Whew... werk is bit on the too much to do side today.  Who's training?

I hear ya on the too much work...I'm swamped tonight.

I did manage to get in an unpleasant bike ride this morning.  Sun was shining, birds were chirping, perfect temps, not too much wind - but I still had an awful time.  I just never got in the groove.  Stupid bike.

Sorry to hear about your ride this morning Emily.  Mechanical problems?

I'm sorry to admit I've never had an unpleasant bike ride.  Cold.  Yes.  Rainy.  Yes.  Unpleasant.  No.   Nothing feels better than to be out on a bike in nice weather.  I guess you learn to appreciate those things in MN.  We have a shorter than usual bike season here.

Do you have a heart rate monitor?  Try wearing it while you're on your bike.  That will keep your HR more even, and should give you a better experience biking (less panting, unless of course you're trying to keep up with the hot guy that just passed you).  Try to stay in zone 2 or even zone 3 on the uphills.  As a 'general' rule, your HR zones on the bike will be about 10 bpm lower than your run HR zones.

Keep at it.  It gets 'funner.'

Do tired legs count as mechanical problems?  I don't think I've ridden two days in a row in awhile.  Most likely reason for feeling less than stellar.  Word on the street is I need to HTFU!

Oooh... my specialty!  Bad training days that is.  The trick is to get back out there tomorrow.  Do something.  Get in the pool.  Put on the running shoes.  Maybe even get the bike out again.  Then you take all that frustration out on what's in front of you.  My best training ride to date came after a severely disappointing time trial in the pool.  I said to my bike (yes, I talk to Mooch), "Dude, I'm sorry, but the pool started and I'm ending it with you.  No hard feelings."

Bad days are not an indication of bad training.  They're just bad days, nothing more, nothing less.  You can use them as fuel, or you can let them get to you.

I'm glad I saw a winky smiley face after "stupid bike."  I was gonna go straight to Dee and steal the cattle prod!  We love our bikes on this team

RunningJayhawk - 2008-05-04 10:58 AM I haven't done an outdoor ride...yet. I know...SO BAD. But when we do, I'm usually on the lakefront or on the NW side path that goes up to the botanical gardens. Beth...have you watched the movie yet!?!

Oh, and I just did my first outdoor ride of the season yesterday - so don't feel bad!

Ok, so apparantly, I'm HTML challenged. What did I do wrong? I copied and pasted in my goals section, all I see is the code. I've screwed up somewhere.

Just tell me to "MOVE!" (10 points to whoever names this obscure reference.)

ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Guess whose ride got cut short due to bike issues with the hubby?!?

MIIIIIIIIIIIIIINE!

boo.

But 10 miles outside is better than no miles outside.

Right!?

I missed the weekend long ride and run because we had to watch my friend's little sister in an emergency. We had fun at least!

You're assuming we have the HTML button. Heh. Some of us are using the vanilla option. (No html.)

(Yes Tinkerbeth -- it's because I have a slower internet connection than you do. And you type fast. So I needed to remove the html option because it was slowed down the page loading -- and you were getting more posts than I was.... Although now that you're at 1000000000000 posts, well, I admit that I've lost the post count war. :P )

dang! it sounds like a challenge - I know I'll know it, when someone else says it - LOL

oh, and don't worry about being html challenged, in the Jan challenge I messed up an entire thread and had to ask Marma for help {shuffling my feet} not once, but twice

I always just copy the graphic table and not the code - have you tried that?

truly I have no idea why it would make a difference, but, somehow it seems to

Ta DA! Fixed. Thanks again.

Did we ever discuss how to figure in bricks and races? Do you just add the 5% to your workout time?

Oh thank goodness.  Sunday night I was checking out the logs and doing some updating in case somebody hadn't got around to it when I realized... what if that was a brick.  How do I figure that out?

mmm.... I love spreadsheets.  I played with werked in them all day yesterday

Speaking of bricks...my first one of the season is scheduled this Sunday (and I have a tri next weekend...wtf?).

I trust my coach and all...but he has me doing a 45 mile ride followed by a 20 minute run. Don't you usually start off with a small dose of each? I would've loved a few more tossed in earlier before my first tri of the season. At least next weekend isn't my "A" race. Sheeesh. (Although, if it were my a-race I'd be screwed considering the complete lack of hills and outdoor bike training I've done...hah!).

My shoulder hurts. I mean realllllllly hurts. This 2500 in the pool may be a problem. :/ We'll see...

Speaking of sunburn.  Wear sunscreen, people.  And do as I say, not as I do:

OUCH!   That looks almost as bad as the chafing I got from my singlet on one of my marathons.  Hurt like the dickens!   I forgot the body glide that day!  (Note to teammates --- not only do you NOT forget sunscreen, you do not forget your bodyglide!!!)

Hope it gets better fast, mon capitan!
