Hey CC Lovers!

Woo Hooo!

I just did my longest run ever in my life! Bonus that it was at a really good pace for me -

I was never a runner - battled PF most of last year - have been working hard

the slow but sure approach seems to be paying off!

Congrats on the run Beth.  Just stopped in to see how all CCL is doing (what does that total in Roman Numerals you brainiacs out there?)

Spending tonight in Joshua Tree, CA and tomorrow going out for some backcountry camping!

I hope you are all enjoying CC, because I am solo on this trip and that means no CC for me!

Check in Friday at the airport - hope I wake up in time to make it down there would hate to be stuck on the west coast for the weekend

I am SOOOO jealous... alone time in the backcountry!!!!!   I Wish.... I haven't gotten to go backpacking since we had our first child 5 years ago... was trying to get an all women's group together for a trip this year, but that is fizzling out....

Enjoy... look out for cougars!!!

jacsuza - 2008-06-04 12:23 AM After two days of slight "yuck"; I got myself onto the trainer and put in 3/4 hour.  Debating about tomorrow -- I may have a kid-free window in the afternoon -- do I swim or go shopping for clothes?

Do both!

Decisions, decisions! Retail therapy, swim therapy...hmmm...I think the jury's still out on that one. I guess it depends onhow many holes are in your clothes or if you're still trying to pass off that christmas sweater as seasonably correct.

Ended up doing chiropractic therapy since I had done hair cut therapy this AM and didn't want to mess  up my first style in nine months.  Will be taking child #1 to the shopping therapy session tomorrow as my own personal "Stacy".  (http://tlc.discovery.com/fansites/whatnottowear/whatnottowear.html).  (Can't pass off sweaters as seasonably correct in Tucson -- hard enough to wear the in the winter, much less the summerWink

Probably also swimming in the AM.

So it occurred to me that we haven't really done introductions (ok, so I was lurking visiting some of the other teams threads and it reminded me - lol)

Here goes

My name is Beth, aka lastcall2003, aka Tinkerbeth- Amy (givemeashot) is responsible for the Tinkerbeth - LOL

I have 3 kids - 19, 17, 12 boy girl boy

I swam competitively, was always very active - water sports, racquetball - until I had kids - well, then...........fast forward

lastcall2003 represents the year I got a wake up call about my health - high blood pressure 30+ pounds overweight, about the only thing I had done right in recent years was to quit smoking - I like to think it was my last call

In January of 2003 - I joined WW and Curves (for anyone that turns their nose up at Curves - think again - it got me back on the road to fitness )

This is my third season of tris,

I signed up for my first tri without a bike to my name and having not run a mile since HS (a story for a different day)

at any rate - I was hooked immediately by the experience - I've done 3 sprints and 2 Olys - one Oly as a part of a team due to the fact that I was dealing with PF last year

not many races as compared to some, but well, in Nebraska - there's not a lot to chose from

I am currently in the middle of a huge transition - I'm moving to PA from NE I started a new job in February and commute on a weekly basis - NE on the weekends, PA during the week

lately I've been staying in PA a few weekends to start house hunting

wow, sorry that turned into a novel - now let's hear about everyone else!

Well I am 41 with 2 kiddes - 12 (girl) & 10 (boy) - started late in life.

I have always been active - just never in the water department. Always swam but only did laps for a month here or there so tri's were never a concern. Now I love swimming, I have always loved biking, and I have gained a new love for running. Amazing what proper nutrition does for you on that end!

So I did a duathlon and 12 hour Adventure Race last year, just completed a marathon over Memorial Day, signed up for a half Iron this summer and hopefully sneak a small tri in before then, but if not I will just do it and have fun.

Love the challenges but I need to be on a winner for once so that is my deal!

we're going to win!

Traveling has it's perks - and I love to take advantage of some quality time in nature!

AHEM...I am 33 and single (omg - I just put 34 before I changed it, but I don't turn 34 until the end of this month - those darn USAT rules have shifted my perspective), with no kids. I don't feel like I am THAT late in life before starting procreation. Maybe someone can get the ball rolling by introducing me to some nice single tri boys who live in Colorado?? ;-)

Four months ago I quit my job and moved across the country from Boston to Denver, where I had lived before starting law school out east in 2003. I have a new job which, like my last job in Boston, periodically chokes out everything else in my life (like last week), but I'm trying to make it all work. Lately my current non-triathlon projects include house hunting, trying to finish books in time for meetings of the book club I just started, and convincing my sister to move to Colorado.

I did three tris (two sprints and an oly) last year by the skin of my teeth, with little training and a hybrid bike that didn't even have cages on the pedals. This year I'm doing 1-2 sprints, an oly and (gasp) a half iron distance, and I'm taking it much more seriously. I still wonder if I can actually finish the long course race, but only time will tell. This is my second challenge, and I like how the challenges keep me focused on my overall goals!

Ok, I'll play.

I'm 45, have 3 kids, ages 15 (boy), 18 (boy), 20 (girl) and work at a law firm.

I started training for triathlons a year and a half ago to get in shape for tennis and spend time with friends.  Haven't played tennis for several months and train with my new friends since my old ones never got started (although they continue to tell me they want to).  Yes, I've caught the bug.

Hubby and I did 3 sprints last summer and a bunch of 5ks.  He's decided running is evil, so he's my sherpa instead now at races and swims and rides with me in training.

Raced (and won my AG!) in a duathlon series this past winter and did some winter run races.   In spite of all the snow we got, I think we rode outside almost every weekend this last winter - I thought that was pretty cool.  Ran 10 miles last fall for the first time since I had kids and completed my 1st marathon last month.  Now I've gone and signed up for my 1st oly and 1st HIM in the fall.

I've enjoyed running most of my life and a bike was my transportation for many years, back in the day.  Swimming however is another thing.  So I'll be swimming 4-6 times a week until my HIM!

I bought my bike in Belmont! The marathon is a great excuse for a visit. One of my best friends qualified in Feb., and will be running next year, so I'm definitely going back then. It was tough to miss it this year.

AHEM2 .  I'm 45 (46 in Dec) and child #1 turns 11 on the 13th while child #2 is 6; and I'm the one that had the kids!!!  I was never very active as a younger person -- something to do with being overly skinny, kinda weak, and definitely not wanting to show off my body.  I did do some running before I got pregnant with #1, but stopped once I was expecting.  We moved back to Tucson when #2 was 8 mos. old and have had a lot of family crud since then.  Last year, the scale and the dress size were showing numbers that did not make me happy so I got this crazy idea of training for a triathlon as my exercise plan.  (A teaching gig and a husband who does in-home sales makes for joining an regular exercise class or a gym rather challenging).

I did my first (and only) tri in March -- came in last, but FINISHED!  My next one will be in October, and I'm planning on NOT coming in last.  (Actually, if I hadn't dilly-dallied in transition, I wouldn't have been last, but, oh well).

Looking forward to a great challenge month with all of you!

Every Patriot's Day we'd take the kids to Lexington to watch the Minuteman reenactment, then have brunch with friends and watch the marathon, sometimes even throw in opening day.  Good fun!

I'll play too

My name's Joe  32 yrs old and single

Never really played any sports as a kid except for bowling.

I had been overweight pretty much all my life until April of 04 when I decided enough was enough, I tipped the scales at 387 lbs, and joined 24 hour fitness to lose the weight.
Started working with a personal trainer once a week and going on my own 2-3 times a week and cut out the fast food and sodas.

About a year 15 months later I was down 100 lbs and did my first 5k and got hooked on racing.  Later that year my trainer did the Escape from Alcatraz tri on no training and that put the idea of doing a Tri in my head.

Ended up doing 4 duathlons in 06 and attempted 1 tri but dnf'd the swim, my achilles heal but getting better.  In 07 completed my 1st tri in Napa then did 4 more sprints and an oly.  Now I'm training for my 1st HIM and currently trying to talk myself out of signing up for an ironman for next year.

Now I'm down about 175 lbs total and have made this my lifestyle.

Ill play as well

My is name is Gary I live in Kalispell MT im 43 married 2 girls 20 & 18.

Several years ago I tipped the scales just under 300. Many diets and workout vids later I got down to around 240. Aug last year I watched my wife (many of you know roni_runnw) do a sprint tri, kind of caught the bug then to start running again.  Ran a little bit at first by NOV was able to run an hour without dying. Did my first 5k in DEC 07 then in FEB did a 1/2 marathon. Now im really hooked JUN 15 is my duathalon. My weight is now hovering at 200 and I noticed the smaller I get the faster I can go.

Im a high voltage electrician for the DOE so I get to travel all over the north west and get to run and bike somewhere different all the time kind of fun.

Im also addicted to reading all these posts its  like a sore tooth you just cant leave it alone.
