Master 1671 West Bend, WI | Subject: RE: tripletmom01 mentor group - FULL!!!!! jireland5666 - 2009-01-02 6:44 AM Good morning group! Tammy - My tri is on June 5th. Have you heard of My First Tri? And My Next Tri? My First Tri is open only to those athletes that have never competed in a tri before. My Next Tri is only open to those that have competed in My First Tri and want to do it again, and they rank you based on your improvement over My First Tri from last year. Like I said before, I'll be lucky to drag my sorry @$$ over the finish line. My husband told me he'd be there at the finish line with a bucket of KFC cheering me on. He's not exactly the athletic type, but I'm going to try to change that this year. Off to the gym today to work out with my trainer, then take a class - I think it's a dance class today... oooo, my favorite! 50 minutes of thumping, dancing, sweating and laughing because I CAN'T dance! ~Jennifer Where are you from? |

New user 39 | Subject: RE: tripletmom01 mentor group - FULL!!!!! I live just north of Atlanta. I'm originally from Boston, and we've lived all over - Virginia, Maryland, Ohio now here. The tri is being held at Lake Lanier - here is the link: http://www.triathlons.net/Atlanta/ This is my favorite excerpt from the site: "Training for My First Triathlon is simple, it just takes a little time commitment. Jump in the pool, swim a few laps, then jump on your bike, ride a couple of miles and then go for a short run afterwards. If you feel tired, Stop. Go have a beer, go to work, watch TV, or phone a friend. If you feel good, keep going and keep increasing the distances week by week. If you get too busy with work, and take a few days or a week off training, so what. The key is to slowly incorporate training into your lifestyle. Remember Triathlons are fun!"

Expert 626 | Subject: RE: tripletmom01 mentor group - FULL!!!!! My January goals include maintaining strength training, and continuing focus on the swim. I plan to make 30K meters in the pool for the month. I need to re-jigger my schedule for long run during the week, because on Sundays I'll be riding long and fast (18 mph on these hills will be tough) so Saturdays better be easy. *If* the weather cooperates - this is January after all. And after all this holiday eating, I need to get back to a better diet, ie one without so much CHOCOLATE in it. We are off the Washington DC for a few days for some museum going and general big city fun. Will be in touch when we're back. Happy training everyone. |

Veteran 263 New Lenox, IL | Subject: RE: tripletmom01 mentor group - FULL!!!!! Woooo Hoooo just got back from my first outside ride since July 2007. Boy did that feel good. Had a few icy patches where I had to get off and walk the bike around but that's what I get for going on the trail instead of the roads. Temp. was 29*F out, my fingers were just starting to get cold when I got back. I'll have to try that again after the roads are cleared from the ice storm we have coming in. Sure beats the day lights out of the trainer. George. |

Veteran 126 | Subject: RE: tripletmom01 mentor group - FULL!!!!! January Goals Swim - 7500 yards Bike - 6 hours Run - 30 miles Yoga - 7.5 miles I need to determine my heart rate zones and start using them to train. I need to get used to exercising on a regular basis again. I'm basing these goals on each discipline 2x a week. I don't want to be overwhelmed and freak out that I can't fit everything in. I really need to work on getting organized - it will help me in all areas. |

Master 1671 West Bend, WI | Subject: RE: tripletmom01 mentor group - FULL!!!!! Polly- Its really pretty simple For your next run....do a real easy warm up run for ten minutes. ( I am assuming you have a HR monitor?) hit the lap button or resart your watch ( you dont want the WU to be included in the test results) Run a hard pace...something you can hold but couldnt go much harder for 20-30 minutes. Your ave HR is your LT. Get me your LT and I will determine your zones for you walk in the park right? These are are your run zones..probaly the most important. We can get bike zones too if you want ( they will likely be different inside and out though) |
