Elite 3447 West Allis, WI | Subject: RE: Fighting Okra - September End of Summer Challenge skrtrnr - 2009-09-09 1:51 PM went to the chiropractor. second week in a row that ive not needed a cold laser treatment on any part of my anatomy - not my back, not my foot. YAY!! ive gone weeks without cold laser to my foot. and months w/out pain in my foot. pain that almost caused me to stop running altogether, STRUCTURAL MANAGEMENT is da bomb! dinner is prepared. hardwood floors swept. bathrooms cleaned. laundry almost complete. book covers purchased. [every store within a 20 mile radius was out, i called every hour on the hour until the shipment arrived. as soon as it did, i went over lickety split. OI. im FINALLY done school shopping] just waiting on the prodigy to arrive home. heading out for a meet and greet at the school. then to the Y for a 90 min stroke clinic. and here my husband thinks i sit on my arse all day. little does he know. (just kidding) hope everyones day is going swimmingly. JOY! stacieb Hey Stacie, I was gone for the weekend and my house needs all that and more, You wanna come do mine since yours is done? Champion 6225 | Subject: RE: Fighting Okra - September End of Summer Challenge hi everyone. woke up from a hours long nap STILL feeling CRUDDY. its not so much the congestion/cough... its the body aches and the UNBELIEVABLE FATIGUE im feeling. not that im overly worried, but this is gonna throw my whole week out of whack, training-wise. thankfully theres no serious event looming on the horizon. i could go out tomorrow and do a 60 mile ride, no problem (not that i would want to feeling like CRAP, but....) so i feel prepared to ride that distance on the 26th. my only priority at this point is to get my long run in and if possible, my interval run in, the rest is less important. i dont have a week to 'spare' in my 1/2 MARY trng.... i may have to adjust my goals for this challenge. first time ever in any challenge ive participated in. boo. hisss. anyone know that formula they use to make the adjustment, if its necessary? usually im one to bounce back pretty quickly from stuff, but i can tell, not this time. im telling ya. whatever you do. bar this one at the door. awww. and just when i was getting back into the swing of things too....plffft. :p ICKY-POO. stacieb Edited by skrtrnr 2009-09-14 2:16 PM |

Master 1841 Sendai, Japan | Subject: RE: Fighting Okra - September End of Summer Challenge skrtrnr - 2009-09-11 3:25 AM....btw, are you originally from the US? if so, what took you to Japan? a job? a girl? a sense of adventure? I meant to respond to this one a while back. I am originally from the US. I grew up outside of Buffalo and know Allegheny State Park well. I went to college near Chicago and ended up living/working there until 1987 when I took an expat assignment in Thailand for 2 years. My next assignment brought me here about 20 years ago and I've been here most of the time since then (except for 1 year back in Chicago and about 1.5 years in the UK). I did get married along the way to a wonderful Japanese woman and she is a significant part of the reason I'm still here. enjoy your whatever you end up doing day tomorrow. rest sounds great, but an easy bike ride sounds awfully nice too. (im thinking along the same lines....) HAPPY RECOVERY! stacieb |

(im thinking along the same lines....) HAPPY RECOVERY! stacieb DAN. what an amazing life-journey! [thanks for sharing, afterwards, i thought man, thats an awfully personal question to be asking someone on forum like this....excuse me for being so forward...its the counselor in me i suppose, asking questions, wanting to know...] i visited Thailand VERY briefly, we saw Bangkok and spent ten days in Phuket and surrounding areas doing Tsunami relief work (6 weeks after the Tsunami hit...) what an AMAZING country w/ some of the most gentle/lovely/generous people ive ever met. though probably improper of me to generalize, as there are so many contrasts from country to country, region to region, i think Asian/Eastern culture has something over us here in the West. ive often wonder if perhaps i was born in the wrong hemisphere and would LOVE the opportunity to spend more time there.....maybe my lifes-path will afford me that someday. im envious. stacieb Edited by skrtrnr 2009-09-15 7:28 AM |

Champion 6225 | Subject: RE: Fighting Okra - September End of Summer Challenge i am. the worlds WORST sick person. im tellin ya. after only two days of this CRUD, im ready to climb the walls.... im gonna wait it out this morning, but i serious need to get out of this house and get my body moving to some degree.... im definately not 100%, far from it, but i can tell that im moving in a health-full direction, for sure. id like to swim. just a shortie. and most definately with fins.... Wed's long run is out of the question for sure, though im feeling 'clearer' i still feel wiped out. a long run would not be good.... it can wait til later in the week, even over the weekend if necessary. just trying to think it through, and make good choices. im not the best at this sorta thing. i tend to get back at it too soon, and end up making an improving situation worse, and then i have a set-back. never seem to know whats best/right/...... how do you all guage this sort of thing? i have friends on one end of the continuum who say, wait it out, an extra few days wont hurt, and then other friends that train through every illness, injury. i guess i find myself somewhere in the middle.... i dont feel the need to be 110% symptom free, but im not about to train on through whatever either. sorry for the blabbering. there must be still some snot pressing on my brain. have a happy everyone! stacieb Edited by skrtrnr 2009-09-15 7:24 AM |
