And I need to learn right quick like as my beds had some JUST under leagal limit last season. I'm going raking just as soon as I can stand the water temps with a wetsuit underneath waders.
You have your own oyster beds? How cool is that... and how do you manage that?? Search YouTube for videos on how to do it. It's not difficult at all, it just takes a some practice. Get them right side up, then push the knife in at the hinge and give a little twist & pop. Then scrape it loose from the shell and you're good to go! I learned to do it while working as a cook at Hooters, so perhaps get some nice young woman to stand near you showing off her bewbs/cleavage while you practice?

The beds are public. I just need to either buy a season license for $25 a year or a $5 day license for shellfish and I can take a 1/2 peck (4 quarts) per day. Just that when I was taking quahogs last year, I pulled up TONS of triad clusters of oysters just under the 2 inch limit and I'm sure they've matured for this season. I could try a bed of seedlings in the neighbor's cove front property and see how I do. We're water view, not water front (that's across the street). Noank oysters are popular all over the country. I know they'll grow as the damn seagulls smash them on the road to open them and it's a mess with all the shells. |

Took 2012 off to work on losing weight through a trainer and concentrate on my business a little. Business seems good, lost 45# and 20% BF so ready to get back after triathlons. Nice to see familiar faces still on here (esp. Cheri but certainly not you Tony) Wade |

The liquor store gig sounds pretty sweet! I would demand bars on the windows though. Safety first. Joking aside, I'm looking for a job in corporate communications/PR - in a non-consumer goods industry. 80% of my experience is in aviation/aerospace manufacturing, but any manufacturing company I'd likely fit in quickly. |
