I had a good Saturday workout Swim & Bike. Today I got out for a run. I should have gotten out earlier because it was broiling at 930 am. So I am focusing this week on running so I can have a good 5K beach run next weekend. |

Veteran 501![]() Seattle, Washington | Subject: RE: Leegoocrap's Mentor Group - ClosedKevin - so glad to hear Julie is doing better! Finished the half iron today! So much fun. Got to meet some other BTers and a ton of nice people along the way. I stuck to my race plan perfectly and finished in 5:46:05, with a half marathon PR! Needless to say I hit my goals for this race and am really excited to do an Ironman someday. I'll put up a race report either later today or tomorrow. Hope everybody else had a good weekend too! |

Champion 7136![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Knoxville area | Subject: RE: Leegoocrap's Mentor Group - ClosedThree hours on the bike last night... man I'd forgotten what 3 hours felt like on the road. Definitely a bit windy up in Townsend (aptly named by the way) got some serious experience in on my H3 front. It's a bit intimidating going down a highway with cars passing you and the wind blows you 6" to the left. Now I'm just wondering what the heck I'm going to do on my 5 and 6 hour rides... Running out of Real Estate here!!! My ex-roommate has issued a bet/challenge that I can't do my 6 hour ride on the trainer, no tv, no music, no window, no breaks (excluding bathroom) staring at the wall the whole time. Seems like a good time if he wagers enough. |

Master 1286![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Mt Pleasant, SC | Subject: RE: Leegoocrap's Mentor Group - ClosedHello I have snapped out of training doldrums. Up out of bed at 530 this morning because I knew there would not be a workout unless I got up out of the fart-sack. Stretched and out the door. Solid 3 mile run with a steady HR until the final kick. This was the first run since my knee injury where I felt good about running. So the good thing about working out in the morning it makes me feel good and puts a positive spin on the day ahead at work. Wednesday- bike ride in the dark with headlight mounted on aero-bars, rear blinker and reflective vest. Julie - update She has a follow-up with DR today at 5 pm and she is hoping to get the drain tube removed from her side. Once it is removed we can try to get back to normal over the next few weeks. I found out that my 5K run this weekend will be a beach run so I am hoping for low tide and packed sand. Kevin |

Good job staying on top of your workouts, your mental health, your wife's physical health... Hope it all settles down soon! Enjoy the 5K on the beach- that should be fun. |

Seems like a good time if he wagers enough. Right?! I couldn't believe how long my three-hour ride on Sunday felt. Luckily it wasn't boring (riding in a fancy neighborhood gawking at houses passes the time pretty quickly), but it was... uncomfortable. I need a pair of quality bike shorts before my 60-mile tour in three weeks. Otherwise I may not be able to have children in the future. There is no way I would take that wager for a six-hour trainer ride. Maybe if he offered $1,000. Otherwise, I don't think I could do it. |

You've had some tough obstacles put up and I'm glad you are staying motivated! My Grandma goes in for Heart Surgery tomorrow morning, so depending on how everything goes I may be on/off around here for the rest of the week... she's had a tough time with cancer and just seems to keep going from one thing to the next! She's been probably my biggest influence to continue/pursue Triathlons too, she always comes to my races, regardless of how she feels. If I'm not back on, everybody have some safe training, and those of you racing, Go Hard and Have Fun. |

After my 5K on Saturday I will have run more this week than whole month of May. I think taking a week plus off after the last race and then concentrating on the run with the 5K being used as part of my training. I am looking for a good Charleston Sprint # 2 on Fathers Day next weekend. Julie back at work for a half day's Thursday & Friday. The desire/ability to return to work means her recovery is moving along. Chris hang in there with your grandmother. I am sure she is a fighter. Kevin |

But I can walk down stairs like a normal person again, so that’s a step. |

Grandma did great, got to go home today, she's already up and moving around the house, so hopefully all is well. Still got most of my workouts in between that and remodeling some stuff at the office. Out for a couple of fairly long bike rides this weekend (2:20 and 3:35 sat & sun) should be entertaining, getting my neck back in that sweet aero position! Who's racing this weekend? I know somebody is but it's eluded me at the moment! |

Enjoy those long rides this weekend- got a three-hour one myself tomorrow morning. PS- Guys, I swam a mile without stopping tonight. A WHOLE MILE. As you can probably tell, I'm pretty psyched. I'm hoping this means I have my confidence back in the water and won't have to worry about backstroking through my next tri haha. |

I went out and swam this morning to get the kinks out and kind of make up for taking a day off yesterday. Who else would swim/bike or both swim and bike the day of 5K race. Just us. So tonight I have a 5K for ALS Beach run on the IOP (Isle of Palms) starting at 6 pm. Not sure why a 6 pm start when we live in SC and heat index is 105-110 today. HTFU I guess. Race report tonight. Completely bonked about 1:30 into my 3:30. Had to limp back home... I've never been so glad for air conditioning in my life. Don't get it either... brought both salt tabs and extra water and was keeping hydrated (i thought so anyways) man it was rough. Trying to get that other hour and a half, but I don't think it's going to happen. |
