Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Welcome Diane! Jump right in. I'm down 1 this week to 228. Just chugging along. I'm on day three of my half & half of a half plan and so far so good about sticking to it, although i've had to move some swims to later in the week due to that "special time". The weather has turned super chilly and rainy. I was hoping it would hold off a little bit longer. ![]() have fun out there! |

Member![]() ![]() | ![]() Hey guys, Thanks for the welcome. Leah, that sounds like a great session with your coach. I'd love to find someone to give me bike tips- I'm not very good at getting water bottles out of cages while biking- the aerobottle up front is a life saver for me. I did IM Coeur d'Alene in 2005. It was a fantastic experience, and I jumped into it after doing my first sprint triathlon the year before. Since then I've been fighting injuries off and on, but I'm now recommitted, and I really want to lose weight and train smart. I'm 162 lbs right now, but I'd like to lose at least 25 lbs. I'm llke the rest of you- I want to keep training while I do it!! I'm a mid to back of the pack-er, and proud of it. I'm an OK biker, struggle with the run, and I'm an OK swimmer, but I do tend to freak out in open water swims when there are lots of people surrounding me (like the start of an IM or HIM). I'm from Edmonton Alberta, and I'm really looking forward to getting to know the rest of you, and sharing in your experiences. Diane |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() D - IMCDA sounds like a really nice course. Did you like it? I'm doing IMOO next September... ready or not here I come! But I'll be doing a half before that just haven't worked out which. Just came back from a 43 mile bike ride. Took me 3 hours but not too bad considering I spent 2.5 hours on the treadmill very late last night on inclines 8/6/4 so my legs weren't really fresh. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Leah - The coach night sounded great! Sounds like he is going to critique everything you do on the bike. I didn't realize you need to think about how to get your drink out, but now that I think about it I almost fall over each time I do it too. That is probably why I don't drink a lot while riding. Interesting. I bet you are going to learn a ton. I do not have a trainer. In AZ we can ride year round. I should think about it though for the evenings. That might be a great way to get more exercise in. I am getting ready to take my self out of the masters program and go back to swim lessons. I need more confidence in the swim. Master does not help that for me. I only went once and was too intimated to continue. Congrats on all your training. You are such a motivator! I just keep going and going and going! With all of the training you are doing you are going to be SO ready for our race in March. Go Leah!! |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Losta - We did lose the original poster sometime back. She was going to see if she could save up for the Half IM that Leah and I are doing. I'll message her to see if she got in. Congrats again on your weight loss. You are a machine right now. You are so good with all of these challenges and groups. It is clear you found what keeps you moving. Keep up the good work. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Diane - You and Ideal Muse are our brave gals! I can't believe you signed up and completed a full IM after doing sprints. BRAVE! It will be nice to have your insight on our race training. We need all we can get. What we try to do is just chime in and let folks know what we are doing to train. Most of us keep our logs on BT so we can check up with eachother. Glad to have you in the thread. Edited by ~ AZ Sunshine ~ 2009-09-30 7:21 PM |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() IdealMuse - Great ride today. You are doing so well! What time frame are you looking at for you half IM? I know IMOO is in September. Are you thinking June or May? I can't wait to see which one you pick. I'm thinking of doing a couple more in 2010 and MAYBE trying for one in 2011. I obviously need to get my swim under control before I tackle something long. |

Sorry to hear it is getting cold where you are already. It is just getting nice again for us. Have you picked a Half yet? I know you are looking around too. Keep us all posted on your plans. |

I obviously need to get my swim under control before I tackle something long. Well I was reading the blog of a girl who did the same training program I'm looking at and it sounds like they went and did Racine WI Half (non-Idot) as a group. I think that's in July? I won't really know which I'm doing until sometime next year (because I don't want to sign up before I can get input from the coach) Probably best to stay local to keep costs down for now. Getting your swim up to speed is smart. I have a feeling I'm not as worried about the swim as I should be. As it is I'm thinking just under 2/hr range... but I'm hoping some classes I'll take this fall will help cut that down and fix my form a bit. Maybe even a few private lessons. It would suck to go though all this and not get past the swim. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Thanks, i've been trying to be extra good with the eating habits lately... ![]() I have been shopping around the HIMs but haven't picked one yet. I'm going to wait til Jan 1 to assess my running progress and then make a decision - i.e. do I want to do one in Aug, Sep, Oct, Nov...? I have a couple other non-tri trips happening over next summer that I also have to plan around so later right now is looking more feasible. Some up for consideration include Grand Columbian (Sept) & Silverman (Nov)... I will keep y'all posted for sure. ~ AZ Sunshine ~ - 2009-09-30 5:27 PM KiriH - Great job on the weight loss. Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() "When's that running melty magic gonna come into play?" I know tell me about it. I lost less last month when I had been losing like 10/month and I ran much more then prior months. Although I noticed today that I have a LOT more muscle in my legs lately. They are pretty solid under the squish. ![]() Congrats on the great losses last month everyone! Hope Oct is just as good. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Can't believe it is October already. I know what you mean about muscles under the squish. I know I weigh a whole lot less than I used to and I am quite happy about that. But I can still pinch a whole lot of flab around my midsection and (of all things) the sides of my torso, like above the bra. But, and it is a big but, I have tons more muscle under all that flab. In clothes you can't see the jiggle and no one understands when I say I want to lose ten more pounds, but in a bathing suit or (god forbid) naked, it all too obvious. I may weigh only 140, but I am still about 33% body fat. Not good. Oh well. New month. New goals. I got in my swim this morning and a short bicycle ride, just to spin my legs one last time before my race on Sunday. My legs were a little fatigued so my 50 minute run tonight is going to be a 50 minute walk. Tomorrow is a running rest day and I will go to Crossfit and have as easy a session as possible. Short thirty minute run only on Saturday and then my race on Sunday. Happy training. Here's to melty pounds and melty body fat! |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() WTC keeps adding new 70.3's in the past 2 days they added Boulder, Miami, and Lonestar (Galveston). I have much to choose from. But what else are they going to add? |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hey ladies - I'm still sicker then a dog. I slept until noon today, up for an hour and then asleep again until 6:00. Crazy. I ended up cancelling out on my trip to San Diego this weekend. I didn't think the 6 hour drive with the kids would have done anyone any good. I'm disappointed. I really wanted to try out my wetsuit and tackle another ows. As for the weightloss, I actually notice my fat more now that I've lost weight. I think b/c parts of me are shrinking the fat stands out more. My legs feel very strong though. I love seeing the muscles! Good luck on your races Leah! We will be rooting for you. Losta, I need to look up the website you are looking at. I'm going to be looking for one or two in 2010 to tackle after our California race. I'm thinking about the one in Austin in October or the Vineman in July. We'll see. Keep up the good work ladies! I can't wait to get back at it! |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Thanks for sharing the link! There are some awesome races on there. Miami in October sounds awesome. There is one here in Tempe in October called SOMA. If I want to save money, I might stick around and do that one. We'll see. It will be fun to see what everyone picks for 2010! I'm still home sick but I think I'm on the up swing. I didn't sleep all day. That is a plus. Hope everyone's training is going well! You should all train a little harder for me since i can't get out there. Everyone go an extra 10 minutes for AZ! |

If I am not able to do Ironman Nice, then I am kinda thinking about the 70.3 in Switzerland. Chuck has a conference in Germany the first week of June. Germany and Switzerland are close to each other. Since he is opposed to me doing an Ironman this year, he told me find a marathon or something either the weekend before or the weekend after his conference. This works - IF, and it is a big IF, I really can't do an IM next year. Kate - I am glad you are on the mend. Sorry about missing your race this weekend, but things happen. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hi Ladies! I have been thinking hard and looking at all the IM 70.3s for 2010. I am leaning towards Timberman in N.H. and may sign up soon. I signed up for an Olympic (Rev 3 Quassy) for early June already. Maybe if I do this in mid-late August I could even get another one in later in the year pending recovery. |
