triritter - 2010-01-30 6:12 PMyou still need a stronger base for running they say 6 months to a year. I like to get people where they can do an hour pretty easily.
Makes sense to me. Do you think a duathlon (5K/23mi/5K) is too much by March? One 5K would not be a problem right now, as it's basically the distance I'm going in the morning, but it'd be slow. My thinking was that I'll be running them both at whatever pace keeps me in the 'build your base' middle heart rate zone anyway, as I'm not going for time.

antlimon166 - 2010-01-27 6:45 AM so i'm driving home from my run last night and a state trooper pulls behind me at a stop light.  i think to myself, "i sure hope he doesn't run my plates and see that my registration is expired".  the light turns green and we drive for about 2miles.......then.......you guessed it....i got nailed.  he walks up and says asks me why i haven't renewed it.  i told him that i have no excuse and he just laughed.  then he asked for my drivers license and takes a look at it.  then looks back at me, then back at the license, then says, "damn, you lost a bunch of weight recently?".

not sure i've ever pulled away after getting a ticket in a better mood than i was before.

have a good day.

BTW why didn't you email Bobo to get some help?  He was a trooper for 10 years, but recently became a Texas Ranger

Hey i hope your all having a good weekend.

Today me and Lance went to a swim clinic we swam with snorkels and I was literally taking in water hanging on the lane lines. Hopefully I will be able to apply what I learned. My hips sink when I breathe to my left and my hips aren't that high to begin with.

If you want send me and email and I'll send you the video along w/ an Ian Thorpe video to see what you should be like. [email protected]

After the clinic I made the sales guy at Lukes Locker-Dallas really work today I ended up buying training shoes and racing shoes, after trying on MANY and ended up in a shoe I never thought I'd be in. We'll see how it goes. First run in them tomorrow.

I am actually gonna turn it down and stay in Gun Barrel City longer

I did some more research and found out some stuff I didn't like about the company and it was more door to door biz with low variable pay from what I learned from others. If you do know of anything in Fort Worth that is decent I would appreciate that, Dallas would be ok too.

Ritter/Patrick and any other of the texas residents, big news about lonestar 70.3 on the Texas section if you haven't seen it yet...page 12 of the lonestar thread.  http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=188054&start=221

with this race being the pro championships, it's gonna be awesome to be at!  50 spots for clearwater too.

ritter, can't wait to see you smoke by some of the pros!!!!   gotta be a pretty cool feeling to be able to compete against the people you read about in magazines and watch on TV.

now i wish i wouldn't have chicken'd out on the half and only signed up for the olympic.  i would have gladly come in DFL in a race like that!!!

If funds were not an issue I would do it in a heart beat.  It is going to be a great, FAST race.  My wife even wants to go watch just incase Chrissie is back from her injury.  I am thinking of volunteering to get into the action.

today after work:  8mile run
sat: my only goal for saturday is to find a saddle that i can stand to be on for more than an hour.  plus i'll proly do a light run
sun: brick, mile swim and 25m bike (assuming i can find a saddle on sat)

so compared to you ritter, my weekend is the equivilant of taking a nap.

have a good weekend everyone and be safe.

Hey guys! I'm back after another training-less week. My grandfather died this past Sunday, so this week was filled with funeral services- not so fun, but ironically the most relaxing days I've had in a long time. Lots of time with family in the past couple of days, which was nice.

Got back into the pool today for the first time in forever and felt pretty good. Felt GREAT afterwards, actually. It's definitely still a challenge (I feel like I'm doing intervals the entire time because one or two laps winds me!), but I'm slowly getting the hang of it. Bilateral breathing pretty easily, which is a good sign I think.

So here's to a training-packed weekend!

Sorry to hear about your grandfather. I lost my grandma around this time last year. Hopefully you have some good memories of him.

I was gonna be bringing my school work with me to work on between and around sessions but my computer got a bad virus today, so I dunno what I did. Anyways I called my teacher and he was cool about it. Next week will be filled with cramming I am sure as I try to write, so I hope it's a recovery week.

Good luck with your swimming, keep working on the basics!!!

I decided to do the CB&I sprint on May 1st.  Ritter can you throw me a secrete 12 week plan to get ready.  Looking back at results I know I can come close to placing in my AG.  I think I want to race AG rather than clyde this year and maybe get down to 210-215 in the process.

nice job...hard to see from that angle but it looks good. Maybe a little cross over on the left arm. Can't really see what your doing under water, your butt/hips looks really high which is good.
