I just noticed my race position changed from Sunday.  Up to 7th Age Group and 47th overall.  Penalties?  Less than a minute out of 5th now, which would have been a podium spot.  If only I had my act together in a few places.  Oh well, it was still fun and I still got the slot.  If I really deserve a podium finish then it won't be a one-time performance.  It'll be from consistently doing really well.

I still can't believe Bart Aernouts pulled a 2:11 on the bike in those conditions.  That is some insane riding.

I think definitely penalties and DQ's that weren't on the initial results.  I can no longer find the results from a friend of mine in our age group who thought he might have been DQ'd.  I think initial results said something like 1885 finishers, but now only counting 1300+ - seems like a big discrepancy.

My results actually put me back a few places on the bike and the run.

Any idea how many actually started and how many actually finished?  1,331 finishers out of supposedly 2,000 registered seems awfully low.  I was bib #1377, and only saw 2 bikes sitting in transition ahead of me without owners when I took off, and it looked pretty darn full before that.

Looks like photos are up if anyone cares: http://www.finisherpix.com/recent_events.html?&pcevent=0127 The prices are ridiculously expensive in my opinion.  I wouldn't pay that much even if they were good photos of me, I had the best race of my life, and I placed.  I think I could have hired a personal photographer to chase me around all day for less money and better results.

The Pocono Record took a lot of photos of racers as well, although I wasn't lucky enough to make it: http://www.poconorecord.com/apps/pbcs.dll/section?Category=PHOTOS10...

Mine were up at finisherpix.  Wonder if they post them as the complete them.  There are a lot of photos to go through, and they did say by the end of the week.

Second link didn't seem to be working, but maybe this will.  Might have to scroll a touch to see the Photo Galleries.  Didn't recognize any of the age-groupers in there.

Where is Dream Chaser?  He was so excited before.  Did he make through ok?

I am visiting the Poconos for a family vacation next weekend and need to get in a long ride, doing IM Wisconsin in September.  I planned on doing the 70.3 bike course for up to 80 miles.  A family member called the resort and was told that these roads are not cyclist-friendly.  Not sure if that's just the opinion of a non-road cyclist or if it's really dangerous and wanted some feedback on whether it is safe to ride these roads, please.

Thank you.

I went up in March (I am from NY) and wanted to see the course I would be racing in September ... if you ride the shoulder you should be fine ... just keep your hands on the brakes on the downhills and you should be fine.

(The course changed since I rode it - the first 21 miles that are an out and back flat I rode as well just not on the same day I did the course ride - I did not pass a single car on that road) ...

A group of us are heading there this weekend to do the bike course. Because T1 and T2 are so far apart we are going to start and finish from the high school. I don’t think it’s a big deal to start and end from the high school, but I have no idea what traffic will be like on 209. Since it cuts through the state park I think it shouldn’t be that bad, but I guess we will see. Doing the course in reverse does mean that we have a step climb into what would have been T1, rather than a steep downhill out of T1. If we cut out anything, that 3.75 mile stretch would be the thing to cut.

Here is the 2012 course  as closely as I could draw it from the cue sheet. I get 55.41 to 55.47 miles, depending on which application I use to read the .tcx (Garmin) file. Pretty close to 56.

If you have a mapping Garmin unit, use the bikeroutetoaster.com .tcx file, as it will do turn-by-turn navigation with arrows and warning 200 feet before the turn. I also uploaded it to mapmyride.com.
