Jot- I'd look out for you at the pre-ride but I don't know what you look like I look just like my avatar.

Sally

I'm the caucasian guy that is of average height and average build with brown hair and blue eyes.

I'm riding a Kuota, will be wearing longsleeve white riding jersey so that should help.

If Justin (the skinny guy with the long hair) is doing the Red Rock setup, ask him and he can point me out.

Here is my CFC race report with some pictures of me.

(edit: to add race report that has pictures)

With T-Dog out I would prefer to move the ride to Sunday. I am looking into a route near fountain hills - will post details after work for input.

Sally -

Didn't see you at the pre-ride, but maybe it's because I couldn't find anyone with a head the size of a postage stamp.

I'll try to post a route up later tonight.

Yeah, I'm a bit bigger in real life  I was running late for the ride, so I didnt have a chance to look around for you. Did you run also?

I did do a run afterwards, but only 5. Problem running from Red Rock is it's just shy of a mile from the course. Turns 6.1 into 8.1, which is no big deal if I've training for the half, but since I haven't, I chose not too.

Also, had to avoid the Frank Kush Run crowd.

The SOMA course is crazy

Jot - YEAH that was crazy having the SOMA people running against the Kush run! I wonder if I saw you!

OK everyone here is what I am doing tomorrow, anyone and everyone (as always) is welcome!!!
Sunday Oct 21

1 - 15 mile Mtn Bike ride at McDowell Mtn Park. Due to our decision to race Dawn to Dusk on Dec. 1 we need to train some out here. Its a nice easy flat ride - course is marked PB
http://www.maricopa.gov/parks/mcdowell/pdf/2006%20maps/mcdowell-11x...

Followed by:

2 - 30+ mile road ride (few options for looping) from McDowell Park.
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Good thing about this is LOW to no traffic while in the park (almost 14+ miles inside the park) and if I remember correctly McDowell Mountain Road is relatively low traffic too, its been a long time since I have been out there though so I cannot make promises as to road quality, bike lanes, traffic, etc. However, you would have to pay 5 to ride in the park, so if you want to meet outside of the park that can be arranged too. I think its obvious on the ride map where the park entrance is.

The course I have mapped rides in the park and then out to the road, first north, then down south stopping right before town (Fountain Hills). I also mapped a nearly 40 mile ride uing the rest of the park loops, just depending on what you are looking for. May be able to go up intot he country club as well to ride (similar to Las Sendas).

Time This depends on if anyone else wants to go, please let us know what you are thinking. We are free all day!

Meeting If we meet inside the park it will be where the course branches off to the right (the short little off shoot).

I understand if people are not interested, I agree its a bit complicated!

I almost got run over at the start of the Kush event. I was right at where they exit when the started. Had to hustle to avoid being road kill.

Here is the SOMA route on Motionbase. I'd recommend that you install Google Earth (free) and export it to that and then you can view all sorts of crazy stuff.

We ran the course, except for the switchback loop. It came to almost 7 miles. We ran head on into the 5k on the bridge- it was crazy! I love how they always have so much going on down in Tempe though

Thanks for the route map. I'm going to print out a map for my family, so they know where to watch for me

That's a beautiful course, Jen! I did the Park MTB ride this spring and loved it. It's not technical and even I could stay on the bike the whole time. The road to the park was pretty busy with weekend traffic though. I came from the north and then went into Phx on the way home (via TJs as usual). But I don't remember either if there's a shoulder or bike lane.

Maybe later this winter when work is less busy I can join you on one of these. Have fun!

Here too! It just blew Jake's dishes off the porch... Now there's kibble all over the back yard. And it's freezing cold compared to last week. You must be very comfortable now

Yes! Took the dogs for a walk this morning and it actually felt nice.  Don't know if a ride would be very good, but I need to do SOMETHING.

I went out with the AZTriguys this morning, and it was really windy. We called it short since we got an hour and a half's workout in an hour

HOLY WOW was it windy today!!!

OK so I scoped out a new ride in Fountain Hills that will be AWESOME!!! Once they complete the new bike lanes, really wide, low traffic, BEAUTIFUL scenery!!!

Chris, I am so glad you did not make it I would have felt so bad had you driven out and all the bike lanes were ripped out! OOPS! :p

So with el tour coming up I was trying to think of a long ride for this weekend. I believe it would need to be about 4 hours. If anybody has any ideas post in here. For example one option I was thinking of was parking at Signal Butte and Baseline, ride up Signal Butte to McKellips, around Usery, across McDowell to Val Vista, Val Vista to Pecos then back. Any other ideas are welcome.

I think the SOMA HIM turned Robot's voice activator back on.  Very good.
