I read the CoJ thread about Hamilton. I find it incomprehensible that a woman could bring such a destructive threat into her family. I don't know that my husband would be as tolerant as hers, and I appreciate that.

I just know that life is a highly convoluted challenge for some people. Evidently she was/is one of them. I hope she can get her head in the right place, work with her husband and family, and get her life moving in the right direction. There is a 7 year old girl counting on that. That is what makes me the saddest.

TriAya - 2012-12-22 12:39 PM Some idiot posted a recipe for Japanese sweet-potato doughnuts in the kitchen. And for once, it wasn't even me. But now I can't rest until I make, and especially eat, them.

In the words of Homer Simpson, "MMMMMM, Doughnuts"

Odd, he said the same thing about beer...

I know she was cited as saying it was a HUGE mistake ... but it didn't seem like she was going to stop until she was outed. I think it probably runs in the vein of genuine addictive behavior.

It makes me admire all the more the folks who have been at the top of the world, and then continue on to live well, and live balanced lives. It just can't be easy.

Most importantly.

The fact that her spouse knew about it but didn't draw any boundaries, to me, is a real hallmark of such behaviors having the power to make those around us sick, too.

Just to continue making grand sweeping judgments, analyses and prognoses ... it seems like a good thing she got outed, since clearly the entire family needs help. And like many people with painful difficult issues--you don't get help until you're forced to, one way or another.

There is a lot of tough stuff in the world, some days just getting through it is incredibly tough. And it has GOT to be tough doing it in the public eye. But, like I said, hopefully this is the impetus she needs to get things moving in the right direction. It would be nice if we could all just leave her alone to work through it, but we know that ain't happening.

Too true. My sister has been living with an alcoholic husband for about 25 years. She finally separated and told him to get help. She saw what her enabling was doing to their children, and now, grandchildren.

My pastor and his wife are in adoption proceedings for their two foster daughters because birth mom can't give up meth.

I hope they get help when young lives are at stake.

Hey, I gotta do some prep for a Christmas party we are going to tonight, so I'm going to head out. If I don't see you all in the next few days, enjoy whatever holidays you are celebrating.

TJ - Enjoy the fam.

Yanti - It looks like your Christmas wishes have been filled. Piglets in the Manatees in the upcoming year. I hope we don't scare them.

After the year that I have had with my daughter being diagnosed with mental illness and addiction, that whole Favor-Hamilton story hits way too close to home.     I am in no place to comment or judge.  All I can say is, there by the grace of God go I.  Her family is in my prayers.

I ventured out to Costco on the Saturday before Christmas.  Counting that as my jogo today.  It was definitely mental training, agility, and strength, maybe some wrestling and boxing too (especially down the aisles that had samples).  I'm spent for the day.  Nap time.

I was thinking the same thing.

Congrats on conquering Costco. I hit Kohl's today. I actually wanted to buy more than I did, but couldn't find an available cart Yell. So I got what I went for and left.

Sounds like so much fun!  Enjoy them and love them, they will only be little for so long!

I'm trying to get myself built-up to go out and run in the cold - it's only 27 F here and not sunny.   What will get me out the door is wanting to double my run mileage from last year for this year.  7.75 miles to go yet over the next 7 days.  (I only, well 'only' have 63 more miles to do the same on the bike...we'll see if that happens or not).  Yes, I know that what I ran in a year is what many of you run in a week or a month, but for me to have added so much is an accomplishment.  Hoping to double the new number for next year...hmmm...ya never know, it could happen!

All manatees: please have a safe, enjoyable holiday.  Enjoy your loved ones, cherish time spent together with friends and family.  Sending out some pre-Christmas {{{{{HUGS}}}}}!!!!

Well I feel pretty good about my 3.5 hour ride yesterday. I felt like I could have strapped on my running shoes when I was done, but I opted for a hot bath instead :-) today the legs were feeling the effects of the ride, and I think I need to take a look at my nutrition. Feeling weak and light headed today. But overall the ride gave me a confidence boost for Oceanside. Oh, and my aero bottle fell off and cracked within the first half hour. I lost about 1/4 of my water supply but I wasn't gonna let that hinder my ride. For most of the 3rd hour I was riding in to the wind. Practice for the ocean "breezes" I'll face. Here's my ride:
