SweetK - 2009-01-09 1:20 PM More good news on the PT front! As of today, I no longer have to wear the huge immobilizing brace!! I don't have to wear a brace at all, as a matter of fact. That is unless I'm doing a strenuous activity. I got this new funky brace when things like that happen, perhaps running in a few weeks! I do have to continue to wear an ace bandage for compression to help manage the swelling that fluctuates. Yes all is good! BTW ~ My surgery was only 3 weeks ago today...

Excellent news Kristen!  Great dedication on your part to stick to the PT plan!

GO STEELERS! Cool

Let's make that GO EAGLES!!

Awesome news.  Compression bandages are nothing, you'll get used to it in no time.  We wore them all the time back in my football days as preventative

Well, seeing as the Eagles are going to win tomorrow just like they did a month ago, I would say it is a good thing that my mentor is not picking sides and choosing the pitiful Giants.  Prepare to watch Eli cry when he gets hit a few times.

I hope everyone's weekend is going well!! I got a decent trainer ride in and have a 75 min run tomorrow in 12 inches of snow! That should be fun!

Send good vibes to Lo-Daddy at Disney Marathon tomorrow morning!!

Hey Bob, that is exactly what my pool looks like when I am squeazed into the far lane when they are doing water aerobics.  12 mile jaunt on the treadmill this morning.  Good thing my wife has some good tunes downloaded on my i-pod.

And I happened to actually work out today....quick hour plus on the trainer, and if the snow stops, I'll hit lifetime for a run around dinnertime....

I was shocked there wasn't a weight related comment to the deck being cracked. With an opening like that, you guys are too nice!!

I'd actually typed a few responses out   But when you weigh 225, well, you know the saying about those living in glass houses.

I have a question for you guys.  My hamstrings are extremely tight.  I stretch my hammies most days using a yoga strap, since I can't reach my toes either standing or sitting.  Does anyone have any other stretch ideas?

Now, that type of green would have to be blue for PSU.

on teh tight hamstrings, just keep at it, hold the strech for 30-60 seconds (it takes that long for the muscle to release) 3-5x.  I have pulled both hammy several times during football days (go giants).

I use the following routine: 3-5x modified hurdler stretch, 3-5x double leg stretch, 3-5x standing with leg up on back of chair/couch.  I also use a foam roller from time to time.  MY flexibilty has gotten a lot better in the hammys after a year of concerted effort.  These are all classic/basic static stretches.  There are lots new ideas in flexibility trainiong out there, but these have worked for me.  Best of luck to you - worst of luck to the Eagles.

My calf is still sore.  There is no babysitting at the gym due to the snow storm.  I am taking the day off.

Who ran outside in the snow today?

Snow??  You mean that dusting that is under the layer of ice?  (I bitter because we haven't had a good snow storm in a few years.  We keep getting stuck with the mix of snow/sleet/freezing rain.)

I did drive in the ice this morning to get to the pool for a swim before I settle in to watch the Eagles win.
