How was the vodka? I find it the ultimate way to mellow out after stressful situations.

Good morning, Nibbs. Guess what my hubby ebayed for me and gave me last night? A Garmin 305! My Polar battery died and I had to send it off to get the batteries replaced. So I've been training naked except on the road bike. Now I have a new toy! I am so lucky. I do not know how the man can stand me sometimes (especially when I'm hormonal). He can be so thoughtful.

Morning Pam

That Garmin is sweet....I'm soooooo jealous cause I want one too and it just isn't in the budget right now.  Hmm, maybe when I leave my current job and get to cash in my PTO bank I can squirrel away enough bucks for one of those babies...though he'll want to use it to pay for a few other things I'm sure...

AAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

uh oh!

what happened?

W-O-R-K - Im not two people.... somehow being short one staff member does not mean less workload for the team....

Sigh.... Im trying to work out how Im going to do anything well....or finish anything... not good thoughts at almost 5pm on a Friday!

Hang in there Cat.  Some days it's possible to see the light at the end of the tunnel.  I've been working my butt off on this project...was at work late last night.

Opened up my e-mail this morning, and found a very complimentary note from one of the operations business managers thanking me for going above and beyond and for keeping a cool head amidst the chaos.

It's nice that someone took some time out to write that short e-mail.  It made an INCREDIBLE difference in my attitude this morning.

Something we all need to remember.  Sometimes a small, kind act goes a long way...

Pay it forward...

Well that was what happened with my last job - burnout basically... but so far this place has been good to me so Im not going to start worrying about it yet! Im sure if I say in a month....

I actually have a review next week (annual) so they might share with me what they are thinking about doing with staff etc then!

Let's hope it is good news!

and that you are recognized and rewarded for all of the contributions you make

you have had some stellar presentations from what I can tell, and you should be duly rewarded!

Well, that's gonna be good. The review, I mean, and hopefully knowing what's going on ...

The redhead will be fetching me tomorrow evening. !  THANK YOU so much Beth, I swear, when it comes to boys I have serious blinders on ... unless, of course, there's cheesecake, that gets my attention pretty quick .

Tomorrow huh? Sounds like he is keen.....

Maybe there will be cheesecake at some point... is he taking you out for dessert?

As a matter of fact, yes. And they have this most scrumptious white chocolate raspberry cheesecake ... hmmm ... now he is a redhead with very cream skin ...

Yanti...you're SO predictable...

I'm really quite ready to leave my agency. I just realized today that the office that I'm in is WAY too full of West Coast Californian correctness . I probably should be out in the NE where "f*ck you" is both a term of endearment as well as denigration. Often in the same sentence.

I got informed that being on the Activities Committtee - TOTALLY INVOLUNTARY - is a Division "duty" even though I don't - and won't go to any parties, functions, etc. Its all this team building crap. I hate it. I absolutely hate it. It doesn't make me like the agency any better, NOR does it make me a better worker. They just don't get it. You can't FORCE people to be happier.

I had a bad day at work... I made my displeasure known at being stuck in this stupid activities committee, and the woman that's in charge of another section, who has NO sense of humour - she's one of those 'true believers' - b!tched to my boss and I got the 'closed door lecture about your poor attitude'. I told her "Look, I *hate* being involved with this kind of stuff. I have enough issues with my own life without being forced to be a part of something where I'm supposed to be happy... when I'm NOT happy."

I should listen to my Dad. He thinks I should be writing for a living rather than wasting time working in gov't. He thinks my blog is a hoot.

As do we...

Hey...can you forward your avatar to Kendra?

Ha, ha, ha ... I saw the pink ... you know I have an eye for pink, too!

I think ribbons would be a bit much--that shirt shows some boobage. Oh, and it's really nipply around here right now, so perhaps something warmer (until the real heat starts ).

but of course I know you have an eye for pink - speaking of which, I have no pink stars right now

so, what are you going to wear?  do tell, or better yet, post pics

You know, even my spider is pink--she has gorgeous iridescent pink fur (that's why she is called a Rose Hair Tarantula and her name is Rosie!)

It's like the dog test. Married cake boy--shuddered at Rosie. Redhead--LOVES her and likes to cuddle her. And I must remember that redhead schlepped my stuff and lent the truck not once, but TWICE to help me move. It may not be fireworks and a heart cake, but THAT's a keeper.

Ding ding ding!  Life isn't always about fireworks and cheesecake heart cake...

I look at couples that make it work and have been together for 50 years, and their lives aren't always an adventure with fireworks and such, but they get through the tough times and would do ANYTHING for each other...
