Mmmmm Hot dog. x2 Good Man Charlie Brown.

Nice work everyone.

19.38 hrs bike

10.36 hrs swim

11.16 hrs run

4.25 hrs strength

A bout of the flu and April vacation with Elsa knocked some hours down. Rest week for me too before my first race this weekend. I get to meet Kelly actually in person, as she is doing it too. The swim is a pool swim, as the waters are still way too cold here.

ccmpsyd - 2013-04-26 8:06 PM Good luck this weekend Norma. Please post how it went.

x2!  Have fun!

+3.  You've done the work, now enjoy it!

Not nervous yet. That won't hit till tomorrow. Since I train on my own, I know my training could be better. It's nowhere near the rest in this group, but I'll do my best...and have fun!

How'd it go?

x3!!

Thanks for asking.  Yes, it went well enough for my first Olympic.  Slow but steady.  It was a good venue for my first one.  Small...there were only 14 women who participated in the Olympic.  There was the Sprint as well that I had participated in last year.  There were more women in that event.  Out of the 14, I was 12th so I was happy with that.  The swim was good.  Not too cold.  I wore a new wetsuit - sleeveless since I had problem last year with shoulder constriction with a full suit.  This time I felt constricted in the chest even though I had swam with it in the pool. I wound up unzipping it part way so I could breathe.  The distance was fine - no issues except the fumes from the motor boat cruising around.  Need to get faster on the bike, though.  I actually improved over last year by about 3 mph.  But I've got to go at least 2 - 3 mph faster.  From cranking out the bike, my legs felt it on the run so I was slower than my normal pace.  But it was a good first Oly and I estimated my time correctly so now I am gearing up for my next one on May 26.  No issues with recovery.  I was back at it today with a 3 mile run and a 45 minute spin class.

I don't log my workouts.  It reminds me of keeping a food journal.  I know I should do it, but I really dislike doing it.  I do what I can in each discipline and have lots of strength and core work weekly.

Nice Norma. Slow and steady is good. I recall it was not too long ago that you debated doing an Olympic distance and that you really only began swimming for your race in February-ish. So it's great too hear that the distance was no problem for you. Congratulations.

Lol! You are right. Good memory! It was February when I started to seriously train for the oly distance. Endurance and determination. Those are my hallmarks. It wasn't fast, but I wanted 45 minutes on my swim and I got right under that.

BTW I made the mistake of reading through that GatorDeb thread in TT yesterday while feeding Quinn.  I needed some Tylenol after that.

You forgot to mention that you are racing too Kelly.

Kelly and I will be doing the Polar Bear sprint. Pool swim. Wish I learned flip turns. Weather should be nice.

I do flip turns.  Flip turns are cool.

In all seriousness, I have no idea wht to expect.  I haven't done a sprint in 3 years and short stuff is not my forte.

I am really looking forward to just getting out of work for a few days.  Work has definitely affected my training, so I am going into this one just trying to get through it and focus in on nutrition.  I have heard it a really pretty down there, so really can't wait to get there.  Driving down with my niece tomorrow night.  Kind of cool to that a couple of my tri teammates are doing the race as well.

Here is our bike route ... nice challenge
