Well, had my first race for the 2009 season, a 15k run out at Lake Grapevine (DFW area). It was cold, but it worked to my benefit as I PRed for the course and 15k by 6:20. Whooo hooo! I wonder if coaching has something to do with it?

Great job yesterday Scott.  In the cold and wind too!!

Busy day today.  Massage at 12 (I know, what a tough way to start the day).  Need to run this afternoon and we are hoping to get over to REI to check out their sale.  We both need some new bike shorts.  My favorite pair are starting to fall apart

REI may be a no go if time runs out because the massage and run are mandatory.

Tomorrow starts our real tri training plan.   LoneStar is 12 weeks from today.  If you asked me now, I am not ready for a HIM in 12 weeks.  If I stick religiously to this plan, I know I can get there.

I am also abandoning the 7-4 schedule.  I really was liking it but for 2 reasons I think it is better I go back to 8-5.

First, on this HIM plan we have several 2 a days.  I am going to have to get at least one done in the mornings.  Second, since I moved and my whole team is sitting together, it does not feel right to get up and leave while the people who report to me are still working.  Even though I was there an hour earlier than them, it did not feel right.  So, I wish I could say that I will be getting an extra hour of sleep, but in reality, I will have to make myself get up and workout.

Wish me luck!

I've been a slacker on posting this week. But, I've had many great training sessions.

I've decided that my new fluid trainer I just go is much, much harder than my mag trainer. I get a killer leg workout on this thing.

Nutrition is going well and I'm down to 210.5 as of Thursday. 5 lbs lost over the holidays. Since I gave up alcohol until september I hope to drop most of the rest of it fairly quickly.

I signed up for two 5k races. One is on the 17th and the other on the 31st. It's supposed to be 16 degrees on the 17th with flurries. What did I get myself into?

Great job with the weight loss during holiday season David. Holidays are the hardest to even maintain your weight, and you managed to loose. That's pretty good. Congratulations.

Sorry I haven't had a chance to post the last few days. Hubby and I were in NY for the weekend celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary. So needless to say, I got no workout done over the weekend, besides walking around the city on Saturday morning. I however did get my trial run done Friday morning with my trainer. Although I didn't quite meet the distance I wanted to meet in running, it went pretty good. I didn't pass out - that was the major goal and I did the whole thing. Yahoooo. Well 10 min swim - a little over 380 yds, 30 min. bike on stationary - 11.7 miles, 20 min run on treadmill - 1.7 miles.

Tomorrow I get to really utilize my trainer by hopefully getting a 20-30 min. trainer ride in tomorrow morning; followed by a swim and run after work later tomorrow evening.

Good morning and Happy Monday all!

Today's workout...

Run: Strength
800s
60
WU: 10'
MS: You are going to run 5x800 at a Z3 effort-with the active rest (easy jogging) being the same time as it took you to run the 800. For example if it takes you 3:45 to run the 800, then 3:45 is your recovery time.
CD: 10'

In a sick twisted kind of way, this seems like it will be fun!  I know my zones are jacked up, but we are doing an LT field test on Saturday so I hope that will give me proper information.  According to the zones I have set now, I ran over an hour and a half at the White Rock half in zone 5.  Highly doubtful.

Get to leave work at 1:30 today for the dentist.  Actually 2 appointments.  Cleaning first and then with the dentist to finally finish this implant process.  It's only been 2 years since I had the tooth extracted!

I am really happy to be starting this 12-week plan. It's also hard to believe tha in 12 weeks my first tri of the 2009 season will be a Half Ironman!

Go big or go home...right!

Got to really try out my new trainer this morning. Way harder than the stationary. Phew.... Got a 30 min. trainer ride in this morning - 4.87 miles. Pathetic. But I think training on the trainer would be a lot better than on the stationary. So when the weather comes to actually ride outside, I won't suck too much.

Happy Anniversary Lina! And, great job on your race Scott The Houston marathon is this weekend so I'm taking it very easy this week. I slept in (well to 5:45 anyway, does that count?) this morning and I'll just do a 30 min easy spin this evening. No swimming this week, 2 easy 30 min light spins and 2 aqua jogs on the schedule. Other then that it's rest, stretch and rest rest! Which is rediculously hard for me to do, even though I know it's necessary.

5:45? Was that AM or PM? I wish I could get up that early everyday.

Wow... I couldn't find the link on the 1st page of the forum, and almost thought the group got dissolved or something. Hope everyone is still around.

Got my swim and run done yesterday evening. Took it really easy on the run as my left foot was bothering me too much and with the race coming up this weekend, I didn't want to push it. Also, found out later on from hubby dear that he had the setting on the trainer too tight. No wonder it felt so much harder yesterday morning. I'll have to try again tonight to see if his adjustment made a difference.

Was supposed to get a trainer ride in this morning but was too lazy to get up in the morning. Will try to get it in tonight after my session with the Personal Trainer.

Hey all,

Today is a slow day at work.  Always seems to make the time so sooooo sloooooow.  Going to try to get out of here a little early.

We have a pretty heinous 3500 swim tonight.  I have been really bad about swimming and have not done that distance in months.  This is going to hurt!

Good luck with the swim tonight. Are you going to be doing the whole 3500 without breaks?

Swim is done!  Only did 2400 but felt GREAT in the water.  Smooth and balanced.

Lina, no that was with breaks.  If you look at my log, you can see the breakdown.

I will take quality over quantity any day!

Yesterdays swim was tougher on ly arms than I originally thought.  Woke up at 1 and my arms were aching.  They feel OK now, jus tired.  This is a tough week since I am shifting workouts around I do not get an off day.

That's what I signed on for right!

Little 30 minute run at lunch then a Jorge bike interval tonight!

Morning everyone. I havent checked in in a while but here goes.

Had a cool training session last night. My local bike shop has started training sessions at the shop. they have a bunch of trainers set up in a room, you bring your bike and they have a spin session there. It's pretty cool because it's geared for people training either for tri's or the MS150 (bike ride).

Today I have a 40 min run at lunch and then an 1 1/2 hour swim tonight at the masters class.

Have a great day all.

Wow... Definitely something to aspire for some day.

Last night had my training session. Mostly just pointers on bike and swim for the mini tri coming up this Saturday. Didn't run yesterday as my foot was bothering me too much, and I don't want to push it just before the race. The plan says to do swim and run today, but since I already got the swim done yesterday, will only do a light 20 min. run today.

Hey all.   I'm barely around lately because I'm still sick.  Recovering, but boy is it slow going.   I'm going to do a strength workout today.   I really miss being in the pool, but my head is just way too congested still.

Currently I have mixed feelings - nervous and excited. The trial run I did on Friday, did help ease my anxiety a lot. I am of course still a little bit nervous having never participanted in any competitive sport event. I will just be happy if I can finish it without embarassing myself by throwing up or freezing or passing out or any combination of such. I do have to say though that you guys have definitely been a great support and encouragement through my training in the last few weeks. Laughing

Susan - Hope you feel better soon.
