Extreme Veteran 3020 | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2013 (Year 3!) - CLOSED Rest day for me (recovery week). I slept a solid 8 hours last night. I feel FANTASTIC! I've been on my feet moving all day long for the last month, and May is even more insane. I did some core work yesterday and all of my abdominal muscle are sore. So are my glutes. Oops! Guess it's been a long time since I focused specifically on my core. I'm recommitting myself to doing 3 x 20 minute sessions a week until my training really ramps up. Have a wonderful day! |

Forgot to take allergy medicine last night and then the little guy woke up screaming. My wife tried to comfort him but then daddy came to the rescue He wanted to eat something ha! Go down to the kitchen and he wants a hot dog, really?! The cute thing is he wanted daddy to cook it on the "hot" and pointed to my grill outside. After he had his hotdog he was fine and slept the rest of the night. Wish I could have said the same for me. Now time to figure out how to get this workout in. I am in a blackberry 10 server/device training all day today :/ Thanks for letting me rant |

Regular 211 | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2013 (Year 3!) - CLOSED Did a 1500m open water swim practice yesterday, and I'm glad I did. The water was cold - around 55 degrees, so even though my body was ok in the wetsuit, it was really cold on my face and head, so getting my breathing right took awhile. Even if the water isn't that cold in Charlottesville this weekend, being prepared for that ahead of time is a good thing. I was also able to mostly resolve the shoulder constriction issues I had with the wetsuit last time by pulling the sleeves way up, the way I think they're supposed to be worn. My shoulders are still a little tired today, but nothing like last time. I then did a hilly 33 miles on the bike. I can tell I'm not bike shape yet, but these were some of my favorite mountain roads, so it was good to be out. Tapering this week for Sunday's Olympic. |

So now I have new bike shoes, new run shoes on the way, and all my nutrition/hydration either in house or on the way. I showed Cindy my spreadsheet of IM stuff and her response was "Look finally something important enough for you to make a list."
Sounds like something my wife would say. |

You were really smart to practice in the wetsuit. I got a full sleeve last season and only wore it for a couple of leisurely swims before my HIM. I feel as if my HIM swim was compromised because of the wetsuit. I much prefer the sleeveless and will likely wear it for all of my races this summer (including the IM). I don't like the shoulder restriction. I already have great body positioning in the water and it all boils down to comfort for me (others gain some time with the buoyancy). I guess my point is that practice is key with these wetsuits. Try to swim more in it if you can! Good luck this Sunday. I want to hear all about it! |

Sometimes when this happens I think he is still "asleep" and we just go rock him for a bit and then put him back in his bed and he is fine but not last night. He also wanted to play with sissy and didn't get it that she was sleeping still because it was nighttime. Ahh and we have another on the way...what were we thinking |

Not that impressive compared to most of your totals. I feel like I worked hard and that's all that matters; right? Be proud of what you've done! You're doing what you're doing now to be ready for an IM in August, not in May.

x2. Plus it's a whole lot easier to run up mileage outside on a bike than on a trainer while it's still snowing. |
