16.55 miles in 49:59 on the bike. Today I did fall in my driveway. I didn't realize my shoe clipped in when I stepped on the pedal, and I just kept going. I did protect the bike with my body. Fortunately, my wife was at work, kids were at school and none of my neighbors were home, so nobody was there to laugh.

For the record- when I first started with the pedals, I also fell in the driveway.  I unclipped one and spaced...Over I went!

Thank you all for your support.  Before Scott and I married I was a supervisor in a multi million dollar company and oversaw 4 locations.....You would think this would be easy!  Found out it's not and finding it taking longer than I thought to adjust.  Scott and I did some talking and I will start a masters swim class 3 times a week.  It starts at 5:30am so even though I won't see Justin before school, he is old enough to handle it.  I'll be home in time to see Rheona off.

I think I'm overly stressed about going home on Sat.  It's been a year...  My house there sold as well and timing has it that the closing will take place while we are there.  It is a very bitter sweet moment in selling that home and emotions have the better of me.  Going to try and set up my own daily time line to get more out of my day.  I'll see how that works!  Don't really wanna leave ya'll!!!  I need you guys!  Justin has an appointment April 20 with a Neurologist in Denver...  Going to just leave it in God's hands till then.

Today was a 43mile bike ride with one of the guys from the tri club.  Beautiful views and the hills nearly killed me...  Short recovery run this evening with Kevin and Dez.  We also took the dog, which always makes for an interesting run.

Tomorrow is going to be my rest day.  My legs are incredibly tired after the last 4 days, but I'm really pleased how my training is going.

1st brick session (bike and run) yesterday - Felt very good. Has made me think may be I can do this. I know it was only a 1/3 of the HIM but the way I felt when I finish was good. Beginning of the week I was battling and tired and felt I could not do this. Things can turn around quick.

Easy run for me today.  4.31 miles in 33:30.  The big race is a week from Saturday so I'm basically tapering at this point.

8 mile easy run. 1:11:16, or 8:53 pace. Very happy with heart rate. 125 bpm average.

BUT, my left achilles is killing me. Took yesterday off because of it. Not unusual for this to happen to me after races, but this feels bad. Supposed to do 12 mile progression run tomorrow. I don't want to skip it, but probably will. I will see how I feel tomorrow.

I was looking at a Fuji Roubaix 1.0 from Performance Bikes - anybody have comments good or bad?

I have heard a lot about them and they are good bikes. I have not been on one so can't comment for the rest.

5 mile runch 39:27. I had a pre-run panic. I am running a 10 k with my two youngest on Sunday and I realized that I have not attempted to run hard or above my MAF in a couple of months. I was happy that my average bpm were MAF +3 and I kept my average below 8 min miles. Typically I would rabbit and then blow up. I was pleased to see consistancy throughout my run.

Its official. Signed up for the Spring Training Sprint Tri for April 21. Small, short (400/10/3) race, perfect for my second race. Could not pass the opportunity to do a race 30 min. from my house. Its a B or C race, my objective is to have a good run after a strong bike, and not repeat that slow run from my first race.

Congratulations, what a great way for you to celebrate my birthday.

After only 110+ miles on my Asics Kayano, the  heel liner (on the inside of the shoe) is coming apart on both shoes. Significantly worse on my right shoe, in which I have the beginning of a possible blister. I have read that this might be a problem of newer Asics shoes, but the point of this post is to understand the cause. Have you ever had this? What do you think causes this? Bad fit (wrong size or wrong show for my feet)? bad stride? or just bad shoes?

Probably will visit a running store sooner rather than later and get new shoes.

That is a product problem not a problem caused by the way you run. If the issue were gait, footstrike, pronation etc. the problem would show on the outside of the shoe not in the liner. If it were you, you would probably see some type of mirrored wear on the treads or a collapsing of the cushion on one side or the other. So, it is either poor quality of the materials used, poor workmanship or you just bought a lemon. I would go with either material or workmanship since it is the liner on both shoes.

I'm out for a bit due to my achilles problem. We'll see how serious it is. Right now just icing and doing stretching exercises. Biking tends to strain achilles as well, so I won't do that. Will try to swim this weekend.

Good luck to Scott and Jen in their races this weekend!

All the best with the races this week Scott and Jen.

Another lesson learned today about nutrition. I have never focused much on it but have found with the longer ride and runs its so much more important. Had a BBQ for lunch at work today and then 3hrs later tried to run. No good with the fatty food. I guess I need to be more conscience if what I eat along with the workouts. So no points for me today .

wish everyone a good weekend and enjoy the workouts.
