Does anyone have an idea when they will post the race info packet?  Thanks.

I would suspect like about 2 weeks out if my memory serves correct.

Hard to believe we are here, facing the last big training weekend.  In a way I am excited to be backing off after this weekend, and in a way I feel like I let time slip by when I could've hammered more hills.  Well I have one more shot at it this weekend!  Big smash myself weekend.

My taper is now going to be only 1 week. I plan on my biggest ride on Saturday though, should be fun as I'm riding with a professional triathlete...

I think I am with you on this one.  I did a 2 week tape for the JerseyMan HIM and I felt a little flat for the race.

A group of 20-25 of us from Michigan are doing Wisconsin next year.  A total of 15 of us doing Placid this year.

PennState - 2009-07-03 4:09 PM Hey another question... anybody considering doing LP in 2010?

I am thinking about it but pretty undecided.

Anyone else?

I am signing up for 2010 the day before.  Give me a chance to do better next year.\

Hi everyone,

Thought I'd chime in real quick. This is my second time at LP (I survived the monsoon of '08), and I'm also still undecided about next year. At first, I was thinking no way, but now...I really do love IM training and I love Lake Placid. I have a feeling much of the next three weeks will be taken up by going back and forth with what to do next year.

Training has been going ok, although April was a bit disappointing. The last couple of weeks have been great, and I'm feeling good about going into race day. I've been able to insert some intensity into my long stuff this year, which I didn't last year. I'm hoping the work will pay off with a great run on 7/26. This weekend is my last really big block, then about a two week taper. Last year I did three, and I think it was too much.

I'm staying on Mirror Lake Drive, right past transition (almost across from the boathouse). I just checked the list of pros and it looks like Sam McClone is doing LP. That's cool stuff.

Hope everyone's holiday weekend goes well!

I am 100% in on LP 2010.  In fact, I'm already registered, since my entry to this year was deferred until 2010 due to the crash.

got the final big weekend in this past weekend. 6 hr ride / 1 hr brick run on Friday. 3 hr run on Saturday. Have to say I'm pretty happy with it all.

Funny how a 4 hr bike ride this coming weekend is not considered "long" anymore, but just part of my taper.

2010? Hmmmm...this training has been relentless. Especially the swimming. I'm so done with swimming. I'll have time over the next 3 weeks to waffle back and forth on whether I'd want to go through it all again so soon.

I have 3 more serious bike rides left, including one looooooong go-all-day ride on Saturday, but then I have to take my bike to TriBikeTransport one week from today (!).  Most of my rides lately have been shorter but "crazy hilly" -- according to mapmyrun, more elevation in 50-60 miles than all 112 at LP. We've been doing 2-mile ocean swims and runs mostly in the 8-10 range.  I am not very fast, but I am persistent, and I hope some of you super-fast BTers will be waiting at the finish for us slower guys and gals!

Hello everyone,

I just finished my last tune up race yesterday, a very hilly 1/2 Ironman 5:13.

Last longish ride this Saturday, 150km, and then Longish run Sunday 2- 2.5hrs.

Lots of 4km swims, probably 5-6 before LP.

Anyways, I hope everyone stays healthy and strong, looking forward to meeting you all.

We have a couple of houses right down the big hill from transition (believe the bike goes down that steep hill out of transition?).  We're going to have everyone over to one of those houses to celebrate.  I'll let anyone know that's interested where we are when we meet up to swim.

Care to post a time prediction?

Time predictions ......... the ultimate jinx! I'll bite!

Swim - 53:30
T1 - 5:30
Bike - 5:45:00
T2 - 3:30
Run - 3:55:00

Total - 10:42:30

I think I might be dreaming about that bike split with where my biking has been but sub 11:00 should be realistic.

Well I am not superstitious so I think I am sticking to the time I posted on page 10.

Swim 1:05
T1 :05
Bike 5:45
T2 :05
Run 3:55

Time: 10:55

Looks like Bob is going to kick my butt.

My T1 and T2 are really unknowns b/c I’ve never done an official IM.  So you have to get your bike?  Do they (volunteers) bring you your running stuff?
