Thanks for all the well wishes!!! Everything went very well. The surgeon told my husband, my knee looked angry. Not sure what that means, but its fixed, torn meniscus cut away. I see the surgeon next week and I should be able to get in the pool this time next week.

I have minimal swelling and NO pain...probably all the chemicals. The anesthesia people are my friends and gave me lots of good drugs...which should wear off at some point!!!

I dont need crutches today so at least that part is over. Going to set up a PT appt today.

I am a knitter...currently working on 2 baby blankets... I really enjoy it. My coach is having twins.Breaks up the monotony of the couch.

Because I am bored...I will keep posted on BT...SO GET YOUR WORKOUTS DONE!!!

Marianne ~ glad to hear all went well!! That's great that you'll be able to get somewhat active so quick but in the meantime, quilting and BT is a good thing

I managed to get my 5 mile run and ST done this morn. I'm quite proud of myself since I really hadn't planned on doing the full 5 miles as I really hate the treadmill. However, I seemed to get into the groove...maybe watching all the old ladies in the pool doing their water aerobics made the time pass a bit more quickly ~ they are just too cute. They all gather around the handful of guys in there, it's funny to watch.

Now I really need to do some homework. I can't wait until this aweful class is over and I can move on to things I actually like to learn about

Hope everyone is doing well!!

"I'm paying the penalty for my slacking"

One Faller...its funny that you are paying a penalty...I make myself do a little exra on days when I have either skipped a workout or not finished a workout. I refer to it as penalty for the slacking.

I felt pretty good yesterday. I am doing my isometric exercises during every commercal break. Did I mention day time TV sucks????

One of my friends did my anesthesia called to check on me yesterday. She told me that I was showing everyone how I could contract my quads and glutes while I was in the recovery room. How embarassing!!!! She thought it was funny. My physical therapist will be impressed.

Today I will start doing my ab work again. My goal for the end of the week is to go to the gym and do upper body strength work.

I am meeting my water challenge

Help me out today group...post anything...just so I wont have to watch a full day of TV!!!!

It's funny to hear the stories of what people say and do in the recovery room. My husband has had so many surgeries I can't even count and he always starts begging for cheeseburgers ~ and to walk to the bathroom so he can go home

Cross your fingers for me as I have to take my midterm today and I am so far behind in class I have no clue how i'm going to pass it. I am hoping to take Sammi to the indoor bouncy house place this morn and I can cram a bit while she is running around.

Today is a rest day for me so I plan on doing lots of foam rolling and stretching!!

YEAH, we made it to page 15

I found out our local tri shop closed the end of last month so now what do I do?! I'm used to Hawaii where there were a number of places to choose from but here in this area there isn't much

Happy Thursday everyone!

Mav - I wish you a speedy recovery. I remember the mindless hours in front of the TV after my last daughter was born. Of course, I had some "happy pills" that made even Dr Phil seem interesting.

Happychick - There is tons of great tri gear online. You miss the comraderie of a local store, but I think the prices tend to be better.

I bought some cycling shoes on ebay. I was soooo excited to find new ones from a reputable seller for $47. But, then I checked, and the sizing chart for Garneaus is totally different than Izumis... Anyway, I may have a pair of shoes up for grabs if anyone wears a 9.5 W. I'll try them on when they get here, but I've got a bad feeling about them

I worked out after 8 pm last night. This was a first for me, but I had already skipped on Tuesday. It actually wasn't that bad. I enjoyed a movie (great movie: Man on Wire) and had a good spin. Anyone else a night-time person?

Okay mav - that's all I can think about to chat about... unless you want to hear about runny noses and dirty diapers!

Y'all have a strong finish to the week!

I really should be cramming for my midterm but instead I had to stop in here

So we didn't get to the bouncy house since Sam's runny nose seems to be getting worse and I hate seeing kids at places like that with snot all over their face! Anyway, I had to stop by the hospital and on the way in we saw the airlift helo and Sammi wanted to see it up close so we walked over. Well, there was a gorgeous golden retriever there and they hit it off through the fence. Needless to say I said we could go to the park instead of the bouncy house then stop by and see more doggies (read: animal shelter.) We stopped by an outdoor park (cuz i'm sure that helps with her cold ) then headed over to the shelter...HUGE MISTAKE for me and I know better cuz of course there was the perfect dog! We took him for a walk then spent some time with him and needless to say I put a hold on him so my hubby can check him out tomorrow. He's not happy with me (although he would never admit it) but he is playing my reindeer game since he knows I will be the one who will be dealing with the wrath that I bring about by bringing a dog home

Thanks gals for the online tri shop tips...i've never ordered tri stuff online, especially clothes, since all brands seem to fit so differently. Oh well, such is life, right?!

Ok, now really am going to study...

Glad to hear you are doing so well Mav. I agree daytime TV sucks, then so is middle of the night TV (which I just turned Off). I'm on call tonight so I don't like to go to bed to early just in case. I have a Golden Retriever and she's not happy I"m still up.
She is a rescued dog and we are very fortunate to have her.

We are headed up to the mountains tomorrow to enjoy the snow. Just getting out of the deep freeze again. Below zero is not right.

Got all my water in the last couple of days.

finished my second triple (s/b/r) workout of the week last night.  Master swim in the morning (2600Yds), 4 mile tempo run at lunch, and 18miles on the bike trainer after work.  It's amazing what you can do if you apply a little bit of yourself consistantly over time.  Thursday was much better than tuesday.  the difference was to keep a close eye on eating healthy and often during the day, drank more water and less coffee.

It was not that long ago when I was excited to finish my first 5 mile run.

Have a good weekend everyone.

My Chocolate Lab Ginger watches me ride the trainer.  Sometimes she comes over to lick the moisture of my legs at 90rpm cadance.  She can catch my leg on the way down and back up in one lick.

During last nights trainer workout, she stole the towel from the floor next to the bike and ran off with it barking. She would come back into the room, shake-it at me and then run out barking.  She was having a blast.

Celebrate your healthly lifestyle and have as much fun as possible in every training session.

Cheers,
Mark

Sorry I have been MIA.
Yesterday I had a lot of pain and the swelling in my knee increased. SO I esentially stayed on the couch packed in ice all day. I feel much better today and hopefully the worst is behind me!!!!

Mav- sorry to hear you had a set back. R U doing too much? Be careful. Hope things r looking up now.

I'm having a slow week this week. Just can't seem to get myself motivated to train. We did go skiing yesterday for 5 hours so I put some serious work on the legs. That whole push to get in the pool is hard. I going to try to get to the pool today.
Have a good weekend.

Had a bit of a slacker week when it came to training but was otherwise a good busy week. I made up for it today with a 45 min bike and 45 min swim. I was really happy with my swim as after I completed 1000 meters I tried to back to back 200m with 30 second rest and the second I still managed to complete in 3:50. Tomorrow will be a 45 min run and hopefully some strength training.

Also went downhill skiing yesterday which I had not done in over 10 yrs. Wanted to get back in the groove before I take my girls with me. Can't have them showing me up!

Mav- hope things continue to look up for you. When I dislocated my shoulder and was stuck in a sling for 6 weeks it was hell. However, I followed orders and was back training without injury before too long.
Happy weekend everyone.

I'm still keeping up with my water goals.  The run numbers are better this week.  Ran on Saturday with the RTB group but was not able to find a slot to make up the missing swim workout.  It was inspiring to run with a couple of guys going to ironman this year.  I'm like a sponge, sucking up inspritation left and right.

Tomorrow is the start of another week, and I have goals.

February's Week 2 totals:
Bike:96.7 Mi
Run:26 Mi
Swim:5200 Yd
Core Training:1h 00m

Sorry I've been MIA for the past two weeks.  I've been out of town for work and does it ever feel good to be home eating home cooked meals and getting back into working out.  I used the elliptical yesterday and got outside and jogged a few miles in the unbelievably warm day (49 degrees).  It was refreshing to run outside.  I

Sorry for my lack of posting this weekend. My knee has been giving me some issues. Its swollen and quite painful. I went to the ER yesterday and I have developed a large cyst behind my knee...which makes sense...given that I cant bend it at all. I see the MD this am and hopefully she will have some answers

I am glad to see you all doing your workouts...I am there with you in spirit.

Katie good to see you back

Hows things one faller???

Michelle...you loving the trainer???

Mark you are an animal...I am excited to see how you do with your HIM...your training is fantastic. How many weeks?

anesthesia doc...how are things????

I will try to get on line later...it requires that I go down stairs to get to a computer and at this point that is difficult.

I'm feeling the love, and its tough love.  RTB Masters Swim Coach is helping with my stroke.  Focus on getting good extension and strong catch before pulling through to the hip.  Now I'm turning my elbow up and that allows me to reach without flailing around.  It's working, It's really working. bfg.  I'm maybe 10 seconds faster on the 100, just this week.  I'm moving so much faster and farther on each stroke I'm reaching the end of the pool before I expect.  I've smacked my arm on the deck a couple of times.  Really cool to have a break through.  Feels good.  But I'm really tired.

Harder and faster swim workout (2500).
WU: 5x100 Swim
DR: 8x25 (25 Dog Paddle catch drill, 25 Count strokes drill)
MS: Really complicated.
       2x {3x250 Build RI 0:10, 1x100 Moderate Recovery, 1x100 Hard Count Strokes.}

Very quiet group recently.
Hoping to get several double workouts in this weekend as I have a 5 day weekend- whoo hoo! strength training and then went straight to the pool. Did not end up being a great swim for me as I had a long day and was already exhausted before I got there. Did a quick 1000m of 5X200 and then called it a night.
Mav- how is your healing? How long until you can get into the pool?

Mark- that's amazing how a bit of a fix on your stroke is already showing such improvements. I would love to join a masters club but the two around me are on a waiting list. I am looking to take part in a spring swim clinic though.

Well, I survived The Canyons without injury.  I was able to ski about 3.5 hours each day for 5 days, so I'm happy with that.  Now that I'm back home, I am getting back into my training program.  I met with my swim coach for the 1st time this evening.  I think that it is going to help out.
