught up with a lot of friends, some of which I haven't spent a lot of time with in the past couple months.  It was so great!   There was a lot of time spent at outdoor bars on the river, drinking & eating entirely too much, going to picnics & cook-outs.

I don't know that it will fully happen, but I'm planning to stay off the sauce until after Timberman.  And also on that note, taper starts today....woo hoo

Sweet! I'm guessing it's a sprint... what distances? Nothing like a pushing through a rough tri to make you realize more training is necessary

Nice race this weekend Eric!  CAn't wait to read the Mrs.'s report too!

Wooo Hoooo for a taper Kelli!

I have absolutely nothing exciting to report on the training front... but Chris bought a new car!  We also figured out that his stabbing pain is because he needs a root canal in a molar that had a cavity in it years ago.

So, happy Monday everyone.  I'm actually really excited to have a great week at work!

Okay, okay...race report is finally up.

http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=174210

Was not very happy with my performance - last race of the year and I felt it was my worst race of the year.  BUT - it is just a race.  I'm definitely ready to give myself a bit of a break from all the training.

So glad to hear your hubbie is okay Nicole.

Betsy, you totally did great in your race.  August is a hard month to race in because of the heat and humidity.

Maybe you make your A race in May next year?
