ebshot - 2009-08-05 6:54 AM I want to take the kids to do something fun today.  They have been spectacular throughout the entire house process and now I want to reward them with some good ole summer fun.  Too bad the weather sucks this morning.  I hope it clears up and we can hit the beach/pool/sprinkler park/lake or something.  If not, the park and ice cream it is!

I have a big pout on my face right now -- can you tell?  We just had a whopper of a storm drive through, with tornado warnings that required us to leave our offices and hide in interior hallways.  An eerie siren was going off through the whole thing.  But the bad news is that this may mess up my biking plans for tonight!

Howdy team.  Just snuck a whopping 12 mile bike ride in to pick dinner up for the son and I.  Also mowed the lawn (took 2 1/2 hours so I could not ride anymore than I already did) after letting it grow too long and not wanting to get in trouble for not mowing it all week while I was off .

Tonight - Football practice again so I get to sneak a 3+ mile run in again.  This is turning into good run training.

Hope everyone had a great day - our weather was beautiful - mid 70's and a nice breeze.  I luv this time of the year but snow is just around the corner

Back at work tomorrow so I will be a little more chatty

nice ride and enjoy your eve run Bill.

AWWWW you just had to rub it in didnt you.

beautiful breezy mid 70s.

blah.  blah.  blah.  plfffft.  :P

ebshot - 2009-08-05 1:51 PM I tried to go to the track to do my speed work but, there is a family event going on.  I am not about to try to dodge people again.  The last time I did that, I ran over a few dudes who were playing a softball game.  They didn't even look before they crossed the track.  Stupid men.  I plowed them over and told them to watch out.  So, I will try to go back this evening after dinner and maybe it will be empty and cooler too!

Men are stupid.

i agree.

Not me.

Oh! Oh! Oh! Me! Me!  This will be my 2nd tri!

The swim will be shorter (1/4 mile vs. 1/2 mile) and I have a different (read: lighter) bike.  But it's supposed to be 96!!  Now for most of you that has been the norm - but as I mentioned Chi-town has been really mild and I'm not used to doing these temps.

I just REALLY hope I won't be starting too late...or else I'll be crossing the finish line closer to noon - - yuck! yuck!  But I will DEFINITELY have to hydrate more than my last tri that was in the 70's!!

LISA.

YOUR GONNA ROCK THAT RACE.

shorter swim.

faster bike.

hydrate.  hydrate.  hydrate.

and swim, bike, run your azz off.  WOOT!

BozNC - 2009-08-05 8:03 AM No race this weekend. Got a 30 mile bike ride in this morning before work. Pace was slow, worked on cadence. Hope everyone is having a great day. -Boz

that is quite the mileage before work....is this normal???

We were riding around lunch time but it's just too hot and humid now. I'm gradually increasing the miles each week to get ready for the Century race on Labor Day. Luckily I have a job where everything revolves around staying in shape and we have very flexible work out schedules.

Happychick - 2009-08-04 2:26 AM It's lonely in here when everyone else is sleeping...

I just got home from the gym where I managed to knock out my first of hopefully many lifting sessions.  I love how weights change my body (for the better) but boy is it the first thing to go when my plate is full!

MICHELLE.  i need to pull a 1/2 of an all nighter and keep you company.

stacieb

We can take turns Stacie...you stay up all night one night with me then i'll get up at the butt crack of dawn and spend it with you!

its a deal, Michelle.

spitshake.

stacieb

Su-weeeeeeeet!

And lookey here...I actually have company this afternoon!

you DO have company.

speaking of cyclocross.  my friend's son races cyclocross.

wicked crazy from the way they described it.

kudos to your husband for considering entering the sport.

those cyclocross bikes are BUCK.

nice that you and dh support each other the way you do.  i talk about Tris and my husbands eyes glaze over.  he's supportive in other ways (spent the money on my road bike, stays home with the kids) he's GREAT....

but manohman to share a passion like cycling/racing that would be sooo cool.

stacieb

Oh believe me, Stacie....it hasn't always been like this.  He's always supported me the same as your hubby but there were times he got btchy about my training (or who knows what else) so it is such a welcome relief for him to "come around."  It's really cool too 'cuz he has that initial excitement going on where you can't get enough of it and is constantly talking about it, looking stuff up on line, etc!   PLUS, he's now talking about upgrading my bike since I told him he isn't allowed to get a "better" bike than me!

YEA. i see my husband 'coming around' in similiar ways.  He's going on a 60 mile MS ride with me...little by little.  I can see where he'll really dig cycling if he'd ever want to get into it.  He truthfully can swim a lick, and he would run 7 min miles, crow about how he 'beat' me - jokingly of course.   i kept thinking you'll see, it aint as easy as you think, buddy. sure nuff, he 'gave up' running about 4 weeks into it.  LOL.  and he's decided running is 'definately' NOT for him.  too funny.

he's actually quite athletic, but never played organized sports as a kid.  so if he would decide to get involved in some form of multisport, i actually think he'd really do well and enjoy himself.

though admittedly, tris are MY THING, its my time away from him, the house, the kids, the SAHM-thang.  its freedom to me on a lot of levels, so....if we'd ever get into it together, he'd have to have his thing, and i have to have my thing.  ya know....

And you just go on with your supergirl self.  aint no way he's getting a better bike than you.  no way no how.  work it girl!

stacieb.

DITTO!!!!!  It's what keeps me sane (or at least functioning!)

Well today calls for a bike ride and I will get it done but unfortunately it is going to have to be on the spin bike at the gym ~ better than nothing, I guess!  Actually, right now it probably is better than riding MY bike as I seriously need to get a fit done as I am so very uncomfortable riding it anymore!  Hmmmm, maybe I should go make that appt...

Hey Erica (or anyone who has ever visited HI) ever go to Kauai?  We are going there for my birthday (did I mention my birthday is the 21st ) and I'm just now doing my research (I'm actually a really bad procrastinator so this is advance research for me) on where to stay and what to do ~ besides play on the beach!
