Just 10 more short minutes 'til I can order my McDonald's pancakes. Then an hour and a half for them to settle, then hit the pool. Then a nap zzzzzzz. Long nap. Then a cycle. Another nap. Then dinner. Then a run. Or maybe a run, then dinner. Today looks to be so exciting!

So, I am really on the fence about doing a Halloween 5K this weekend. I'm feeling a little raced out and just want some time at home with no agenda. BUT I have a very strong desire to race in costume. For another party J and I have Batman and Robin costume (Yup, I'm Robin. So badazz) So, I at least have the costume part.

The other cons on the list are that it might rain pour and my costume is a youth size and umm very snug.

Why is that a con?

It's uncomfortable and I have camel toe while dry, I can't imagine ... Oh jesus don't make me say it.

I had these AWESOME neon-orange tri shorts, Ironman brand, that not only showed EVERYTHING when dry, but had these cool flower patterns that would show up when wet.

Had, HAD? Why the past tense????????

I think they should introduce a hypercolor line of athletic apparel.

HYPERCOLOR! Are those things still around? I had a HC t-shirt that I worshipped in high school because my beloved friend Jonathan gave it to me after a really rough time in his life that I helped him through and somehow Hypercolor shirts became our mascot.

I wore that shirt to death. Mostly at amusement parks--lots of sweat and water = cool!

I had SO MUCH tri-crap when I left the States, I just couldn't take it all. I distributed all the stuff amongst the then-Manatees, Pay it Forward, and Cheryl Gruenfeld's charity, forgot its name.

Also, those tri shorts were $10. TEN DOLLARS.

I can confirm the above statement. But, I don't see any flowers ...

They weren't wet.

Well, not wholly.

So I guess this means my Robin costume is a-okay.

This was ever in doubt?

Actually, the tri shorts were completely dry at the time. Anything that looks like a wet spot (like a certain circular thing in a certain place) is actually the front of the tri-pad.

Man, I miss those shorts. They were sure some attention-getters. They really made a statement.

Whelp, that clears that up!

How's the McDonalds?

Aw, Jo! Poor you and poor Fotis. You know how fond I am of the both of you!

You do have a trainer, though, right? And you can always run in place. And your swim won't suffer a bit from a day or two off.

You're right - ran at lunchtime, will ride in the morning and run again lunchtime.  He should be home tomorrow so I'll get the swim in...it's all good.  Just not cut out for being the one who stays home doing stuff!  I'll tell him you said Hi!

Asalzwed - 2012-10-23 8:01 PM Speaking of serious. My bike shoes smell so unbearably bad. I don't know what happened between yesterday and today but holy crap. They are under my desk and I can hardly stand it.

Sure it's the shoes?

Yeah, I start marathon training in Dec. and plan on slowly ramping up mileage after this recovery week.

I am trying to figure out a few other secondary goals that will help set me up for success. Like maybe working on my diet. I'm pretty good but I think there is always room for improvement. Not sure what else ...

Diet is one I think about too. I need to incorporate more fruits n veggies. Just don't eat enough. Usually an apple at work and whatever veggies are in dinner.

Yeah, and the great thing about veggies is you can eat a ton of them and they generally aren't all that calorie dense. I love vegetables, too so it's not a difficult thing to do.

I want to improve on cooking a little more bulk on the weekend so that when I am in a pinch I have healthy options rather than easy options (because those are almost always processed foods)

I eat a ton of food these days.

Time to cook will be an interesting factor once my HIM ramps up. Right now I'm ok for dinners and usually do leftovers for lunch. It's the snacks I need to watch. I usually grab a packaged fruit/nut mix or yogurt, but sometimes it's snyders honey mustard pretzels (yum)

Bringing my lunch to work was probably one of the single best changes I made that helped me to lose weight in the beginning.

Bulk cooking has helped. A LOT. Since I love leftovers, we cook one day and eat for 3 or 4.

Unfortunately, it usually isn't healthy. But that is our choice.

But I'd venture to say your version of "unhealthy" is probably still healthier than going out.

I use the crock a lot too! As a matter of fact it's going today. Have a chico stew waiting for us when we get home. Then I'll probably just throw some cornbread or something together To go with it. Plenty of veggies in that one.

Oh and in other training news, I broke down and bought some wireless earbuds. I tried them out last night. I'm pretty excited about them, especially for the drainer.

Stuffed peppers.

I start with a not-fatty, high-quality ground beef (sirloin, etc.), stir-fry with fresh-chopped onions, garlic, tomatoes. You can add pre-made taco or chili seasoning; I just toss in salt, pepper, paprika, chili powder, and soy sauce to taste. Then I add a scoop of brown rice. (Quinoa would work great with this, too).

Cut the tops off peppers, cut insides out, stuff with stir-fry mix, pop in the toaster oven for 20min or so.

YUM.

I've decided to keep being a slacker tri-training-wise for the remainder of Oct and try to get back into a more regular routine in order to keep myself in line over the winter beginning in Nov.  Will need to work out a balance with hockey (not too much of an intrusion into the schedule) and Tae Kwon Do if we are able to get class rolling again.  TKD is more challenging to balance training around since that is 3x/week.

Food focus has begun.  I really am tired of seeing my 'sturdy' self in race pics and feeling like a real manatee around other skinny tri friends.  Plus I know it will be better for my joints and overall health to dump some plump.  And surely I will be faster with less weight to lug around, no?  Really hoping to drop at least 20 lbs.
