Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() So the never ending sinus issue continues. Been feeling a little fatigued since last week, prior to my weekday Tri I did. Ear fullness, sinus pressure etc. Culture shows I developed sinus infection related to marine, which means I got it from swimming in the lake. WTF!!! Antibiotics start tonight, hopefully some of this ear pressure releases before sunday. I am a little more susceptible than most since just about all of the inside of my nose has been opened up and removed (no, not really like Michael Jackson). But has anyone else experienced this. I now have to flush my sinuses everytime I swim in OW to avoid it. Not really that big a deal but I am very cautious now with sinus infections. They can lead to some serious medical issues, and even fatality, no joke. Does anyone wear those nose pieces? Don't let a sinus infection go too long. It sounds simple and stupid, but it's a much more serious issue than most know. As Scott would say..........Just Sayin'........... |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Sorry, two more questions, not related to each other. 1. When do you know you need new tires? Mine have about 1,700 miles on them. Sundays event is possible rain. WIll new tires help? 2. We are going to Disney in October, and the day afer I get back, is the Hartford 1/2 Marathon. I'd like to do that event, and it would be my first half marathon. But all that walking etc in Disney, do you think i'd be wiped to the point I wouldn't perform well? Maybe a stupid question. |

I told Conrad and Madge that I was going to lie on the couch for 30 minutes and take a nap, and they were not to wake me up (they were watching a movie anyway). 10 minutes into my "nap" Conrad was poking my face with a light saber, asking me to get him some lemonade. WTF.
LOL! the light saber to the face is pretty funny! Sleeping with children running around = she's lucky all she got was a lightsaber. Just sayin. LOL.....I was "listening" to the movie my children were watching....Star Wars IV. Conrad thinks he's Luke. |

I am prone to sinus infections (and let them go too long as well) because I have allergies, asthma, and hayfever. I use saline drops in my nose before and after swimming. I try to stay away from OTC allergy medication but do sometimes take it if the pollen count is up. I had double allergy shots for 14 years.....thinking about going back to the allergist since we moved to Cleveland. Hopefully you'll feel better once you've been on the antibiotics for 24-48 hrs. Your race isn't until Sunday. You ought to feel right as rain for that!!!! Feel better, dude! Not sure about the nose pieces but I've seen people wearing them.... |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() rizer22 - 2011-08-02 3:56 PM I actually love my Asic Nimbus 12's. But I was running in Nike Shox in February. If that don't announce "newbie" I am not sure what else does. Those things were like running with bricks attached to your feet. Gotta love the sword fighting. jeff-y, why only race in Zoots? I'm confused? I started in Nike Shox last summer, too. Only later, when I learned more about running, did I understand how awful they were for my feet. I saw a personal trainer at that time, too, and he told me they were the worst shoes I could possibly wear. LOL I felt like a complete dummy. I guess that's how you learn!!! |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Up early for an easy run....slept like crap last night. I'm taking Conrad to tutoring in about an hour, and then I'm going to hit the gym for a long swim. Another stomach bug seems to be working its way through my family. 3 children are down! It's going to be a long, long day. |

Although i had a good race, i didnt have much mojo 2 weeks after Rev3 Half. |

Needless to say I NEVER thought this would be part of my daily existence. Especially since Cindy isn't the girly girl, shoe and handbag shopping type of woman. |

I'm confused? Are you talking about the Ultra Speeds? They are pretty well made, they may seem like a whisp of a shoe but you should be able to get a couple hundred miles in them. I would always recomend running in different shoes in your training. I rotate between the ZOOT Kalani's, TT's, and Ultra Speed during a normal week depending on the workout. It's good for your biomechanics to have some variety. Edited by bryancd 2011-08-03 10:38 AM |

I noticed lately you mention you are lifting weights. Is there a reason behind it after doing an IM, or did I miss something and you always lift? For the next few weeks I'm back in base for IMFL. Base involves building a little muscle (and lifting weights). Once I'm back into a build phase (in September) I'll stop lifting and just focus on core and back exercises. |
