A quick post from my phone....
Tracy, it sounds like a fitting tribute to your friend. Condolences to you and his family.
Joanne, try to relax today and think of other things. You'll be fine tomorrow. My guess is that the "illness" could be stress related rather than an actual illness. You'll be fine.
For me..... I'm very happy the half Rev is scheduled for tomorrow. They canceled the sprint race because of rip currents and a flooded bike course. A resident told me he does not remember ever having a rip current warning. My race should be fine. Much better weather is forecast for later today and tomorrow.

Tracy it sounds like that was a very nice tribute to your friend and the song did make me laugh. I hope you can kick that cough soon and get back to your regular training routine.

JoAnne I hope you are feeling better and hopefully this doesn't amount to anything for tomorrow. Try not to worry about it too much, get some rest and look forward to your big day tomorrow.

Dirk glad to hear that you'll have better weather tomorrow for the Rev3 race. I was a little worried you guys might not get better weather there.

Jo63 - 2012-09-08 6:52 AM So yesterday I wasn't feeling so great ended up getting emergen-c, zicam, did the netty pot and this morning I woke up with a really bad sore throat Iam trying not to get all worked up but I think Iam gonna go to a walk in clinic today, I can not believe this i am ready to scream.....

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! I've read on BT lots of times where people come down with mystery illness or injuries before their race that never amount to anything on race day. Maybe it is just something like that. Praying your body fights this off quickly!

Yes I heard this happen as well. It actually happened to Chrissie Wellington at Kona. I think that was in 2010 and she wound up not doing the race. Certainly this will not be the case for JoAnne tomorrow.

Oh yeah, not only did i beat my 12 year old time in my race this morning... I got a new PR. 5 miles in 36:42. I'm guessing my chip time will be a couple of seconds faster. I'm very happy! I'll put up a race report later, but now is time to celebrate Elliotts first birthday. The actual day is next Saturday, but we are having a party while we are in town visiting my parents.

Tracy, so glad there was a nice tribute to your friend.  Sounds like he really did things right.

Joanne, stay the course.  I agree it's probably stress related.  I almost always get sore throat/fever/allergy attack right before my main race.  It either goes away or somehow doesn't seem to cause issues on race day.

Allison - unreal time and a PR is always awesome.

Dirk, a little water is not going to affect superman.  You will nail this one.

The Bayek and sons sprint triathlon relay may become a duathlon.  The waves are 4-6 feet every 12 seconds this afternoon due to tropical storm Leslie.  If the waves worsen, the swim will be cancelled.  Even if the swim stands, they are allowing a free option to change to a duathlon instead.

My oldest is doing the swim leg, and though he's a strong swimmer, we will probably do the duathlon depending on how he feels during his warmup.

Allison congrats on the new PR on your 5 miler today. That's awesome and I am happy to hear you did so well today. I hope your husband had a great race as well.

Warren sorry to hear about the water conditions and the swim. I hope it calms down enough for your son to be able to be part of the relay team but not if it compromises his safety in anyway.

Allison I am so happy for you and your great run PR! Warren good luck tomorrow, sounds like a good call to drop the swim in conditions like that.

I had the worst bike ride of the year to date so far today. I was in a bad place mentally from the start - just one of those days where I wasn't into it but forced myself out the door. It was windy, just 15-20 mph but I didn't feel like fighting it. Most of the time I end up happy that I went but today not so much. I met my friend and her husband and they took me on a route I had never been on through some narrow farm roads that were not in good condition - bumpy from chip seal with loose gravel down the middle of the lane and on both sides and no shoulder. Every time a pick up truck would come down the lane I was crying inside LOL. I kept having flashbacks to this time last year when I slipped in the gravel and messed up my back. The whole ride was like this - I just could not relax and I think my knuckles were white from squeezing my handlebars to death and of course I was on the tri bike. This ride would have been more suited for my hybrid. I kept trying to tell myself to relax but it just wasn't happening for me today. We got back to the home roads I am used to and we had talked about riding further but I just said to heck with it and threw in the towel. I was just mentally stressed and beat down and I know myself well enough by now that THIS is when bad things happen. I came home and road another hour on the trainer while I watched a nice movie .

Here is to hoping that everyone else is doing better than THAT this weekend!!!!!!!

lol Dina I was having a crappy ride today as well, although not as bad as you.  My original intention was to head to a track to time myself for a one-mile run, which would typically be about a 17-minute bike ride, which I feel could also be suitable as a warmup.  Well, I started riding, and yes, it was SUPER windy.  Because I was headed to the track to hopefully put up a good time, the ride there was supposed to be easy.  But the wind just kept coming at me.  And I was already going slow, and this wind pushing me back was making me go slower, and I kept trying to keep it easy, but it was difficult not to fight it!  Well, I got to the track of one middle school, and of course the track area is locked, so then I had to head to another one.  Not too big of a deal, there's another one a couple miles up the road at a high school... although more riding than I would like before a good run.  So I headed to the high school, and of course there's a team practice or something going on there, so couldn't use it.  Can't say I was surprised, but I was like okay, I'll try the middle school (a different one.)  However, this middle school was even further away, about 3 miles... so I continue to use up my legs, while of course continuing to fight the wind.  At this point, I don't know if I even want to do a time trial, given I'm using my legs more than I'd like and the fact that I'd have to run against the wind.  But anyway, I made it to the middle school, and there's no one there and it's unlocked!  Yay!  I had ridden for 45 minutes (slow and painful miles against the wind!) and by this time I didn't feel like timing myself, so instead I just did some random running on the track.  Originally I wanted to extend the ride following the running, but the wind and having to go to 3 different schools depleted my mental energy, and I am hoping to get in a long run (and hopefully ride too) tomorrow, so I decided to just head back home.  I ended feeling like I didn't get in very much quality, but hey better than nothing right...

Dina I'm sorry you had such a tough ride today and I can't blame you for deciding to cut the ride short and head for the trainer. We all have those days and you are probably right about bad things happening when you feel that way.

I was planning to go out for a long run today and put it off because the thunderstorms were on the way and guess what no rain and no thunderstorms whatsoever. That always happens but it was too late as I wound up spending another day indoors on the trainer. That's two days in a row but at l got about 5.5 hours and 90 miles in overall. I'll be swimming tomorrow morning and hoping to make up some of that run before the NFL games start tomorrow afternoon.

Dina....You are MILES ahead of me!  I didn't ride at all!

I'm such a slacker right now.  I wish I was slacking in Fiji.  I love Fiji.  I might have to look at the savings account.  LOL!

My husband and I direct a 5K and 10K tomorrow.  My little guy has come down with a super, nasty cough and runny nose.  I am, frantically, trying to organize things so my volunteers have a clue in the morning.  My husband is stressed.  (Can't blame him.)  We always expect between 75 and 100 people.  It's sponsored by Road ID so it's pretty cool!

Wish us luck!

The official results are up: my 5 mile run was 36:39 (6th place in my age group), and Ryan's time was 34:21 (10th in his age group).  It was a tough field this year!

wbayek - 2012-09-08 9:12 PM Tony, did I read that right that you put in a 5 1/2 hour training ride?!?!?!

Warren no way! LOL I am sorry I should have been more clear. I did two rides, one 2.5 hour ride on Fri and one 3 hour ride on Sat. I don't think I could sit in the saddle on the trainer that long just yet. I am not sure if anyone else has this issue but riding outdoors on my saddle I have no issues but riding on the trainer for extended lengths of time just kill my manhood so to speak. I do move around a little and change my position but it doesn't help much. I didn't want to change the saddle outright but I am not sure I can find a way to ride on it comfortably on the trainer for long periods of time.

No updates yet on JoAnne. It looks like Dirk's time has been updated for the swim but it makes no sense to me, has him finishing the swim in 4:13? That can't be right? No updates for Brenda either.

Now rev3 is showing swim splits! Dirk shows up at 32:54.  It shows him as 3rd on the list, but his division place for the swim shows up at 4th.  I wonder if that means he passed someone in transition and left T1 in 3rd place?  Either way, nice!

I think Brenda's wave went off later (like 9), so it makes sense her time isn't up yet.

I wonder how long IM usually takes to update.  Right now they are showing swim splits up until around 1:15 is what I see.  No split for Jo yet.

Edit: Let me read correctly.  The 32:54 looks like is combined T1+swim.  Swim time 31:06 for Dirk.  I was making him out to be slower than he was.  So he probably did pass someone in transition
