I am over talking about Fatty's toes, ribs and reading materials (hesitate to see what he has tucked in the bathroom!) so let's move on! Most of us have a few weeks to a few months (IMFL folks) before our season comes to a close. What are you really focusing on improving before your last big race? Tell us how you're doing it! Marathon winter for me. I am focusing on all time pr's in all running distances... there I said it. Ironman people: are you experimenting with nutrition or sticking to what has worked in the past? what worked? i ain't found that YET! ha. i had to pick up some new kicks yesterday and saw they had honey stinger waffels so i bought a couple for todays ride. THEY ARE AWESOME!!!!. i don't mind perform. so as of now its perform, water and possibly honey stingers on the bike. the only issue i can kinda see is both perform and the waffles are sweet. i can see that getting old pretty quick. not sure about the run yet. i really don't want to carry anything. yesterday for the first time i thought about changing in t2 ( and t1) i wear these running shorts with a rear pocket. if these waffles work out i might change in order to carry them. the oomph shorts are great but the pocket sucks. i haven't decided on what jersey to wear yet, so maybe i won't need to change at all. kim..you can usually find me and the kids standing about 5 feet away from the jelly belly section at the grocery store pretending we're looking at something else. just don't try to talk to us for a few minutes because out mouths are full. John - I went to PB & J for that reason. The Infinit really upset my stomach this round so I switched. I was able to eat whatever someone was holding on the run comfortably and I believe the solid food was the reason. Just a thought. I stopped eating anything solid 90 minutes prior to the run though and the stomach felt great. Suzy - It would be great to have your knowledge base and have the REASONS why something worked for me Kim - My wife is running Disney too. It doesn't sound like I am invited though
Dunno what else I'm doing this year, but after spending yesterday at Mt. Rainier, I think RAMROD (Ride Around Mt. Rainier in One Day, a 150-mile ride every July) has not only made it on my to-do list, but might climb quickly to the top!! Unfortunately it's a pure lottery system to get in, but I think it's something I need to do. I have several friends who have done it and might see if I can get one of my cycling BFFs on board. On the nutrition front, you peeps might want to check out this blog http://californiatraining.blogspot.com/ and read her post from July 6 (her IM France nutrition report). I found it very interesting how much solid food she is eating and how it's working for her. Interesting. She still eats a fair amount of sports solids versus real food. I just tried Skratch Labs beverage and I like it. I use it at the pool deck mainly, but it tastes real compared to Gatorade. |
