Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Thanks!!! All in all, pretty pleased with how the day went. Swim and bike went as hoped. Transitions were slow with the extra clothes need for the bike but it was worth it. The run was going good and I was thinking I might get close to 12:10 to 12:15 but had a combination of stomach issues and tight hammies on the second lap. Still I met my goal of running the whole marathon, even if some of the later miles weren't very fast. Haven't figured out what caused either and since it was still an hour and 25 minute PR, I am just going to enjoy the moment for a while. Thanks again guys for following me, it kept me motivated to keep moving. |

Most of all I'm glad you finished because we never did get to do a training ride, but apparently you didn't need it :p Maybe some other time; I should be back on the bike soon. |

Pro![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() PennState - 2010-11-07 5:07 AM Great job Ken! Was it is as cold as they were saying? Thanks! It was cold, according to the announcer it was 41 at the race start, but the gulf was warm (72). I put on a compression shirt under my tri top with arm warmers after that. Plus gloves, helmet liner, and calve sleeves. Took the gloves and arm warmers off at special needs and had second thoughts after doing that but was fine. 15 minutes in T1, probably could have shaved some time in there somewhere, but doing a wardrobe change while wet was slow and frustrating. No volunteers available as it was quite crowded. As the sun went down during the second lap of the run it got cold. I was very glad I had put a long sleeve shirt in special needs run bag as I would have had more trouble if I hadn't I think. I saw a lot of guys walking the second lap wearing just a tri top and shorts with a clear bag over top. That had to be a long cold walk. |

Master![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() KEN! YOU ROCK! Great job. Holy CRAPOLA! If I had known Florida was going to be colder than Lake Placid I would have considered it for my first IM. =) I loooove the cooler temps! kenj - 2010-11-07 7:23 AM Thanks! Master![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() So, the thread is going to start slowing down now. But, before it does.... Is anyone asking for anything "special" for triathlon for the holidays?? My mom asked what I wanted for Xmas, but couldn't think of anything. What's on YOUR wish list?? |

A new Trek Speed Concept or P4! Yes, IMFL was colder than LP, but a lot drier (2008)! I enjoyed this one more, but I think it was because I knew what to expect! |

Expert![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Great job out there today Ken. Under 13 hours is a great time and you had good speed on the bike and run. What an accomplishment to run the whole marathon after the swim and 112 miles of biking. Your first 6 mile split on the run was fast. I know I've said it but when your seasons ends, mine starts to begin. Red Rock has announced a 1/2 Iron distance race on April 10th so I'll be doing that for my 1st HIM. I'm mainly just running now for the next month or so and then I'll transition into a HIM training program. I'm in the middle of a 1/2 marathon program right now (PF Changs R n R Jan 16th) and it's really helping my run a lot. It's been busy at work lately so I've been having trouble getting my miles in during the week but I haven't really been that short and I always make sure that I get my long run in on either Sat or Sun. IMAZ is coming up in a couple of weeks and I'm going to go stuff race packets next weekend (Nov 13th) for the people doing IMAZ. There was a swim in the lake this weekend and the people that did it said that the water was good temp and quality wise. As always, the race is expected to sell out in less than an hour. It should be fun with Kathleen volunteering at our aid station. We are going to build the props on the 13th as well. It should be neat experiencing my 1st IM. |

Expert![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Fred, I just received notification that I received one of the protective service slots for IMWI. I will be representing the U.S. Navy. Not sure how many folks were selected or applied but I am looking forward to the challenge. Even though it is a year out I am excited, it will also give me some focus for my training as I have been slacking lately. Greg |

Expert![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Ironman Arizona is only a couple of days away and I'm already really excited. Tonight I get to meet Chrissie Wellington and Matt Reed. I got to stuff race packets this weekend and it was amazing to see about 2800 people who have committed so much to attaining their goal. I can't wait to see everyone out on the course this weekend. We have a super group of pros that are competing including Chrissie, Chris Lieto, Matt Reed & defending champ Jordan Rapp. Should be a great race and event. |

I've always wanted to get chicked by Chrissie... Does it count if you never even see her on the course? or does do I actually have to be in front of her at some point and then get passed? |
