LOL. So looking forward to that . . . I have 4:15 tomorrow. I think I'm going to do the first 2 on the trainer and then go outside when it warms up. Shaun doesn't like me doing super long rides outside by myself as I may have a tendancy to actively engage motorists who fail to comply with Connecticut's driving laws.
See you don't do that in Texas or you might get shot. IJS. |

Oh and does that mean Shaun is going with you? |

Oh and does that mean Shaun is going with you? No, Shaun's not riding with me tomorrow. It jsut means if I'm only doing 2 hours I'll stay relatively close to home and not cause problems. |

If I ask a question I get fewer than 10 hits. Lol Because she wants (and asks for) people to tell her she's pretty. There's no real answer to her questions without deeply diving into her training but she asks them in a way that lets lots of people give generic advice (a few people give good specific advice but that's the exception). |

Because she's a troll (in the internet sense), and people fall for it. I want to bang my head against a wall every time I go into TT. |

Extreme Veteran 3020 | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2013 (Year 3!) - CLOSED I don't check TT very often because I don't find that many of the threads interesting anymore. I am shocked by the number of pages/responses her posts generate. Vents or rants really shouldn't be in there. |

Extreme Veteran 3020 | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2013 (Year 3!) - CLOSED I'm jealous that some of you get to head outside this weekend. I'll be on the trainer for 3 hours. I don't mind the trainer because it's a quality workout, but it would be nice to get some fresh air. Sunday is rain, rain, and more rain. I just need to take this bike out before my June olympic to see where I'm at right now. I'm sure it will be different from riding my road bike, and I want some time to adjust. |

Regular 211 | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2013 (Year 3!) - CLOSED Jen - Here's the workout we did this morning. Sucks that it's raining there, but maybe that'll give you a chance to get in some time in the pool...? Just for giggles, I'm going to include all the editorial comments our coach gave us: 1. EZ Warmup - 600m [2 sets X 300]; 10 second rest between sets; you choose stroke for warmup. 2. Stroke Drills for Slackers! 500 m freestyle stroke drills. Great opportunity to create shopping lists in your head while doing these: 100 zipper drill 100 fist drill 100 splash backs 100 right arm only 100 left arm only 3. Seriously Sassy Sprints "Too Sassy for my Speedo...Better Swim FAST!" 200 [4 sets X 50m freestyle]. Build momentum on the first 25, then accelerate on the return 4. Super Duper Power Pyramid - 1700 m; rest 15 sec. after each set to bring heart rate down [No whining!] 500 alternate free/breast; fingertip drag on the freestyle 450 choice 400 alternate free/back; superslow arms on the backstroke 350 choice 5. Cooldown 600 m [6 X 100; rest 15 sec in between; you choose stroke] Grizzled? Add 300 m more, slackers! |

Reminds me of a funny cartoon I read/saw in the New Yorker the other day: Picture a guy lying on a couch in his shrinks office. The shrink says, "Focus on the number of posts you did receive." |

Veteran 580 | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2013 (Year 3!) - CLOSED So I received my new aero helmet in the mail. I got the Giro Advantage 2. It has been recommended to me that I need to wear it outside before my race next week. So, in the words of our esteemed group leader, I am not looking forward to looking like a tool during tomorrow's ride. |

Extreme Veteran 3020 | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2013 (Year 3!) - CLOSED I had to get up at 4:30 to get my long run in before soccer games began. I did the first hour on the treadmill because it was too dark and too cold and then I moved outside for the second hour. We were on the soccer fields for the rest of the morning. 12 miles + 4 soccer games = 1 tired mama. Seriously spent but in a good way. Now I'm off to go grill some burger..... |

Veteran 580 | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2013 (Year 3!) - CLOSED So my first long ride outdoors is in the books. About 48 miles. Am pretty pleased with my overall speed especially because my area is seriously hilly. The flats were a piece of cake and so much easier than on the trainer. I feel pretty confident that I can hold good speed for my first tri next week. I was slightly anxious about how my trainer work would translate to road conditions. Didn't do well on the nutrition part - I felt good, and it was cool - so I was not drenched in sweat - so I just kind of forgot to drink. Did 2300 in the pool prior to the ride. Got kicked in the nose by someone in the lane next to me doing breast stroke. I only had 50 yards to go and I didn't know it at the time, but I received a bloody (nothing horrible) nose. Good OWS training I guess. Scott, Todd, Jen - nice work....a burger sounds really good idea...I am going to add beer to the menu. |

It's been that kind of day, I think. An hour and a half of tennis with my wife while the kids were in school this AM, then a half hour run, then a swim with the kids at the Y. I have open water swim practice plus about 40 on the bike tomorrow, so I should be good and cooked by the end of the weekend... |
