Morning Bill. Let's hear all about your Boston trip and weekend.

I worked, I saw Fenway Park, I saw REI, I ate a lot at breakfast (for $20.00 I am going to get my money's worth), had lunch at a local deli every day and ate a lot there also, then Friday I strapped my skis onto my new backpack I obtained at REI just for this reason and rode up to West Seneca, NY where they got close to 4' of snow Wed & Thur.  I skied around a park up there and was in all of my glory.

I had to have looked pretty strange riding a bike with skis strapped to my back but I had a blast.

Saturday we had Basketball all day and yesterday I attended church, swam, ran some errands, rode my bike, then hung out with the boy.

All in all pretty typical.  Next weekend is just as busy.

Saturday we have basketball all day again, then I have a daughter blessing ceremony while the wife goes to a wedding solo (she thinks I am picking her up but that is still to be decided).

Next week I get to see Kinston, NC Robin - ever been there?

Sounds like a pretty good time in Bean town, Bill. The weekend sounded good, too.

Yep, I have been to Kinston. I found the town itself extremely UGLY. It is in the wasteland that is flat eastern NC. The last time I was there was to clean up a chemical plant that burned and killed a bunch of people. There is a small state park nearby (Cliffs of the Neuse) that is nice. I have paddled on the Neuse river, too. The river is great, the land around... well... nuff said.

I am not sure there is enough Valium in the world for me to have 7 kids baking in my house. YOUR house, I'd be fine.

My weekend started off as planned but then took an interesting turn.  Saturday afternoon was a Christmas party (morning spent cooking).  I had planned a 9 mile run Sunday afternoon in the absolutely beautiful weather.  But DH had a different outing planned for us.  We went and selected our Christmas present... another puppy to go along with our little one.  But this one will not stay little.... german shepherd.

Spent the afternoon up at the breeders having fun with the pups and the parents... so no run.  Today is pouring buckets and we have to go back up to the breeders after work to finalize papers.  We will get the puppy this weekend.  DH has talked about getting a GSD for a long time, so I guess now is the time!

However, if all goes well, I will get my 9 miles in on Tuesday, rain or no rain!

I have to admit, I am both excited and a little apprehensive.  Mainly because of the size.  It will be in the house with us when we are home, so that means dealing with the hair and the big dog in the small rooms.  However, our labs did okay so I am sure the puppy will eventually learn to be mellow in the house also.  We will just have to be consistent!

We took our little dog with us to the breeders.  After a bit we brought her into the big area where some of the pups were.  It went very well.  Our little dog played well with them.  Of course at this point, they are still about her size, but that won't last!

I will try to get the video posted soon. I will let you all know the date next year so you can come help! We've had as many as 12 kids, so 7 is nothing. I was going to have them make Christmas ornaments, but they kept asking if we could do cookies. A friend of mine was there, who is very good in the kitchen. I asked her what she thought and she told me to go turn on the oven. We took care of everything but the decorating. It would have taken forever, and been a bigger mess to have the kids doing the cookie cutting. They had fun. We had fun. It's all good.

I'll do some baking with my kids soon and let them help more.

Is it a German German Shepherd, or an American German Shepherd. The American ones are smaller, though still large. They love to run, so when old enough you can take it with you if you'd like. The needs lots of exercise. They want to learn and work, too. Take it to training classes! All of the ones I have dealt with are eager to please.

Story time

When I was a kid my grandparents lived on a farm. They had acres and acres and acres of apple orchards. There were also 2 ponds on the farm, one of them rather large. We spent a lot of time on my grandparents farm as kids. We would go fishing for blue gills with nothing more than a stick from an apple tree, a piece of kite string, and a hook. Blue gills are dumb enough to bite without bait.

Being kids, in order to go down to the pond we either had to take an adult, or Bing, the GSD. What kid wants to take an adult to go play? Bing would go out in the water and pace back and forth a few feet before the water dropped off deep. If we got out too far he'd growl us back into shallow water. I loved that dog.
