Sounds like there was some exciting things going on over the weekend!

Tammy and I were part of an indoor marathon relay and our team took 1st place in the Co-ed division!

Spotted Cow - I'll be doing Racine as well

Hot Runner - I fell a couple of times with the clip in issues....not to mention learning the aerobars

...oh and how about those PACKERS!!

Ok...new question.  I seem to have trouble finding the right fit for tri/running tops and stuff.  I don't think I'm freakishly tall but, I hate that all tops seem to look and feel like crop tops on me.  I'm 5'8 and probably pretty normal weight (125-130ish).  Maybe my torso is longer than "normal"?

I hate all Zoot stuff - always seems tight and uncomfortable, with weird placement of very prominent  seams.  Also seems like a lot of brands are tight and rub under the armpits, which makes me crazy.

I'd also like some shorts recommendations.  I love my pearl izumi cycling shorts but they have the diaper butt padding so I need something more tri specific.

Suggestions welcomed.  Thanks!

Embarassed to admit I have the pedal equivalent of training wheels--one side is a flat platform where you don't clip in but it is set up so you're on there without slipping. I use this side for riding down the parkway. Falling over there would not be just embarrassing, but potentially fatal given the traffic. (Most of you seem to be midwesterners, so envision Chicago-area freeway at rush hour, with no traffic laws or cops, and people carrying 20-foot bamboo poles on tuk-tuks.) Then when I get to the industrial park (no traffic, basically), I flip the pedals and clip in. Several of my bike buddies have these. I'll probably switch to "grown-up" pedals for racing, since they'd be lighter and I wouldn't have to worry about flipping to the correct side.

Tri suit advice: I think I'm similar in build--I'm medium tall (between 5'7" and 5'8"), skinny (about 115 to 120) and apparently long-waisted, since a lot of brands run too short on me.  This includes Zoot tops. The small is too short and the medium is too loose for the swim. I have had good luck with Danskin. It's comfortable and my top definitely covers the belly button (required in some Asian races) with room to spare.  As for shorts, DON'T go with Danskin. I originally got the matching shorts, and they lasted ONE brick workout. I rode an easy 40K with Mom and when I got off we noticed they had already worn out on the sides.  By the time I had run 10K there was a hole.  It wasn't a fit or bike seat issue--poor seam stitching. Thank goodness REI exchanged them at no cost.  I ended up with Zoots, which were a lot more expensive, but very comfortable and, so far, durable. I like that they come in longer lengths--more acceptable here. BTW Pearl Izumi makes tri-specific shorts and other stuff--I have a pair of their tri shorts--more substantial padding than my Zoots but too short to wear here in Asia, outside of races in Singapore, maybe.

I have had great luck with TYR tri shorts and tops.  The padding is light but so comfortable and "durable".  Then again I am probably the exact opposite build....short and stubby...5'2" and 120lbs.  I have never had any rubbing or chafing issues with TYR but I also use glide before long races just under my armpits...sorry not very descrete.  Ohh well...I think when triathletes talk about peeing in their wetsuits or on the bike...modesty is out the window..lol!

Good luck on the quest for the perfect tri suit and let us know what you find.  I am always on the look out for new tri clothes!

For anyone that is interested in traveling north for a little fun....Marshfield is having their first ever Duathlon!  I am one of the race coordinators....yup..scary, know!  So it is in conjunction with our Hub City Days on July 30th..registration at 8:30, race at 10:30...2 mile run/15 mile bike/ 2 mile run.  The bike is through beautiful country.  Afterwards you can walk a few blocks downtown and take in the beer tasting event and street DJ in the evening along with a pork cook-off and old car show!

We are looking at chip timing and for sure dri-fit shirts.   All proceeds will go to benefit Children's Miracle Network and Youth Net.

What the heck...add another race to the calender!  Surprised

Racine  list is updated now to include:

Sandals06, JJKatzenberger, Spottedcow, tripletmom01, irunfit, and Oriolepwr      with CyclingSusie awarding us our medals!  (that would be cool)   quite a group so far.     Anyone else??

At swim tonight,  I see a lady wearing a towel around her waist at the other end of the pool.   I'm thinking  "strange that towel looks just like mine, which is weird as its a unique beach towel"    Then I look and notice that my towel is missing!!!    stopped the swim got out and had to actually say Ummm  if you are finished with my towel, can I have it back?   LOL   so she gives it back to me.  No sorry, no embarrassed look.   just hands it to me and its all wet.    I had to use the towel too after showering cause  The Gold's gym I go to, does not have towels (they are trying to save $$$)    GREAT!  so now I smell like that lady  ha!    I think I'll go and take another shower.   I don't know where she has been.

About to go AWOL to Laos to escape the annual Tet madess. Might get in a few runs in Vientiane (to watch the monks gathering alms and sunrise on the Mekong) but once I get out in the boonies "training" is just going to be a few days of kayaking, splashing in the river, and eating lots of sticky rice and grilled fish.  Think I've earned my little break.  Happy Year of the Rabbit/Cat, everyone!

So thought I had found my bike today but it was sold before I got there. I am so disappointed. Did an endurance spin class today. Will add strength training as I start month 2 of my tri training plan this week. 3 weeks until my next 5K. I may have a fracture in my right foot. I am hoping it is something else but I am icing as we speak has been hurting for a while but its getting worse.  Hope everyone has a great training week
